Deal's Gap or Bust. DC -> NC

So I booked my room at Fontana and me and a [HORROR] Evo VIII owner are going to head down that Friday (me thinks.) Anyone want to plan a caravan? I figure we will head out 66 to 81, so meeting at Tysons might not be a bad idea.

carbonRX8 01-17-2007 12:49 PM

You gotta be kidding me. NO one from the DC metro area is going to DRGG07? What, do I smell? (dont answer that.)

PhreakdOut 01-17-2007 07:48 PM

Unfortunately not in my route. I'll be on I-75 Southbound 90% of the way. (Nothing to do with your personal hygiene.)

Keep options open for hooking up when were there. I'll be in town a little early. (I hope)

carbonRX8 01-17-2007 09:49 PM

Yeah, I saw your thread and considered asking which way you were going. Interestingly, we are going to meet up with an FD owner (friend of my Evo buddy) who hails from Michigan. I dont know where in Mich but i will ask. Maybe the 7s have a caravan from around there?

I'm all for caravaning. Great Photo ops and makes the long boring drive through Ohio bearable. At least Kentucky and Tennessee have hills to make the scenery interesting.

Any info is appreciated. I'll also check the 7 forums.

Herblenny 02-02-2007 02:09 AM

There will be couple of 7 owners possibly coming from NJ.

I will start updating the 8 forum with any caravan info...
My feeling is that this years DGRR will be BIG!

I'm planning to make purchase 3-4 camera mounts for this years DGRR and make an event DVD for those to purchase.. It will be pretty cheap.

carbonRX8 02-02-2007 05:07 PM

It would be great if we could get some info on any plans on caravans. Definitely drop us a post or two.

And on the topic of DVDs, if it isn't outragously expencive, I would be interested.

Herblenny 02-02-2007 08:09 PM

I'm thinking $10 shipped for DVD's.

Herblenny 02-28-2007 09:01 AM

carbon,

in about a month, I'll be concentrating about caravans.. I'll relay any thread pertaining to caravan back to rx8 forum..

As of now, there are couple of people from NJ might be coming to this event.. weather pending..

I am in Richmond, I am meeting up with another 8 from Lynchburg on the way down. If you interested we can try and time it to meet.

carbonRX8 03-23-2007 01:15 PM

Where abouts? I think we are going out 66 to 81. Does that work for you?

J2R 03-23-2007 04:54 PM

These are the directions may quest is giving me, it looks like I should take I-85 & I-40. However I am supposed to hook up with a lynchburg 8. So I guess I could go out of the way to meet up with you and her.

J2R 03-23-2007 10:10 PM

Just got information that another 8 in Williamsburg wants to meet up with us. It seems we have a head count on 4 so far.

carbonRX8 03-24-2007 11:40 AM

Ack. I need a map. I have no idea where those places are.

Yeah. If you are in southarn VA you should prolly take I85. That make sense; however, for us, 66 to 81 makes more sence and shaves off more than an hour. So....

For folks that want to take the 85-40 route, where and when should they meet?

For folks that want to take the 66-81-40 route we will likely first meet somewhere around my house (Wheaton/Kensington MD on Georgia just north of the beltway) then somewhere around Tysons (Very near 66), then somewhere out nearthe 66-81 junction.

We will be leaving early. 5ish.

J2R 03-27-2007 10:05 AM

We need to get these people together on this broad so we can find out where everyone is at. I am willing to travel out of the way to caravan. I am going to PM some people to this tread.

carbonRX8 04-04-2007 11:21 PM

Bump. I think we need to start feeling some love here. Two weeks to go.

Herblenny 04-05-2007 12:43 AM

J2R, you might want to check out the SE section and ride with the Raleigh, NC guys.. If I recall, it was only 2-3 hours from Richmond?

Thanks Herblenny, I will check into this more and figure out where to go. I think however FOXYROXY in leesburg is going, and then I have a guy in Williamsburg and DC going as well. So I might drive out of the way to meet them.

mrthundercleese 04-05-2007 09:41 AM

You guys should all funnel down into Raleigh and ride with us so we'll have one massive rotary caravan to the gap :D. There are groups leaving from Ral wed, thu, and fri (afaik, the biggest group is leaving on Thursday at 9am). We could meet you guys somewhere on the way. Were basically taking I85 -> I40 -> gap (in a nutshell).

FoxyRoxy 04-06-2007 05:44 AM

Hey all,

We're headed down on Friday from Leesburg. 81 straight down if anybody wants to meet up on the way. J2R, we could meet up down around Lynchburg/Roanoke on Friday if you like. Anybody else in the DC area, we'd love the company for the ride. There is a Crackerbarrel at exit 283 in Woodstock. We'll be there around 7:30-8:00 for breakfast and plan to roll south at 9am. PM me to exchange cell numbers.

J2R 04-06-2007 09:16 AM

Same here ^

FoxyRoxy 04-06-2007 09:27 AM

Ok, I volunteer to be the switch-board/co-ordinator for the DC caravan. Anyone heading south on Friday that wants to go via US 81, please PM me with your starting point and cell phone number. I will work out the logisitics of where we will meet.

Okay since we are getting pretty close, I will be in Maryland Thur night/Fri morning, so if there are any DC people that want to meet I am up for that. I will be in southern MD and have easy access to 495 near exit 2. (Right next to the Wildrow Wilson)

Once (if anyone) get together, we would meet Foxy Roxy down at her checkpoint. Keep in mind if you want to caravan, we looking at waking up and getting on the road around 5am. If anyone is interested let me know, other wise I will look for other spots around the area.
