RX-Nut 08-27-2003, 05:16 PM Only Gyro so far?
You know who I want to hear from and find out his take on all this..... 3Rotor.. the first guy to take delivery in the US.. :)
It's wednesday and I don't have my letter yet. I'm leaving for a week so I hope it comes while i'm gone.
mikeb 08-27-2003, 05:45 PM no letter yet
Squidward 08-27-2003, 05:52 PM no letter yet either.. I did get a call from my sales person telling me he said he had a meeting with some mazda people and was told I would be getting free service and some money..
very basic statements. I didn't go much into details, but I didn't bother to ask, I said I already new about it, and that was that..
r0tor 08-27-2003, 06:00 PM no letter either ... until the I can however deam that mine will offer a fix option when it arrives :o
ELX13 08-27-2003, 06:14 PM rx-nut asks: Who here HAS received their letter?
and he get's 4 replies from people saying they haven't.
just a little pet peeve of mine.
like when someone (ie. me) asks if anyone has any gum, or knows what time it is, etc. etc. and everybody says, "I don't."
;)
jerzeydevil 08-27-2003, 06:36 PM Mine came in Monday and was sent out Tuesday......keeping it of course.
Speed Racer 08-27-2003, 09:55 PM I received my letter on Tuesday.
Jump120MPH 08-27-2003, 10:10 PM Nope nothing yet.
antman_x 08-28-2003, 01:38 AM I think to respond no letter is legit. Looks like no one in CA got their letters. I didn't get mine either.
jerzeydevil 08-28-2003, 07:25 AM FWIW...the letters were coming from PA...I live in NJ so that might explain why I got mine already...I saw one other received from NH...
rowentx 08-28-2003, 10:23 AM Nothing here in Texas yet. Hopefully something today.
jtimbck2 08-28-2003, 01:41 PM Got mine today (Thursday) in Virginia.
zackcat 08-28-2003, 02:13 PM No letter yet (CA).... probably will come tomorrow just in time for labor day weekend! ;)
rotary_it_up 08-28-2003, 02:28 PM Received mine on Monday 8/25.
Planning on keeping the car , but I'm going to wait until closer to the deadline in case any new info pops up.
skuzbucket 08-28-2003, 02:29 PM Got it the day after I took delivery - no worries though - free stuff is kool - I just love the car no matter what :)
TomsterRX8 08-28-2003, 02:46 PM Nothing here in Texas but I called and found out that Mazda had my address from 10 years ago when I owned the RX7. Likely that it was mailed to this long-distant address.

Good advice. With all of the information posted here over the last 30 days regarding issues/concerns, etc. it is sage advice to wait until about September 25th and then <I>bring</I> the letter to the dealer.
Don't get me wrong! I am not implying that there is any reason for concern about the RX8 (the BIGGEST problem I have read about on this forum seemingly solved itself!!), but it is simply prudent to wait and see how well the first TWO months of the introduction go!
rx8racer 08-28-2003, 04:04 PM Just got home to find the letter.

RX-Nut 08-28-2003, 04:40 PM For those that have received letters, what are your purchase dates?
Eh, something to do while we all wait for BOOSTD7's report or Oct.1, whichever comes first... hahahahah
I didn't get my letter BUT I called the 1800 # and added myself to the list. I may have to sell the car back only because my company (yet another dot bomb) is giving us our 1 month notice. I wish I knew this way before hand but things are the way they are.
I love the RX8, just wish people woudl stop complaining about those silly, superificial things like empirical #'s and such. I would keep the 8 only because it made me feel good and its fun to drive. Even if the car had 100HP, its still got the "stares" on the road, which to me, counts the most.
alex
bummer alex :( Sorry to hear that.
I'll be keep my letter till late september for that VERY reason, you never know these days, I hear layoffs are coming sept 18th. If i make it i keep the car, otherwise I'm a lucky guy to get this OUT.
RX8-TX 08-28-2003, 07:42 PM Got it today (8/28/03)
Napboy 08-28-2003, 07:49 PM me too... purchased 7/25. located in So. Cal.
khoney 08-28-2003, 07:59 PM Got mine today. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the 8, but I will hold onto the letter until the last minute anyway. I may make changes to it that are initialed, then copy it and send it in. I don't care for the ambiguity in the letter, because it indicates to me that the HP number could be dropped again and we would have no recourse.
myrx8 08-28-2003, 08:28 PM I couldn't wait for my letter so I called Mazda, and had the customer service rep fax me the letter along with the page which shows what you need to send to their legal department. The guy said the whole process will take about three or four weeks ater they receive your infomation. He also said I could turn my car in and purchase another one the same day.
:D
Aratinga 08-28-2003, 08:46 PM Got mine today, August 28th (Los Angeles County, CA) via First Class mail. Although the return address on the outer envelope is MNAO in Irvine, CA, it was postal meter stamped "LANSDALE PA, Aug 25 '03."
Interestingly, it included no return envelope in which to send back the form if I want to opt for the $500/free maintenance. It was obviously cobbled together in something of a hurry.
edit: Purchased 7/17/03.
QuantumTheory08 08-28-2003, 09:27 PM Nope. :(
Nothing received in Central Coast region of California.
Purchased 7/17
Genom 08-28-2003, 09:30 PM Got mine today as well. Miami, FL.
JJFlash 08-28-2003, 09:31 PM Got mine today...along with an oil light at only 1700 miles. Goodbye to my 8, low HP, 15 MPG, I'm done.
Zoom49 08-28-2003, 09:59 PM Got mine today in LA, purchase 7/14 Addressed to me as Miss

