Red a ticket magnet?

Coming up I35 to work this morning, I was trying to get around a group of semi's so I was doing about 90 with a Dodge Ram that fell in behind me. We crested a hill and there they were. Two motorcycle officers working radar. I muttered to myself, Oh S--t, as they turned on their lights. I had moved to the center lane and the Dodge stayed in the right lane. They pulled up behind the Dodge and I breathed a sigh of relief. The officers swung out and pulled behind me and that little bead of sweat appeared on my forehead. Knew I was fixing to get my first ticket in 15 years! Suddenly, they whipped around me and pulled over a silver Contour that was about 50 yards ahead of me that was going considerably slower than either of us. I guess red doesn't equate to a sure ticket or the officers really liked the 8.

I, unfortunately, did not dodge your bullet when I got my first ticket with my Blue 8 on 10/30 on the service road of Highway 67 at I-20. Good for you, Bad for me.

I think the "new" red is actually white. There are so many cars/trucks on the roads nowadays that are red, they have become common. I think I read somewhere that the main colors that attract attention are White, Yellow, and ???. There's another one, but I can't remember. Less white and yellow cars on the road, thus they are more noticable. Good for you Mike. :D

(Hey Mike, where's my car?....lol......check your pm's)

Some guy was telling me that it's erratic movements (or noticeably faster than the rest-of-the-pack) movements that catch a cop's eye; more-so than color. I have driven a red Mustang GT V8 for 3 years and my last ticket was in 1988. Of course I did spring for a very-handy radar-detector the first week I owned the 'stang. It'll soon be transferred to the new RX8....

well driving erratically may get their attention, but one thing i would like to note is that on major interstates like I-5 everybody is doing 75-90 and all any cop has to do is choose at random a car that looks like his ex-wife's and BINGO $225 ticket for you.

You talking bout I-5 in CA, or I-35 in TX?

And yes, everybody's flying on I-35 in central Texas. Personally, as most on the forum know how I feel bout the subject, I say ticket someone if they're going that fast. If you feel the need to drive 90, take it to a track...lol

There's a reason the 50 mile stretch of I-35 from San Marcos to Georgetown is rated the deadliest stretch of Highway in the US. Don't know if it still is, but 2 years ago it was.Grrrrr

I'm still of the opinion that someone driving UNDER the speed limit is FAR more likely to cause an accident than someone going over.

I believe that red brake lights are a ticket magnet. If you pass an officer, let off the brakes before you actually get by him. Even if you are speeding.

I think this has saved me several tickets.

You think 90mph is that fast?
I live at the border by Germany, and there I sometimes drive +140mph (about 230km/h), LEGALLY on the highway!!

It's really fun, but they really drive different over there. They know people on the left lane are or could be fast. So slow vehicles stay right and doesn't do stupid movements.
It should be legal on highways al over the world :D

And I mean that. There happen less accidents than in my country (Belgium) and here we're only allowed to do 75mph too.
On the other hand, they're also much more strict on car inspections. All tuning parts have their approvements, if not, you go to an inspection centre to have approvement of the change you did. Here in Belgium, we aren't even allowed to put coil-overs on our cars . . .

This is what can happen at 90 MPH if you lose control. I drive 90-100 all the time but late at night with little traffic. You do have to be careful.

I wish the picture was on here, it is intense. My prayers go out to the families involved.

Link no longer works, but was a bad one-car wreck, tore car in half when hit a light pole on the freeway.
