Question VW Golf to go, what next car?

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. Her VW Golf is getting old and repair costs started to sky rocket. She wants a new car in a month or two. She likes something not too small not too big, doesn't care for sporty cars, likes something that can carry a baby when she has one. I am trying to get her to try the RX-8, but she thinks it is too expensive and don't have enough space. Any ideas on how to convince her? What are the other good choices?

Thanks.

Good point, I never would have thought of this car. (I am mostly into Japanese and European cars.) I heard the focus drives like a BMW at 1/2 the price.

As much as I love my RX-8, I would NEVER recommend the RX-8 to someone unless they were a rotary fan. If you just want a car to drive around, the rx-8 can be a hassle.

The hyunda sonata is actually a nice car for the money.

The New GTI is really a hoot. Tried it just a couple of weeks ago, LOTS of fun...

I also drove a 2006 Miata, and they are seriously cool. Bigger, more powerful, awesome handling and a gearbox that is jewel like. Fun to drive even at 6'1". Oh and they are a good value too, $22K or so brand new with leather and some options.

She can do what I did. Go from a Golf to an Impreza. Only I'd recommend the the 2.5i sedan or wagon, not the STI. lol Hell maybe a wrx wagon. I think a mazda 3, 5 door is a perfect replacement. It's a gorgous car with plenty of room, lots of refinement, and decent power. The RX8 is definitely not the right choice for her at all. That would likely be a big mistake. Of course a new Golf or Jetta is always the most logical option, as long as she enjoyed her Golf.. Great deals on the 06 golfs will be coming, becuase the new 07 Golf is approaching this fall.

2006 GOLF GTI.......if AWD needed the any of the Subaru's.........I might add if she is into leasing maybe she should look into the Subaru B9 Tribeca.....they have an awesome 36 month lease which I got for my wife. She loves it and it gives a Lexus RX its run for their money when it come s for the interior, exterior looks I leave that to you guys cuz the Tribeca is a love or hate it look.

I think you're in the page with her. She is thinking of getting the Mazda 3 or Impreza. She had a bad experience with the golf ...lots of problems, so no more VW cars for her.
