Why are Mazda's accessory prices and parts so dang high? They seem even higher then for my BMW Z3. If you had to buy the car with these prices by part I bet the car would cost close to $100K.

Yeah...try buying a sun-shield from Mazda...I think it was over $60!
My parts guy said that mazda's feeling is that if you can afford the car then you can afford the higher prices for the extra goodies.
frazzle on them!

Umm...it's no secret that all replacement and dealer accessories are expensive....I bet Kia guys complain about their parts prices as well as Ferrari guys...It doesn't matter the manufacturer, the dealer is usually more expensive, but you do get what you pay for...

screwem! they'll learn . they haven't had a genuine sportscar since the last 7 so they hav eno grasp as to what the market prices should be for their spec after market parts. they will soon learn and adjust prices. their prices are ridiculous.

I don't like buying or having my cars work on at the dealerships but I know the job and the parts are of higher quality most of the time. Plus you get a better warranty.

Yeah lots of things in this world are not what you want. But what are you going to do about it? Hopefully if the 8 becomes what the Miata was, we could see a drop in lot of things.

THis is typical of most Japanese car parts prices and MORE importantly equally affects maintenance parts one will need long term. Subaru and Mazda have exhorbitant prices for parts and Toyota et al are not really much if any better. Making it worse - dealers are poorly stocked. Most Japanese makes have over priced inefficent parts networks. This is probably the one reason I would consider not ownering Japanese cars - its their achilles heal so to speak. The internet and those 'discount' dealers that try and fix this thru cheaper prices and volume helps however.

VW coulda had it...
An air filter element came to $41 something (w/tax) at the dealer. I would have ordered from Mazdaformance had I known this, (around $28 and I suppose ~$6 shipping) but after telling the parts person what you need, and he or she sets it on the counter in front of you, you've already bought it. (even a cheap*&!#"^ such as myself)
Subaru has a few of the basics made in the U.S., like the air filter element anyway; I think it was less than $17 for my WRX. Maybe that helps reduce price.
