2016 Scion iA Preview - CNET
Confirmed...
Good god that is UGLY!
I know there are design limitations, but how can any 'artist' pen such an awful front.
Almost like they (Toyota) wants it to fail.

business wise, is good for Mazda, but this is NOT the best way to promote the new target thats is aiming. that car is an ugly Mazda 2.

I think this deal with Mazda making some cars for Toyota (Scion) in Mexico is a trading/licence deal for Mazda Japan (only) using Toyota Prius hybrid parts in the JDM Mazda 3 Hybrid.
BTW: Can not remember if I said it here but the new Mazda Mexico plant will be making the 2 in LHD for North America as we know, but also for all of Europe, all RHD made 2's (Australia, UK, NZ, South Africa etc) in the Mazda Thailand plant.
Gives MMC's old Hiroshima plants some extra capacity for the CX-3 production which will only be made in Japan at this stage..

Australia to get the new Mazda 2 Sedan this August (Made in Thailand) to compliment the hatch which has been on sale for a few months now.
Now which one looks better the Scion or the Mazda 2, same car.

Yup, I wonder how it will sell (4 door MZ 2 Sedan) here in Australia?..
The old DE Mazda 2 Sedan was imported here for a while (6 months) when MMC was sourcing all 2's out of Thailand, it (sedan) never took off.
I ran into a few on the road and BOY was that **** big and shooting up to the sky, a big **** on a little frame...
I think the new DJ Mazda 2 is a better design today all-round, so we will see..

Under the partnership, Toyota plans to supply fuel cell and plug-in-hybrid technology to Mazda, which has lagged in electric-vehicle technology, the newspaper said.
In return, Mazda will consider offering its proprietary "Skyactiv" green technology to Toyota, which it hopes to use to grow its line of fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel vehicles.
The two automakers will also consider cooperating in other areas, including Mazda's procurement of commercial vehicles from the Toyota group and joint purchasing of auto parts, it added.
The two firms have previously worked together in several fields and achieved some positive results.
Toyota provided hybrid-vehicle technology to Mazda in 2010, while Mazda agreed in 2012 to supply subcompact cars from a Mexican plant to Toyota.
The result, the Scion i-A, the first Mazda, badged as a Toyota out of MMMe new plant.

SCION is dead....
Toyota US has announced that the "Scion" brand is dead, and will be wound up.
Most wholesale workers will be without a job, or need to re-apply to Toyota.
Only 13 years old, Scion was meant to be a 'young' brand, average age though was apparently 49.
How many 'young' people have money to buy a brand new car?....today they are not interested in cars.
I always found it a bit dopey (still do) as Why any car brand re-badges the same car with a different name...people are not stupid, a Scion was always a Toyota, just like Acura (another one) is a Honda, etc.
Only one which has been relatively successful (in US anyway) is Lexus.
Anyway, I guess the Mexican Mazda 2 , sorry Scion iA will still be supplied to Toyota, probably as a Yaris sedan. I think Toyota are contracted for 3 years.
