New Mazda Axela or 3 with GVC or G Vectoring Control
MMC has just released a new updated Axela (Mazda 3) in Japan today.
Also introduced the 1.5l Skyactiv Diesel along with the normal 2.2 SA-D in the Axela, along with the Gasoline, and Hybrid models (Japan only).
Updated HUD, but still projected on plastic flip screen (why they did not go the full HUD on actual front windscreen glass type like in new TC CX-9?
Some new colours for the 3 and improved features.
new Eternal Blue Mica and Sonic Silver Metallic.
Machine Gray Premium Metallic (from new MX-5 RF and new CX-9)
Soul Red Premium Metallic (usual suspect).
BUT, the all new feature for a first in any new Mazda is their G-Vectoring Control or GVC.
What is GVC...
G-Vectoring Control uses the engine to enhance chassis behaviour and with it handling as well as ride comfort. It’s the first system in the world* to vary engine torque based on steering input, thereby controlling lateral and longitudinal acceleration and deceleration forces to optimise the vertical load on each wheel. This improves traction, inspiring driver confidence and heightening driving fun. The car’s behaviour more closely matches the driver’s intentions, so it also reduces the need for even unconscious steering corrections – and with it driver fatigue. And by smoothening the transition of forces, GVC boosts comfort by decreasing torso sway.
The technology benefits drivers of all skill levels in a wide range of situations including low-speed urban commutes, high-speed highway journeys, on winding roads, and even during emergency manoeuvres. In fact, GVC is especially effective on surfaces that are rough (like unpaved roads) or slippery (due to rain or snow), where the system advances vehicle handling significantly. GVC is highly versatile, too, being compatible with any kind of vehicle as long as it has a SKYACTIV engine to allow the necessarily precise control over torque output and a SKYACTIV-Chassis enabling such superior dynamic performance. As a software based system, it doesn’t add any weight to speak of, so it’s not at odds with the gram-cutting obsession of Mazda’s engineers.
* In a production model as of June 2016, according to Mazda research.
These vids explain GVC the best, IMO.

Mazda 3 gets offered in 8 colors:
Jet Black Mica
Blue Reflex Mica
Deep Crystal Blue Mica
Titanium Flash Mica
Liquid Silver Mica
Meteor Grey Mica
Snowflake White Pearl Mica
Soul Red
So, you have the standard Black, two versions of Grey (one dark, the other silver), you have a taupe/brown color, you have a Red, a White, and you have 2 blues.
What the heck other colors are you looking for?
Purple, Orange, School Bus Yellow, and British Racing Green?
Do you know how long those colors typically sit on dealership lots waiting for buyers to show up? Or how much they have to discount the car in order to sell them in that color?
No dealer wants those colors for a normal economy car, like the Mazda 3.
I'm still pissed that I couldn't get my CX-5 with a manual in either red or blue back in 2013. If I wanted a manual CX-5, it had to be black or grey, and a base Sport FWD.
But hey, if I want a Mazda 6 with a manual, I can choose any color, and I get to buy it either in the Sport or Touring trims.

I have a 2008 Mazda 3. Back then they had some pretty nice colors. Phantom blue, phantom purple and stormy blue mica were my favorites. I went with black mica but I regret it now.
Still, deep crystal blue looks pretty good on this new Mazda 3.

New updated Mazda 3 launch on August 1st. (Australia)
I suspect left had drive versions of BM for NA and EU (made @ Mazda Mexico Plant) will follow soon..
Diesels in the Mazda 3 for OZ have been dropped. (I wonder why, VW has killed diesel in passenger cars, they just don't sell.
Next will be the Mazda 6 2.2 diesel dropped and Mazda will then install the CX-9 2.5 Turbo instead , well my prediction for new year).
Mazda's updated SCBS-F Smart City Brake Support Forward, in the new 3 (and others later) to Advanced SCBS-F or ASCBS-F. The forward camera now scans a lot further out, will distinguish between side walk pedestrians and other hard objects (cars, buildings) and is active up to 80 KPH or about 50 MPH, instead of the old 30 KPH or 20 MPH. I assume this update will be in new AU spec Mazda 3.
This link is an Australian write up.

that HUD, is that similar to what's in the CX-3?
I remember checking that out recently on a buddy's car.
looks nice, can't wait to see one.

The all new CX-9 has an actual HUD projected on inside of windscreen, not this active flip up plastic (which gives problems with age, like deteriorating, miss-aligned).

Here is a pic of the ADD, Active Driving Display in the all new CX-9, this one is projected on actual windscreen....
IMO much better than the electrical flip up plastic glass used in the Mazda 3..
