Checking oil - question
Hey guys,
I'm a new owner of a 2011 R3. I know to check the oil every other fill up, my question is, does it matter what the engine temp is when you check it? Will you get a different result if the engine is at a normal operating temp versus if it's cold? Also, I assume you simply carry a quart or two of oil with you at all times? Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the best time to check it is 5-10mins after you have driven it, thus allowing the oil back into the pan. This is why checking at a gas station or the like is so convenient.
As far as carrying oil goes, keep a quart or two on the car at all times in case of emergencies. The strap in the trunk (holding the tire repair kit in place) can be loosened and fits a quart of oil perfectly along with the repair kit.
