New Saturn Comercials

The one with the tool that is talking about how he chose his Saturn Ion over a Z4 because it's faster just cracks me up. The other one with the guy that's bragging about how his Saturn has 140hp and gets good gas mileage and you don't have to sacrifice power to get good gas mileage. Since when it 140hp good power and low 30s mpg anything special??? Hell, I can get around 30mpg on the highway with my car and it's modded...

Are these commercials bugging anyone else, or am I the only one?

I watch WAY too much tv, but I can't say I've seen any of these commercials...Not even when I watch Speed. (during the 20 or so minutes per week that they aren't showing Nascar footage)

I seriously hate that, I've all but given up on Speed. I just set the DVR to record WRC and am done with it. Every once in a while I'll catch F1 late at night but I've gotten out of the habit of even checking Speed lately.

You seem to have the same reasons for watching Speed as I do, which makes it a pretty easy channel to overlook...Though, I will watch about any form of racing aside from ovals. (Touring, LeMans, and all those series are great, it's too bad 99.5% of their programming is Nascar or some related series) Have you seen their new "reality" programming? It may be some of the worst television I've ever witnessed.

Everytime I watch that commercial I feel a little bit stupider.

What's the Ion claiming? No doubt they're comparing it to the 2.5i, which BMW says is 7.1 seconds.
For the Z4 3.0i they say 5.9 seconds.

Yeah, it's just like those retarded Dodge commercials where they try to slam the 3-series as being too expensive. You know, the one with the kid delivering pizza in the BMW.

I think BMW should do a spoof of these commercials. Some tool will start blathering on about how great his econobox is, then a guy in a BMW will drive up and say, "Oh yeah? Well I make more ******* money than you." Then the econobox guy's girlfriend will get into the BMW and they'll drive off laughing. Then the announcer will come on and say "BMW: because you make more ******* money than them."

Son is Saturnine.....

Went with #1 son to the Auto Show in Feb, he is looking for his first 'real' car.....

Sat in most of his picks, tried the gearshift, clutch etc., and his overall choice was the Saturn Redline! Black, bodykit, tint, Recaro seats, suicide door, and a supercharger....probably has more power than my '8!

It's rated 220hp, IIRC, a quick 'chip' and it will be a rubber burner.

Damn cheap too!

Not a chip as much as a pulley which is even cheaper. They're not bad little cars for the price, though I prefer the Cobalt SS. I just can't stand the way they're marketing them. It seems all American automakers are going the same route as well. Just take a look at the latest Cherokee commercial and the new G6 commercials where they compare it to a 2.5 Altima when they're talking about their 6 cylinder G6...

That's a good little car but I don't think it's quite as quick as the RX-8. My older brother is the finance manager for a couple Saturn dealerships in Utah and he let me test drive an '04 model last summer. Here's the review I did on the SRT forums...

Faster than an RX-8 but not quite as quick due to the FWD.
