I never got any recall letter , so Friday when i had my oil changed at the dealership i scheduled a recall for this past Monday. Had my wife drop off the 8 at 7am , by 12 noon the car was finished. I have a late model 05 RX-8 M/T.
Well my wife calls me up and says the car seems a bit peppier, i was like ok... maybe its all in her head.I asked what was on the description sheet, she said, they inspected the emissions, bakes, battery, starter, and the recall procedure, which all passed. She said no flash was mentioned on the sheet.(could have been included in the recall procedure)
So i told her i will drive it when i get home from work. Never got around to driving my 8 till the next day , which was yesterday. But on my way to work yesterday, i notice during idle on a cold start, the idel was ruff, like 500-650 ruff. Nornally its running 750-800 range. No biggy i figured its just cold....so after driving it and the 8 warmed up to its normal operating temp, every light i came to the idlel dipped down into the 550-600 range, almost seem like it wanted to cut off. So i just kept my foot on the gas lightley.
Now i get on it on the on ramp, and i notice my 8 starts pulling earlier than it does , for my 8 its around the high 4k -5k mark. Now it started pulling early around the early 4k mark and my midrange seems to have and i stress a "slightly" better pull to redline.-So don't go freaking out on me, its a slight improvement , not a night and day diffrence people....... :mdrmed:
But the major diffrence i noticed was that under WOT and up shifting into the next gear, before the Recall , i would take it to 8500-redline then shift, then get a 1-2 second lag then my 8 would start to pull. I always called this rotor lag.....
Now after the recall under WOT and upshifting , i have no more rotor lag, i shift and the 8 keeps its momentum.
So the recall seem to fix and improve 2 issues but caused me to have a new one...Today the idle improved to 650, a little better , but still ruff. I am assuming maybe the computer is trying to relearn itself again. If the idle doesn't get better by friday i will have them adjust it.
I am happy that i didn't have to have my rotary replaced with a remanufactured one, that would of sucked!
