132 mph in Auto ? on 124.5 limiter
I've seen in few of the threads that the Auto is limited to 124.5 mph. I find this to be false or my speedo is wrong. Way wrong.
At the track I reached 132mph in the straight strech of track before slowing for the next bend.
I would like to hear from someone who can clear the air on this.
I have not done any performace mods to this car yet.
Thanks

in my auto i hit 119 so far, i've heard some people say the ecu kicks you out at 98 mph in the auto... i'm sure thats wrong now. Next week i'm going to try to break 125, so i'll get back to you on the 124.5 bit, but i highly doubt its real. good job getting up to 132, i perfectly well believe it. Also from what i've read these tires are only rated to 150 mph, and so i don't think it wise with performance tires to try to go too close to 150, if the tires start to slip at those speeds your in trouble.

hmmm. I thought we were given Z rated tires... is that not true? (need to check now)...
hmmm. I wonder what solutions are out there that can remove this speed governor...

I think the Potenza RE040 225/45/18 tires have a W speed rating
Bridgestone speed rating page for W is 168 MPH

Stuck in a love triangle
Whenever I reach 124 the power to throttle kicks off and sends me back down to121. The samethinghappens over and over. I dont know how you got to 132. Maybe yourgovernor is set higher

I hope more auto's are able to reach this mph. It just seems odd that 124.5 is suppose to be it. If there is a limiter I sure would like to know how to disable it to see what this car can really do. All done on the track for safety reasons of course.

Yes, I had it off because I have noticed that the car revs quicker and smoother then with it on. The temperment is night and day to one another. It seems in the 3000 rpm range is where in bougs down at and to long of a hesitation. You loose alot when you approach areas of the track.

Stuck in a love triangle
Wow!! I am both happy and disappointedto hear that mmmdowning. You see the times I reached 124 over and over has always been during a weekday drive around 3:30 am on i95. I wouldnt dare turn off TCS or DSC while drivingon the highway at speeds over 90mph for obvious reasons. Perhaps the solution to going over 124 on auto is disabling the TCS. This would mean that the auto can actually do more than 124 whichis reassuring but maybe not w/o also disabling the safety features. If I were driving over 125 I would definitely want the TCS and DSC on. I dont know when Ill be able to test thisthough --maybe I will grow bigger cojones by the middle of this week and go for a stroll. This may also be the case for manual cars. Maybe they can go over 148 when they fully disable TCS and DSC as well.

Guys early thismorning I put my lifein danger to findout if I was right about the speed limitbeing toned down for safety. I completely disabled TCS and DSC and wentstraight to the highway at 3:45. I got to 125 again and thenthe car killed thethrottle like it always does. I tried thisboth w/manual shifting and plain automatic. So TCS and DSC havenothing to do w/the limited speed. mmmdowning consider yourselfvery very lucky!!

Well I have the 6 speed manual and me and a buddy of mine took my 8 out to Penisula Expressway, it's like a 5 mile straight away. Well we got it up to 121 without a problem, and still had all of 6th gear left to go. I'm going to go to Savage raceway and see what kind of track they have if it's a good track with a long enough straight away I'll give it a shot. Also can you tell me how to turn off the Traction Control, I don't have DBS or whatever that other option is. Actually for that matter I don't think I have traction control either beings I have the Base Model 6 speed. but I could be wrong.

Got It up to 108mph on the turnpike but it was to much traffic to go any faster. However, I will try again on of these days. DSC/TCS want matter if is on or off, because the speed limiter or governor is two different things. The only way to eliminate the governor is to get an after market ECU. And then after you go back to the dealer for service and they see the aftermarket ECU they will “flash it” and your back where you started again.

I have most def been over 125mph in the auto 8. I didnt feel any cutting off of the gas tho. I wonder if theres something wrong with my car or maybe something wrong with yours. But I did go over 125 and my buddy was in the car to look at the speed too!

Its so ironic that this forum doesnt have a "kills" or "street racing section" and that all talk about racing on the street is frowned upon.
BUt when people start talking about top speed runs (IMO WAY MORE DANGEROUS) no one cares.
So i was testing out my top speed...and it just so happened that this M3 right beside me was testing out his top speed too! No we werent racing, just happened to test out our top speeds right beside eachother....my top speed was faster :p

The number 124.5 is not so odd when you consider that 124.5 mph is 200 kph. As far as going faster than that, it's possible that mmmdowning was going downhill when he backed off, so that he gained speed while off the power. Possible?
