Back of the front seats...

Ok-my kids haven't sat in the back yet. But I was wondering what you all do to keep their shoes from ruining the back of the front seat when they do go back there. I'm not sure I want to throw seat covers on the 8. Should I tied them up? :D

The trunk is large enough to hold two small kids. I suggest opening the pass through for air, espically in the summer!

Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

Kids, shoes off!

I wish that I had that compartment in the backseat where I could put stuff. Instead we get the two drink holders.

I donno how big you need for a campartment but there is one inbetween the two back seats leading to the trunk (the thing with the lock on it)

amputate their feet?

I had the same issue with my kids in my other car - the way we solved it was amazingly simple -- we bought big down slippers in adult sizes from Restoration Hardware (I think they are called "foot duvets") - and kept them in my car stuffed into the map pockets. Then we just slipped them over the kids' shoes when we put them in the car seat - they were called "daddy's car shoe socks" (hey, whatever ...), and the kids enjoyed wearing them.

Just wipe the seatbacks down when they get out... small inconvenience for the joys of having children...

The problem is that their shoes can scratch the seatback - if it's leather it will leave long digs in it (my brain not working - can't remember what my seatbacks look like). My "Daddy's Shoe Socks" thing worked great - the kids thought they were cool, and we just kept them in the car and every now and again tossed them in the washer.

Take the wife's minivan....or if she's a "modern" mom, the SUV! :D
Who wants to interfere with the 8 experience by introducing kids into the vehicle?

My first thought was "Take their shoes off."

My second thought was, "Okay... NOW I know why whenever I'm in an airplane or a movie theater I'm constantly having to turn around and glare at the brat behind me who won't stop kicking the back of my seat!"

Maybe you should simply teach the kids that FEET SHOULDN'T TOUCH THE SEATS. There are lots of people destined to sit in front of your kids in the future who will thank you, and it will spare your little darlings the trauma of being scolded by a pissed off stranger.

That's what I do- they get the seat backs dirty, salty and muddy, but it wipes off and is good as new. I think it also helps I keep the leather surfaces conditioned. It would take some pretty good kicking actually cause damage (and I don't expect that to happen since they have respect for my car, through fear )

Agreed, G8rboy... besides, the kids are usually too busy hanging on for dear life going around a corner to bother with kicking the seats...