Got my letter on Wednesday. So they are saying you can return your RX8 and buy another RX8 the same day? If this is true everyone should return it that has over 1k miles. :D
rowentx 08-29-2003, 09:01 AM Received mine Thursday, 8/27. I wish the decision were easy now, but it's not. :(
JohnK29 08-29-2003, 10:10 AM Got my letter yesterday 8-28, Ohio, still haven't decided yet. This is a tuff decision to make with very limited information. I like the car and would hope Mazda will have a fix.
Black Touring package
donald121 08-29-2003, 10:46 AM I received my letter yesterday 8/28. I think I have made up my mind. I will keep my car. Don't ask me why. I just love the car. I think it worths the money.

While I dont think everyone who has over 1K miles should sell back, I think markup payers may want to consider it. And of course if you are simply not happy with the vehicle, then here's your chance to relinquish. I for one am still undecided..
I haven't received my letter but called anyhow.. Asked them to fax mine in. They will fax me the letter and buyback forms. I just wanted to see what the buyback forms entailed and maybe it explained the process.
However, from what I learned from the very pleasant phone rep, they will pay you the exact price you paid for the vehicle. Thats tax, tag any markup, etc. I repeat, exact price you paid. Barring any damages or irregular wear and tear. Whatever that would be. They will not pay any interest accrued on financing, etc, or for any aftermarket installed items.
If you decide to sell back, there will be some forms you need to fill and arrange where to bring in your car. They will need a copy of your sales contract, etc. Apparently, the drop off doesnt need to be the same dealer. At that point, your car will be inspected and a check will be cut.
There are no stipulations as to buying another one. You can take your money and buy another one that very day if you so desire.
antman_x 08-29-2003, 01:56 PM Thanks for the info Nut. I have yet to recieve my letter. San Francisco, Ca.
For those like me who paid a mark-up, we need to go back and calculate is a buy back and repurchase worth it vs $500 debit card and 4 yrs service. This is very interesting because I'm going to have an RX8 either way. Just which is best financialy plus factor in the time spent breaking her in and time spent at the dealership etc...
Anybody know if you can have mazda buyback your car then repurchase the same car at used prices? Is it true they're going to sell the buybacks to employees?
RX-Nut 08-29-2003, 02:10 PM That's a good question ask.. I think however, once the car is bought back, it is bought by Mazda USA (MNAO). Therefore the dealer can't resell it, because it's not theirs.
Which also probably means that all the bought-back cars will go back to MNAO unless MNAO works a way to sell them back to the dealers..
IMO, the dealers shouldnt really care, they've already been paid for the car and probably would be just mediators in the whole mess. It's MNAO that's buying the cars not the dealers. I might be wrong..
Steve T 08-29-2003, 03:40 PM Letter in the mail today (8/29). Been on hold for 24 minutes at this point, they must know I am going to have them buy it back:D
RX-Nut 08-29-2003, 03:45 PM Aahhh.. please share your buyback experience.. I'm sure we all look forward as to how it went or is going.... :)
Got the letter today in North TX. I'll keep the car
Steve T 08-29-2003, 03:54 PM Update...34 minutes and "Mike" says he will be faxing me my re-purchase form to me in a few minutes, says it contains the "fine print".
Wolfer 08-29-2003, 03:59 PM Can't wait to see the fine print.
Doug DeBug 08-29-2003, 03:59 PM In my mailbox yesterday. Still have not decided what to do....

