Catalytic converter blown

My car ran rough in hot weather and would not idle smoothly It threw a P2096 error. took it to the dealer, who is a friend, and they have found that the cat has melted and most of it now resides in the rear muffler. A new cat is $3300 in oz, but only about $1500 delivered from the states. Does anyone know if the rhd cat and lhd cat are the same part, or is ther any difference in design tio accommodate the different positioning of parts in rhd v lhd?
