Do 60K servicing before dealer compression test?

I am due for my 60K servicing at a local 3rd party Mazda specialist. My 100K extended engine warranty is up in November 2013. I've never done a compression test before and would like to do one before the warranty is up.

Should I do the compression test before I waste $$ on 60K servicing on an engine that may get replaced?

Compression check should be between $100-$150 depending on the dealership. IMO it is worth the money if your warranty is about up. I'd do it at a Mazda dealership though just so they do not need to do their own test to confirm a 3rd party's rest results.

Thanks for the pricing. I was going to do it a local Mazda dealer so they won't ask questions.

So should I go in for my compression test before my 60K servicing?

i would do the compression check before the service. that way you know the engine is good before you service it.

although, if you did it the other way around, worst case you remove 4 new spark plugs from old engine and screw them into new engine

Thanks - unfortunately, the labor (never cheap) can't go towards the new engine.

Do a compression test before the warranty expires. If you don't, it may lose compression after the warranty period. I would do the same when mine is about to expire. Good luck and update us when you do.
