2009 BOTD Event: POSTPONED
Well, for those of you who do not get a copy of the newsletter. Please see below.....
After lengthy discussion among board members it is with great regret that we must announce the postponement of the Dragon event this year. Due to economic troubles, postponement of sponsorships and planning time, the board has decided that the best action for this event is to postpone until 2010. This will give us the ability to add time to the planning, allow us to change the date to a summer date where more people can attend and allow some economic recovery. We are by no means canceling the event completely, only postponing it. We do still have one raffle going on right now and we plan to continue that raffle and others as the year progresses. Thank you to all of the Board Members for helping work through this decision and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2010!!

I have the same sentiments guys. My group here in Central Virginia would gladly help organize an unofficial Dragon trip. Maybe a shorter event. More of an "on your own" event schedule. Definitely still have a Saturday car show though.
Any more interest?

definitely wont be an "on your own" event for me. thats the whole point of botd is getting together and experiencing everything as a group and getting to know people.
DGRR is cool, but its so big and so "on your own" you dont really get to know anyone and its hard to know whats going on.
i would be down for sevenstock

Sad news, I was really looking forward to this. One of the reasons I didn't attend DGRR09 was so I could attend BOTD09, sadly I could only do 1 event this year and chose BOTD09 for the same reasons stated above by G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY. Plus my family enjoyed this event much more.

Let me redefine "on your own". My intent was to say tons of planning in the way of food and activities aren't necessary. All of the items added into your weekend just raised the registration price and forced someone to spend a lot of time organizing and obtaining prices for a group.
A large show on Saturday could be the main event. Activities before, during and after the show. Lunches and dinners would be at your discretion. We would still do t-shirts, have some show trophies, offer other activities such as white water rafting, yada, yada, yada. But to cut costs, shortening the event is sensible. Three nights in a resort is probably the max people will want to throw up this year.
Anyway, I'm just guessing at how some of this would play out. Feedback is a must. And it would have to be pretty fast feedback, hell it's May already!

Not many comments from the 8club crowd, but I thought it would be worthwhile to post this anyway. The dates for our substitute BOTD event are August 14th-16th. Talking to the resorts now and more info will be provided in a new thread soon.
It would still be nice to know how many of you are interested and available now that we have dates.

I would love for this to happen. I have been thinking about just planing a trip on my own, but it would be cool to check out some other 8's and meet some other 8 enthusiast.
