I hate mondays and I have to post, Discovery filiming in Scarboro Mazda
It was a call out of the blue, Al was caught totally off guard. Centennial College asked us if we could do some hands on training with 2 students that were headed to a national technical competition.

Scarboro Mazda has a long relationship with some of the professors at the college and when they found out the car to used for this competition was a 2009 Mazda 6 they called Scarboro right away. Discovery Channel decided to cover these students from the start to the end of the competition and a day was set. Al spent better part of the week ordering staff to clean up the place and wax the cars, etc. Somehow, Mazda Canada got hold of the news and want to send representative on that day too. That basically kicked the whole dealershop to hyper drive. We better be prepared...
After frantic work and sweat, we were ready. The morning started with a feel good picture of Al and the service manager posting in front of the Rx-7 race cars.
The college folks arrived early in the morning, and they were amazed that these race cars have no pistons yet kills V8 on the back straight on Mosport.
Shortly after noon, the Discovery Channel finally started rolling in, with amazing equipment ...like the $100,000 dollars camera, the lights they bring in, and how to compose a screen to capture audiences with "vectoring".
As the cameramen started setting up the set, Al started to show the students around the shop.
Apparently one of the kids is a racing fan , and wants to build a car to compete against the RX7.
The students were to "work" on a Mazda6, and there challenege was to find out what the "problems" are. These will be one of the typical challenges they face in the competition.
The discovery channel guys started filming, with the students trying to fix the car under supervision by Paul, our expert master mazda technician...
While Al was just having fun chatting with the Centennial Coleege professors and discussing the upcoming event.
As we wrapped up, the students got a final shot being interviewed by Discovery Channel. We wish them best of luck in the competition in New York. Go for Canada!
It was a busy yet wonderful Saturday at the dealership. Thanks for reading.

P.S:
Last but not the least, I even got time to put summer tires on my car after they left!
