Personally, I'd rather pick up a GT (gotta have the V8) and slap on this bodykit + FRPP (Ford Racing parts) suspension kit... and more power mods later. :evil_laug
SayNoToPistons 09-03-2006, 12:43 PM The guy doesnt match the car and the grill is fugly... other than that, its sex.
Straight8 09-03-2006, 12:44 PM 350+ horses from the V6. Nice. Would love to have all those ponies under my hood.
Moostafa29 09-03-2006, 02:08 PM Its a good option for someone that has the V6, and later wants to upgrade the power, but I would have to just get the V8 in the first place also.
DreRX8 09-03-2006, 02:13 PM I think that the one advantage of the CS6 *should* be the weight savings. I suppose it should handle better due to the lower weight. Beyond that it probably sounds like ass...the Nissan VQ is the only V6 I can really say that I like the sound of when modified or exhausted. Those Ford and GM V6s sound horrible with exhaust systems on them.
lesper4 09-03-2006, 02:20 PM nice but it deffinitly needs that rear lip kit
Japan8 09-03-2006, 02:29 PM rear lip kit? Do you mean this? http://www.steeda.com/products/3d_carbon_gt500_spoiler.php
NgoRX8 09-03-2006, 02:42 PM well, looks nice though.
zoom44 09-03-2006, 04:39 PM The guy doesnt match the car and the grill is fugly... other than that, its sex.
you know his name is on the car right?
mysql101 09-03-2006, 04:42 PM rofl.
I was tempted to say that this was actual marketing photos - their target consumers are senior citizens.
dillsrotary 09-03-2006, 04:48 PM that is a really good lookin car, deleted the side shelby strip with the cobra and its perfect.
ddoroslovac 09-03-2006, 06:20 PM What will be the MSRP for this car?
BlueSky 09-03-2006, 07:22 PM So secretarys get a faster mustang....
nzarnow 09-03-2006, 07:32 PM What a joke.
Moostafa29 09-03-2006, 07:53 PM What will be the MSRP for this car?
Hopefully no more than $27k.
BlueEyes 09-03-2006, 07:53 PM you know his name is on the car right?
I thought he was getting at the fact that a carrol shelby and v6 just don't go together.
Clavius 09-03-2006, 08:03 PM A shame Ford wouldnt let him touch the V8's... :(
But I guess business is business, that and be strange to have two Shelby Mustang's that are V8's out on the market. I'd get the car then debadge the Shebly logo's and switch the kit back to stock and go total sleeper.
I gotta find out where he lives then wire up his room to sublimaly get the idea in his head "look into rotaries..... Shelby Rx-8.... cheap price's...".
Japan8 09-03-2006, 11:48 PM ^ Uh... a little behind aren't we. There are 3 Shelby Mustangs with the V8 out there...
SVT Shelby Cobra GT500
Shelby GT-H
Shelby GT
As far as cost... I have no idea what a "pre-built" one would cost, but the package can be purchased for $15,000. After that you just need a MT V6 Mustang. http://www.hillbankmotorsports.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=20&products_id=100001&osCsid=a875399256de8da7503e0ccb77ae6d9f

Ya... its a shame he didn't JUST make a shelby gt500 mustang... oh wait :Freak_ani
And that senior citizen shit is a little harsh.. carrol shelby has to be the coolest mutherfucker out there.. he's done a LOT for the automotive industry... shelby cobra.. all the stangs... had a huge hand in the ford gt40 eating ferrari at le mans (was a big deal back in the day) and now hes back in business. BTW he still drives like an angry teenager, pretty fun shit to watch.

I dunno, Porsche and BMW has some nice sounding 6s too :D:
shahram72 09-04-2006, 10:43 AM These modded mustangs are really a joke. I almost s*** myself when I saw the price of one of those Saleen mustangs at the dealer. Only an idiot would pay $50K for a MUSTANG!. It's still a MUSTANG! Solid rear axle? What a joke. Now don't get me wrong, I like the Mustang, but at it's regular price point. Hmmm, used porsche or Saleen? Well, my brain is defective, so I want the Mustang!
murix 09-05-2006, 11:21 PM Funny. Ford is doing quite well with that joke of a solid rear axle.

