Could I get someone to take a picture of their tail lights they know for absolute certain are stock? I need the little inside panel showing the manufacturer and part number under the trunk lid when it's closed, and the DOT stamp on the inside as well.
Does anyone have a DOT stamp on the actual lens itself?

ill upload them in a few as i just walked outside.
he is a moron as the DOT code is not on the lens but on the side of the housing when you open the trunk. I looked at a bunch of other cars and they're the same way.
Get his inspection number and report his dumbass
I know, i need a new lens...lol

I guess he is citing section 4, letter k. But that also doesnt say where the approval has to be stamped on the lens so he of course is wrong.

He can state that all he wants, he's wrong.
Spoke with the state police supervisor who looked them up online. He asked me to send him pictures and agrees they are stock. He's calling the inspection station now to tell the guy to pass me...
In your face!

Yeah, unfortunately he also failed my clear corners and I forgot my wheel locks so he has to check the rear brakes still, which I just replaced a week ago so that should be ok. I'm swapping in amber bulbs in the side markers too.
I can watch him approve the tail lights and side markers, but I can't stand over him as he checks my rear brakes. Ugh.

Driving my unreliable rx8
how did you pay? if by card go to another place get the approval and just deny the first payment. If he's too stupid to reconize a stock light then don't feel bad about taking your money back.

Passed my inspection. The inspector said shortly after I left yesterday another 8 came in for inspection. He said the car had the exact same tail lights as me. So he figured they must be stock and passed him...

Some places are just trying to get more money out of you. Don't feal bad my inspection guy wiped out his tint checker this year (have had him do my inspection for 3 years now and never did this) and gose nope it won't pass we can take it off for $150. I went strait to the troopers station (BTW his little crap machine said my tint was at 7%) had them do the same thing they get 30% and slap a tint sticker on it and told me "have the dumb *** read that and tell him to have his meter fixed or we will pull his right to inspect" happy ending
