New owner New Challenges in PR.

Greetings to al Rx8 Owners;
I purchased this January a 2006 RX8 GT Manual Trans with 144,000 miles. I live in Puerto Rico and previous owner purchased It from someone that imported the car from USA.
At the moment of testing the car seemed fine. It had the check engine light on and radiator coolant level sensor also is bad. Intake system had a crack in the ruber conection house.
After the purchase I installed the following parts
1. Injen Intake. (factory was broken)
2. Benet Built LS2 coil conversion
3. Benet Built MSD 8,5mm Leads
4. SSV Valve
5. Spark Plugs
6. A/C Compressor
7. A/C Front Condenser
8. Radiator cap
9. New Thermostat
10. No Cat Installed
11. Flushed radiator and new coolant
12. Previous owner installed OPL Aluminum radiator. ( seems like cheap ebay stuff)
13. Fresh Engine Oil.

To Do List

1. Radiator over flow thank
2. Under body Splash guard fabrication in aluminum ( factory Is Missing)
3. Left Radiator Fan motor (AMP are around 5 should be 7-11amp)
4. Change Manual Trans Oil.
5. Change Rear Dif. Oil

Since all of this Maintenance I still have various symptoms
1. Cooling, After I drive the car hard and stop the coolant overflow boils and it excapes.
2. Engine will start rough and have no power. After a while it will go back to normal. I can stop and start the engine normally after warm up, but if y let the engine of for 30min or more the same symptom will appear. DTC P0302 Rear rotor Misfire detected appears.
a. After finding code I checked rotor 2 spark plugs and found them slightly wet with oily residue. Cannot tell if its coolant or oil. PS: Front rotor are dry.
3. After driving for a few hours the engine loses power and hesitates around 6000rpm. If I continue driving the same will happen in 4000rpm until the engine stops, then I wait for 15 min and it will start back up. But if I stop the engine once the first symptom appears for 1-2 min upon star up the engine will continue working fine.

I have some photos and videos once I figure out the how to upload them I will update. Any Feedbak on this will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, DannyCrayola

Issue #1 is related to your radiator and lack of the under tray. The tray helps force air through the radiator. Without the tray, bad things happen. You can pick up an aluminum one for not too much money, or grab a stock one from a part out. The stock radiator is pretty good for what it does, but your imitation one may not be as good.

Have you had a rotary compression test done?

I was thinking the same regarding the udertray. I will install it and add the foam around the radiator to see if it helps. i performed my own compression test with a normal gauge. front rotor pulses between 95 -100 PSI, rear rotor Pulses 90-95 PSI. Did not got a reading on RPM. Will Try again.

Unfortunately, you won't get good results with a regular compression tester. You have to test all three faces, at a very low rpm. Is there a mazda dealer in PR?

BTW, someone just started a part out. Maybe he can help you?

In thiese Pictures are Spark plugs removed this morning after worm up. Front rotor spark plugs not pictures were dry and looked normal. I took some pics of the combustion chambers to compare.

Rear rotor (#2) spark plugs look slightly wet.

Peek into rear rotor You can see also wet.

Rear Rotor Diferent focus

Front Rotor very dry combustion chamber.

Under tray, radiator overflow tank and fans should solve he over heating problem. startup misfire at startup and misfire after a few hours of driving are may mayor concerns. my hunch tells me it might me water jacket seal failure or oil seal failure in Rotor back rotor (#2). I will source a professional with the correct compression tester to get it done.

Thank you for your help.

There's No smoke or steam coming out. Which is good. Talked to the dealer and Tomorrow morning I will be going to get the compression test done. Also there going to check if any recalls aply. I will update the results.

Update

Today a built a Aluminum Under tray for my 8 and added foam around the radiator. Wile I am driving temp stay around 180 F (using a ODBII scanner) but ones witch is way better than before. hard driving it went up to 192 F. After 1 hour of hard driving I stopped for fuel and and start up got the steam out of the muffle. So my suspicions are over coolant is getting in the combustion chamber.