The GT500 would have been a much cooler car with the 5.0l they are using in the FR500C. Shame they simply did not make a street version of it. 3800lbs for a mustang? Wow. Crazy.
murix 09-05-2006, 11:25 PM As for the Shelby V-6 Supercharged. The difference is in the curb weight and better weight distribution. ~3300lbs vs ~3500lbs. I wouuld stick with just the engine and suspension upgrades and forgo all the useless glitz.
Would be a fun change anyway.
dillsrotary 09-05-2006, 11:35 PM didn't shelby have a hand in the first model viper?
swoope 09-05-2006, 11:45 PM i looks good except for the boss shellby strips.... bad charger flashback...

I understand the reasoning for it... it's valid. I'd do that if I autocrossed. But I don't... so I wouldn't. Part of the charm of getting a Mustang is the V8.
You should lose some weight anyway with the hood change as it's FRP. The hood pins and vent should prove to be nice at speed... the GT500 had issues with pressure building up under the hood, thus the hood vents. Outside of the hood, front bumper and grill... there only other changes are stripes. Wheels... those are nice, but pricey... I'd look for other options first... and the stock 17's and 18's have to go... just look too damn small on the car.
The V8 does have one other advantage... greater capability for more power. Yeah... Shelby is getting like 350hp from it with the s/c (not twin-screw... eww!), but you can easily get 400hp from a stock 3v 4.6 V8 with the Saleen S/C, or 475hp from Kenne Bell. Plus there's whipple and Ford Racing is supposedly going to release a Whipple S/C too.
I agree about the GT500. Too heavy. Almost everyone in the Mustang community wants the 5.0 Cammer engine in a production car, but a crate motor is $15,000. I don't think Ford will be able to bring that out at a reasonable price. But... like Saleen did for another special car... why not bore-up the 3v 4.6 engine to 5.0L(according to the Mustang forums it's better on the 4.6 motor than stroker)? Add a s/c to that and Ford should have been able to hit the same horsepower mark with room to spare and certainly saved a lot of weight. Another option that I mentioned to bascho before was changing the 5.4L truck block to aluminum... this way the costs could be amortized across the big selling trucks and keep costs (and weight) down for the GT500. Oh well...
swoope 09-06-2006, 01:01 AM you should have seen the dyno i saw with a 06 with a procharger on it... that was in for some ecu mods.
it was silly and still running rich when i left..
beers
Japan8 09-06-2006, 01:05 AM My bad... miss read that at first... silly like exceeding 400hp and still running rich silly. Yeah, I can imagine. This motor seems to love power... it's only limitation is the botton end (pistons, rods and crank). The 3v heads are reported to have great flow... better than the old 4v heads on the NA Cobras.

Dang straight. I meet him a couple years ago at Lagua Seca aka Mazda Race Way, very cool indeed. This is coming from a import guy :ylsuper: .

Better yet, develop a next-gen pushrod motor to compete with the LS# and hemis. That way, you don't have to resort to a supercharger and a complicated design to make decent numbers. And since you're not blowing money on a shitload of extra moving parts, you can actually afford to build the thing out of aluminum as God intended.
Japan8 09-11-2006, 01:59 AM Truthfully I complete agree, but the mucky mucks at Ford have the OHC MOD engines so far up their ass that they can't see the benefits to investing the money on a next gen pushrod motor.
OTOH... less displacement with FI is still less displacement... which SHOULD BE better gas mileage... important these days. 6.0L vs S/C 4.6L... And enough ricers on here already complain about the live axel (even though the racing results speak for themselves)... imagine what they'd say if it was still a pushrod motor!
Granted I'd love to have a 6.0L Ford V8 in the Mustang...
