First C6 Z06 into the 8's on pump gas
Street trim Corvette C6 Z06, full weight, drag radials, and it has air conditioning...
8.8 @ 154mph on 93 octane pump gas
Listen to this thing... and look how straight it tracks. Amazing. Can you imagine driving this on the street?
Had to post it... this is an "8" forum

Yes, they converted it to a four speed 4L80 automatic with a stall converter. The Z06 wasn't offered with an auto.
From experience with the GTO, we have many Autos that are far faster than the Manuals at the drag strip. You throw a stall in one of the A4's, and you can get 60ft's that just aren't possible with an M6. It's just extremely hard to launch and effectively put almost 1000whp to the ground with a standard transmission. Can it be done? Sure, but when you get to the power levels this Vette is at, it just makes sense to do the conversion.
So, believe it or not, in the high-powered GM world, the autos are actually preferred to the manuals at the drag strip... reverse of the RX8.
Now, from a roll, completely different story M6's rule from a roll.

Here's the dyno video BEFORE they did the auto conversion. Says the clutch was slipping at 954rwhp. I bet they were tuned for over 1000rwhp for those 8 second runs. Forged 427 LS7 aluminum block with a Vortech supercharger and meth.

LOL ya, CyberPitz, you would own him bad... but let him "think" he's fast.
So what's the next level up from "bus lengths"? :D I figure by the "a tenth is a car length" saying in drag racing that this thing would put 40 lengths on me. The rule probably doesn't apply when getting destroyed that badly.
Hell yah. A high horsepower LSx engine sounds nasty and beautiful at the same time.
Sure, the Supra and Viper boys have had streetable 8 second cars for a pretty long while. Just nice to see the C6Z following suit.

As im sure Yax will tell you, Automatic Tranny's are the norm at the strip, at least for the really high hp applications. Most people dont know that pretty much ALL those old school muscle cars are either using 2 speed automatic Powerglide tranny's or T400 3 speed auto tranny's. I mean, could you imagine attempting to manually shift a car that is pushing over 800whp thats equipped with slicks and pulling a wheelie off the line? LOL no thanks.
Yax, any clue the size of the tires? Those radials didnt look too wide. I would like to see what that thing could pull with some fat slicks on the back. Those first pulls he didnt even rev it up at all prior to the launch, and the last 2 were prob only 2K rpm launches. Sick

I'm almost sure the mh drag radials were 345's on 17's. I found the exact size a couple of days ago, but this video has been posted so many times all over the place now, and I cant find that damn forum thread where they had the info.
It's interesting it still has the IRS. I think if they put slicks on it, the back end of the car would just explode into a bunch of M&M sized pellets.
Also, doesn't have a roll cage, uses stock C5 axles, built diff, wheels are CCW dragpack, and the scales weighed it at 3350 lbs with the driver, 3800rpm stall converter.

You scratch the nitrous idea for some FI? Cool. My buddy had an APS TT kit on his GTO, and he was never really happy with it. When he finally blew up his stock internals LS2, he sold the APS kit and went to the STS along with a forged stroker 402.
Interested to see what you do... then you can run 8's easy :D
