I have a confession to make too...

Just for ***** last night I reved all the way up 9.5k before shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I never really noticed how awesome the Renisis pulls until then. I started @ 2.5k and it really felt like the car was actually pulling harder all the way up until I shifted!
I've been shifting mostly between 6.5k-7.5k because the whine of the unusually high revs still worries me (YES - I KNOW IT WONT HURT IT; PARDON MY INSTINCTS). After yesterday's little rush, though, I'm actually curious as to why the redline isn't higher! It really felt like I could have gone up to 11 or so before I started to lose some pull.

Hopefully I'll grow a pair soon so I can have more fun with the 9k shift

We have another addict. Make sure someone shows you how to tie off a turniquette with one hand before you get your next fix. You sooo want that Racing Beat re-flash now don't you...

From what I've read around here, apparently the limiting factor in the redline isn't what the engine can take, it's what the transmission can take.

This is something I've said here before, something unique to few cars but common to many motorcycles. Using that overrev (9500 fuel cut-off, some here say it's actually 9300 or 9400) DOES help the acceleration, especially the 3rd to 4th shift (89/90 mph at redline) that can kill its trap speed. While max torque is at 5500rpm, max power is at 8500rpm, and when you shift at the fuel cut rather than redline, your rpm's in the next gear will start closer to max power rpm's.

You all should try it, you'll see how much quicker it'll feel.
