1st RX8 at dealer no pre-order
My dealer called today saying they just got 1 RX8 but it wasn't a pre-sold. It matched my pre-order options but didn't have the red and black leather, just the black.
So I went to take a look, was the first to test drive it and got it!
Non of the other sales people even got to drive it yet so I was lucky.
They are doing the preping and seeing if they can get a lower rate then Peoplefirst right now. I'm going to pick it up in 30 min.
Looks like Mazda is sending out unclaimed RX8's so dealers can put them in the showroom first.

Good News and Bad News
Good:
The cars have hit Atlanta and look great. I got to see a bunch of color combos and options in person. I knew more than the dealers for the most part about everythin related to this car. I swear a saw a few of the guys whip out palm pilots and note pads to jot things I was saying down All learned, of course, from this great forum. Unlike other posts, I believe the leather is 1million times better than the faded, multi-fabric cloth seats that trust me are going to fade in a week of sun (note the back of those seats are not titaniumj hard shells like the leather one either)
Bad:
There are at least 9 cars available in Metro Atlanta. Reds, Blacks, Blue, Grey . . . sport, GT, auto or manual -- while this fake pre-order system cars are still at port or on water. It was just a sneaky, BS way of getting quick sales early in the financial quarter. They honestly do not give a rat's *** about the true enthiusiast or the novelty of the pre-order program. They look at us chump suckers who just want the car before it was made . . . like they are doing us a favor. Two local Atlanta dealerships let me do whatever I wanted to pre-order (SOLD) cars. Both times they asked if wanted to test drive it and rev it -- even have salepeople drive the car around with me!! I refused both times and told them that a PRE-ORDER is sort a sacred hands-off thing. One dealer said, "What he won't know won't hurt him, come on get in . . . you are my customer right now." The other was even more disturbing, "He who probably be upset, except that we told him the car would not be here until FRIDAY." I walked out of both places furious. F these salespeople. GUYS IN ATLANTA GO GET YOUR CARS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am scared to post the dealers since they are only a handful here and I will easily get sued or something . . . besides I am scared about backlash since I still have my car on the water to a local dealership.

Mazda sucks
I hate to say this but I am going to check out the 350Z tomorrow. If Mazda wants to hold my car at port while shipping the non-presold cars, they can keep mine. Unless I get some good news tomorrow I'll be the next Z driver in Ohio.

Wow this car is fun fun. Well worth it. Drove it all last night and its now got 60 miles on it. Did have 3 when I test drove it.
Bad news I got bug splat all over the front now.
The gauges were awfully bright at night until I found out how to turn the on the red lights. I thought this car had auto lights that turn on and off. A neat feature I had in my celica. Oh well just have to do it myself now.
Nav is great. Just can figure out how to cancel a destination. It keeps telling me to make a U turn when possible lol. I like the way it dims just right at night time.

Let's not get hasty...when did you guys order your cars?
I know the pre-ordered ones have already been delivered. If you ordered one in the last month or so, yours probably isn't in, yet. Dealers are getting some in that they can sell off the lot, though. They usually don't last long. If you want to get "exactly" what you want, then wait for your ordered vehicle. If you want to take one from dealer stock, that may or may not be exactly what you ordered, you can do that too.

I got lucky in that my dealer had ordered a car just the way I wanted it from his first allocation, and didnt have it presold :D
Muahahahahaha. Good thing I dont like leather or I would be waiting for my car to get here any day now instead of driving for 2 months.

Me too. Knew exactly what I wanted. Did an inventory search through the hole in Mazdas system--wasn't open like it is now. Wrote down a couple of vin numbers and went to the dealer the day they got thier first 8 in. Test drove it and asked if the vins were pre-orders or just inventory cars. The vin of my first choice was available and I put a deposit down on the spot. Then it was 2-3 weeks of hell waiting for it to be delivered. Now I'm at 4000 miles and still loving it.
