View Full Version : Any 8's in Madsion, WI or surrounding Area
devildog1679 09-27-2006, 11:35 PM I just moved to Madison, WI last month from NYC. I my 8 back in Feb. of 2006. Titanium gray 6 speed. I'm also new to the rx-8 club family. Since I'm close to Chicago I will definitely try to make it to some meets. My car is all stock, I finally convinced my wife to set up separate savings accounts that way she can't B*%$H about me spending money on upgrades. Before my 8 I drove a 1994 Camaro Z28. My Z had more kick but my 8 is much more fun to drive. Just want to know if their are any 8's in the area. I havn't seen any yet?

devildog1679 09-28-2006, 12:57 PM I guess 8's are a rare thing in WI. I got more looks here than I did in NYC.

Its the guy from NY, I may be coming in this week to get some break pads, I may be going up to road america on the 14th to take the car around the track a bit. You thinking of going? There are a few people going up there so I may check it out.

Yep. Already on the list. I met redshedevil at MRR in August. Hope to make some of the Chicagoland events soon. It would be great if we could get more interaction between the rxclubofwi and the Chicagoland club. We're so close and both seem to have great opporunities for drives, race events, etc.....

Don't know about cool, but the '8 brings out the latent car enthusiast that maybe we thought had died a few years ago. I haven't been so obsessed with a car in over 25 years. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it sure has been fun for the last 18 months!!! :ylsuper:  :ylsuper:  :ylsuper:

BlueRenesis82 11-02-2006, 07:38 PM when you painted your calipers did you take them off the car?
glassetcher 11-02-2006, 08:07 PM No. Did it without removing. See this thread,

I see you have a 71 mustang. My dream care is a 69 Camaro SS. When I sold my 94 Camaro I was torm between a restored 69 SS or the 8. My wife convinced me that the 8 was the smarter choice long term. One day I'll have it.
BlueRenesis82 11-02-2006, 11:19 PM you can always get one of those new 1st gen camaro kit cars.
devildog1679 11-02-2006, 11:29 PM Help me talk Erin into it, maybe for X-mass or not :nono:

True, I think the two car payments are more than enough for now :Eyecrazy:

Yeah, I bought it new in '71. So, she has been my baby for a long time. Obviously, a totally different beast from the RX-8. Heavy American muscle with that deep throaty rumble. Unfortunately, she has been rather neglected since I got the '8. But here's a pic from a local car show this summer.

Welcome
Nice to meet you, not sure if your interested but I'm heading to Chicago for a meet on Saturday.
oi812 11-15-2006, 08:01 AM The Chicago meet sounds like fun on Saturday, and I'm pretty much right on your way there. Unfortunately my warden (otherwise known as my wife) has other plans for me. It sounds like the weather isn't going to be great either. Maybe next time.

That's why i'm bringing my wife. Check the chicagorotary.com website for meets. If she changes her mind let me know.
RedSheDevil 11-15-2006, 10:34 PM Hey all! I heard my name being thrown around and thought I would pop in. If you are interested in joining our local site (www.chicagorotary.com) please do! It's free and all for us midwesterners to talk local nonsense (and maybe some good intelligent stuff too once in a while).
All you have to do is sign up, get the confirmation email (so we know you are not a spammer or bot), and you should be good to go. From the confirmation to being able to post, there may be a little bit of a delay, as Railgun (the MAN) has to assign you the proper category for posting (us rotorheads get all the privileges!!).
If you have any problems after following those steps, let me know. If you'd like to be included on our email list, let me know. I send out meet reminders and add you to the EVOLV-Chicago group.
Our meet schedule is always posted in the first post of this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=69062)
thatisall. back to your regularly scheduled programming :D:
