AccessPORT JDM Version Now Available

The Cobb AccessPORT for the 2004 JDM models is now available.

Custom Calibrations are now available for those that have purchased their AccessPORT from another vendor.[/CENTER]

The Cobb AccessPORT allows the RX-8 PCM to be modified to accommodate for a wide variety of modifications and operating conditions, including FORCED INDUCTION.

The AccessPORT is the most user friendly reprogramming device for your vehicle's computer. The provided mapping will optimize the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing, remove the speed limiter, and more for performance results you can instantly feel!

But the AccessPORT is so much MORE than just a REFLASH DEVICE. It allows you to monitor your Fuel Economy (average and real time), perform performance tests in order to estimate your 0-60mph and 1/4 mile time, read and decipher ECU trouble codes (CELs), and monitor live data via the OEM vehicle sensors which eliminates the need for costly and cluttering aftermarket gauges!

Before installing your AccessPORT with MazdaManiac calibrations, please watch this video:

Quote:
This is a small utility designed to simplify the firmware update process. All AccessPORT firmware update processes have been moved to this stand-alone utility. Users no longer need to launch the AccessPORT Manager for firmware updates.

Once installed, run the AccessPORT Updater and it will automatically check for new versions of both the updater utility and the AccessPORT firmware for their AccessPORT model.
This new updater also updates your dongle to the newest firmware, so have it connected the the AccessPORT when you install.

All MazdaManiac calibrations for the AccessPORT include the following characteristics:
  • Increased idle speed (830 RPM typical - up to 1100 for the Pettit S/C)
  • Increased OMP output in all load ranges
  • Lower cooling fan turn on points
  • Improved low-gear throttle response
  • Lean fuel targets for light throttle and cruise conditions
  • Removal/cancellation of all or any emissions-related CELs
Further customization can be realized by way of increased engine redline, altered S-DAIS operation and a variety of "novelty" calibrations such as "valet" mode, "anti-theft" mode and other such single-purpose adjustments.

List of CELs masked by the MazdaManiac calibrations for the AccessPORT:

Hi MM,

Some questions:
1. Mine is a JDM 5 speed manual. I noticed on the website it says that the AccessPort is suitable for the 4AT model. Is it suitable for 5MTs? (any plans to develop one suitable for the 5MT?)

2. I currently have done a Knightsports ECU remap done. I suppose i can still install the AccessPort?

3. Any idea whats the improvement in HP, torque over the improvement given by the ECU remap?

Cheers.

It works with the standard-power 5mt as well.
The Knightsports ECU flash would be saved as the OE flash in the AccessPORT when you install it and can be returned to that state by uninstalling it.
For actual gains, it really depends on your current state of tune.
Presumably, the Knightsports tune is pretty good already, so you would probably see less improvement than someone that is running the OE Mazda calibration.

The biggest gains (besides drivability and durability improvements) are usually seen with turbo and supercharged RX-8s.

The biggest quaestion I have is that, knightsports only recommend OEM ignition parts on their map (came from their technician's mouth during the last remap session in Singapore), and I would like to have BHR coil on my car. If this myth solved, I would like to get a unit ASAP :D

BHR and OEM igniton has the same dwell and therefore no adjustments are required in the ECU.
Its unlikely Knight Sports (in Japan) would recommend BHR (in US). But that does not mean BHR coils are not compatible with KS flashed ECU.

^^ yup, you'll be fine with the BHR coils. I am assuming the reason they only recommend OEM is because some coils out there have different dwell setting then the OEM's (ie: Mazsport) so just to be on the safe side they only recommend OEM (that way they are certain the dwell settings have not been adjusted)

It's kind of like how mazda officially recommends against synthetics but after speaking with some of the Japanese engineers, I learned that they say that because not all synthetics are made the same... some are better then others but just to be safe, they say don't use them.
The point is, if you have a good solution that fits within factory parameters, you are fine.

Hi,

Can this AP be used as a tool for tuning individual fuel and timing maps in the stock ecu, i do not want a readily developed map, i want to tune my own...with my own fuel and timing map. if these are possible, i will order one set.

Let me know.

MM, do you think your 3071R base map can use on a top mount setup with the same turbo model?

My turbo base calibrations will work with any FI setup - as a base setup. You can't really drive it that way without tuning, though.

Thanks. Will it be sold as the same price as the custom calibrations you offer?
