Holy ****... 0-60 in the 3 second range with 225 (?) hp to the wheels. And they're developing a 400hp kit. That thing is gonna be a MONSTER.

That's impressive. I respect the hell out of that Elise. Lotus really has a winner with that bad boy. About time the USDM got to take it for a ride!

I don't know that the S2k engine would fit, it would probably cost nearly as much to cram it in there. It weighs more and it doesn't get 240hp to the wheels.

hmmm, so you are right. It looks like many prefer the K20 series to the F20's though. interesting stuff.

I've never heard of an S2K engine being put in an Elise, you sure you're not confused with one of the other engines Blueeyes mentioned Abbid? Not saying it doesn't happen but I've always seen the K20s in them. It's also larger and heavier than the 2ZZ and will net you about 200whp not 240, but lets not get into another engine weight debate :p

even if the turbo celica motor and the s2k motor were making the same power at the wheels, the turbo car would have a much better power band, tuned corectly.

Also, ive driven the current elise and its alread a beast...shoots off the line and theres no need to slow for corners. With adding this much power, its kinda pointless. Its more power than you can really use in that chasie.

isn't the s2k engine front to back, and the engine in the elise sideways/horizontal/whatever? I'd have to side with Ike, they are heavier and I'm pretty sure they're a bit bigger too.

Just saw the price of the kit, for that price (7k) you'd be lucky to even get a drivetrain installed that will work with the F20 in an Elise. It may fit and it may work but I can guarantee you it's not an easy swap. So you'd be doing a very difficult swap that will cost more than the kit and ending up with 40 less WHP. If you're going to do such a difficult swap then you might as well just do an RB20det

650 hp Lotus is comming from Croatia in a few weeks or something. One of my friends is building it. They came back from England (Lotus factory) couple of days ago.
They will use 2 gsxr-1000 supercharged engine, m3 diff, custom gearbox, electromagnetic clutch (20-30 msec gear change) and so on. The car will be couple of cm longer and wider.

btw, they are also planing to plannig to sell around 50 of them, so if any one has 150 000 Euro

Here are some pictures from our magazine

Why not build a rotary based Elise. We know the rotary will fit in there. That would be better than putting one in the Miata, well maybe.

err, nobody has ever suggested putting a rotary in a lotus... ever ever.

I'd search, but I don't feel like seeing the flame wars again.

They messed up the gear ratios, new gerbox is being fabricated.
1/4 mile is around 400 meters, at 300 meters they come to the end of the 6th gear, and they they have to roll to the end in neutral. TIME is 10.8 !!!!

When they finish i think the car will go under 10 sec

Rotary powered elise would be awesome. A friend of mine just bought himself an elise this summer.. holy crap, that thing totally makes the RX8 feel like a pregnant sow.

Dual engine-ing the car is a travesty. Save that crap for a Mini project (since they actually MADE dual engined oldskool minis back in the day).. doing it to an already well balanced car is just masturbatory and most likely detrimental to the overall balance of the car. Of course, if all you care about is how fast you can burn off the 1/4... just buy a motorcycle in the first place.
