So I booked my room at Fontana and me and a [HORROR] Evo VIII owner are going to head down that Friday (me thinks.) Anyone want to plan a caravan? I figure we will head out 66 to 81, so meeting at Tysons might not be a bad idea.

Yeah, I saw your thread and considered asking which way you were going. Interestingly, we are going to meet up with an FD owner (friend of my Evo buddy) who hails from Michigan. I dont know where in Mich but i will ask. Maybe the 7s have a caravan from around there?

I'm all for caravaning. Great Photo ops and makes the long boring drive through Ohio bearable. At least Kentucky and Tennessee have hills to make the scenery interesting.
Any info is appreciated. I'll also check the 7 forums.
These are the directions may quest is giving me, it looks like I should take I-85 & I-40. However I am supposed to hook up with a lynchburg 8. So I guess I could go out of the way to meet up with you and her.
Ack. I need a map. I have no idea where those places are.
Yeah. If you are in southarn VA you should prolly take I85. That make sense; however, for us, 66 to 81 makes more sence and shaves off more than an hour. So....
For folks that want to take the 85-40 route, where and when should they meet?
For folks that want to take the 66-81-40 route we will likely first meet somewhere around my house (Wheaton/Kensington MD on Georgia just north of the beltway) then somewhere around Tysons (Very near 66), then somewhere out nearthe 66-81 junction.
We need to get these people together on this broad so we can find out where everyone is at. I am willing to travel out of the way to caravan. I am going to PM some people to this tread.
Thanks Herblenny, I will check into this more and figure out where to go. I think however FOXYROXY in leesburg is going, and then I have a guy in Williamsburg and DC going as well. So I might drive out of the way to meet them.
You guys should all funnel down into Raleigh and ride with us so we'll have one massive rotary caravan to the gap :D. There are groups leaving from Ral wed, thu, and fri (afaik, the biggest group is leaving on Thursday at 9am). We could meet you guys somewhere on the way. Were basically taking I85 -> I40 -> gap (in a nutshell).

We're headed down on Friday from Leesburg. 81 straight down if anybody wants to meet up on the way. J2R, we could meet up down around Lynchburg/Roanoke on Friday if you like. Anybody else in the DC area, we'd love the company for the ride. There is a Crackerbarrel at exit 283 in Woodstock. We'll be there around 7:30-8:00 for breakfast and plan to roll south at 9am. PM me to exchange cell numbers.

I hearby dub Crackerbarrel the official rotary road trip breakfast spot (formally known as the Raleigh Rotary Road trip meeting spot).
Ok, I volunteer to be the switch-board/co-ordinator for the DC caravan. Anyone heading south on Friday that wants to go via US 81, please PM me with your starting point and cell phone number. I will work out the logisitics of where we will meet.
Okay since we are getting pretty close, I will be in Maryland Thur night/Fri morning, so if there are any DC people that want to meet I am up for that. I will be in southern MD and have easy access to 495 near exit 2. (Right next to the Wildrow Wilson)
Once (if anyone) get together, we would meet Foxy Roxy down at her checkpoint. Keep in mind if you want to caravan, we looking at waking up and getting on the road around 5am. If anyone is interested let me know, other wise I will look for other spots around the area.
