Hi Canadians and others... I got my 2010 rx-8 R3 last month. It now has 1500km on it and I love it. I was wondering where do you guys purchase aftermarket parts in the Toronto area. I couldn't find Canadian online vendor nor local.

This car is my daily driver, and working my *** off to pay for it. I drove a 2006 Civic with mods before the 8. I did so much research on this car and I am going to drive it nice. I bought the extended warranty (comprehensive) 6yrs/160,000km, so that should keep my 8 in a good shape after a few years.

One thing I find irritating about the car is that the shifter keeps shaking at all time. Not sure if anything can be done to avoid that. My first mod was swapping some LED interior and backup lights, all white color (very nice). I am planning to buy a K&N drop in filter as my next mod. I started to run premix on the last fill up, using Shell 2T premix oil. I don't seem to be able to notice any difference at this point. I think I will get the car lowered but unsure about it. I feel like the R3 already looks good the way it is. The dark rims with my black paint. Maybe I will get it tint, but my civic had 20% tint before and I got tired of it driving at night because it was hard to see.

Anyways... time to sleep and love this car.

Welcome to the addiction.

Remember to start redlining after breaking your 8 in.

Also, just a little bed-time reading:

For mods, I'd personally prefer the FS forums due to the fact that most of the guys here are into their 8's.

Other than that, I suppose well-known shops with RX-8 parts...

Here's a short list of mods that might interest you and your 8:

AFE Short shifter: Makes the 8 really come alive when driving. Viewed by many as the best bang-for-the buck mod.

Reinforced clutch pedal: One of the fixes for Mazda's sub-par manufacturing for their OEM clutch, might save you a lot of hassle in the long run. Search this forum to see the issues with the OEM clutch

BHR ignition / aftermarket ignition harness/wire/coils: The 8's ignition system usually starts to have troubles around 50-80kkm, so instead of paying to replace the OEM junk it may be a better solution to upgrade.

Master brake cylinder brace: Another failures of Mazda, though this one is more of a performance preference. Get this if you want to improve your braking response.

SS brake lines: Improves the braking even more, a cheap upgrade later on that you can do alongside a brake job

Shifter shaking is normal. Premixing, I believe may void your warranty you paid extra for.

Congrads on the pursuance, I have an 09 R3.

Some clarifications on the mod suggestions:

1) AFE does not make a shortshifter for the Series II. I got the MazdaSpeed urethane shift **** which reduces the height of the shifter and has a much nicer feel. I had an 05 before with the shortshifer and don't miss it that much.
2) Stainless steel brakelines are a waste of time unless you are a hardcore track addict.
3) I suggest you leave it stock in terms of performance mods unless are going to track it as the car drive pretty well on the street.

Cosmetic mods are obviously up to you but I think the car looks pretty good as is.

Enjoy your new ride.

your shifter shakes because the rx8 is a RWD car, and the shifter is directly connected to your transmission. You can't "fix" this, its natural.. Plus you should be driving with 2 hands on the wheel anyway ;P

Welcome!