Yes, I think the difficulty is with anyone who paid above MSRP. The $500 and Service is hard to pass up if you bought at or below MSRP. For many it's probably not worth the hassle to loss the use of the vehicle, in hopes a getting another 8 "down the road". Curious as to what the fine-print has to say about how long one must wait before they can turn around and buy the 8 again.
RX-Nut 08-29-2003, 04:18 PM well here's what the buy back form is.. I hope it's not a violation to post this.. If it is, please tell me so I can delete it.
antman_x 08-29-2003, 05:57 PM thx for posting that Nut.
And Brudahvoodoo. Aren't you suppose to be working? J/K
My whole floor is empty and I'm out of here too. Enjoy the 3 days off!
myrx8 08-29-2003, 07:17 PM I got my letter today - already had one faxed to me. I found out if you call once they open up - you can usually get someone real quick.
eccles 08-29-2003, 07:19 PM Mine arrived today, too. I'm gonna sit on it for a month and see what develops. If I do return the car, it will be to get another one.
RodsterinFL 08-29-2003, 07:34 PM I came home tonight and the letter was in the box.
foodiedave 08-29-2003, 08:42 PM Got mine today (Fri.), in Santa Clara, CA. Wheeee...
I'm gonna take the $500 & service, and keep that sweet 8! :D
Letter arrived 8/29, San Diego, CA.
Arrived at dealer/purchased 8/12.
Unless something big develops, it's a keeper :)
8_wannabe 08-29-2003, 11:13 PM Note the letter says they have to RECEIVE your response by 1 Oct. That doesn't mean we have till 1 Oct to reply, as has been commonly stated before. Plan ahead!
Oh, and got my letter today (8/29) in San Diego. Haven't decided what I'm going to do; waiting to see if the mileage is going to improve. I'm at 2300 miles now, and getting 17.5 mpg (up from low 15's earlier.)
mikeb 08-30-2003, 03:06 AM I'm in cali and I recieved my letter today 8-29-03. I'm keeping it--not ever a question.
compaddict 08-30-2003, 08:30 AM Got mine in Northern California and started my order for my new RX-8 on the same day.
Vince
RX-7 2 RX-8 08-30-2003, 10:46 AM I got my letter yesterday, 8-29. No question in my mind. It's a bonus on a car that I love.:)
r0tor 08-30-2003, 01:41 PM got my letter in the mail like 10 min ago... gonna hold onto it for a little
DoobyWho 08-30-2003, 03:26 PM Im really pissed. Im getting 10-12mpg and so i want to do the buyback but i'll get screwed over if i do. For one, there was a payoff of about $2,300 from my trade in, so i'll have that to deal with. Second, I got gap insurance which I'll still have to pay for, third, the interest i'll be stuck with.
meladdin 08-30-2003, 06:26 PM 1st time poster, short-time lurker here. I'm not to keen on all the finanials of the buy-back. I have negative equity from the leased Jeep Cherokee i traded in. If i take the buy back deal, what happens to that negative equity and my Jeep? Am i stuck making payments on the negative equity with no car to show for it?? Any help would be apreciated.
myrx8 08-30-2003, 08:36 PM I got my official letter today. My salesperson even called me and said they would give a good deal on another RX8 if I buy from them.
I guess that means the saleperson gets to keep their original commission.

sure are.. i have the same problem.
B-Nez 08-31-2003, 12:35 AM My letter arrived on Friday, and my reply went out on Saturday. What I want to know is - who here HAS received their debit card? I hope the expiration is a long way off, as I just promised my wife I'd hold off until after the holidays before charging it out on car parts.
racerx7 08-31-2003, 12:41 AM I bought mine around 8/1 from
Menlo Mazda. Not letter here.
Has anybody sold theirs back to Mazda?
How does it work? I paid MSRP. I traded
in paid off WRX.
If they still had my old car (wrx), do they give it back plus the money I paid? Or do they just pay $34k
ish?my sales contract (http://www.racerx7.net/sale_contract.jpg)
I would rather keep the car and have mazda fix it (more hp). I don't want free service. I want I what I paid for. (247 hp).

I would think so.. the buy backs shouldnt affect the dealers at all. It's MNAO that's buying them back, not the dealers. As far as the dealers are concerned, they've already gotten paid for the car and it's a done deal.. Maybe except for the fact that they will probably need to help process the buybacks for MNAO..
I for one would be sort of ashamed to return the car at dealership you bought it from and turn around and buy another one on the same lot. It's just me.. feels strange. But I'm sure the dealer wouldnt care, to them, it's another 8 sold. And this time, it CANT be returned OR maintained for free.... heheh
Racer X-8 09-02-2003, 05:18 PM I finally got my letter today. The letter inside was dated 8/29.
RX-8 2004 09-02-2003, 06:30 PM Got my letter too today 09-02-2003!! Maryland
Keeping My TOY for Sure!! I like the Free Maint. and 500 bucks!! Oh Yeah...Zoooooom Zoooooom
jdaled 09-02-2003, 06:55 PM Got my letter today, in IN.
I'm planning to keep it. I AM wondering, though, what happens if you don't take either of the offers... I suppose somebody would have to sue Mazda in a class-action kinda thing. Personally, I drove the car before I bought it, and I liked it then, and I've liked it more and more the longer I've had it (3 weeks). So, no chance I'm sending it back.
fwiw.
rx8daniel 09-02-2003, 07:26 PM In Southern PA, received letter.
carnut 09-02-2003, 08:34 PM Got my letter today (9/2) in Des Moines -- postmarked 8/25/03.
myrx8 09-02-2003, 08:40 PM it will be strange returning the car and getting a new one, but the saleperson is talking about a great deal. I told him I would need to get at least $2,500 off sticker because that was the value of the service and debit card based what people were saying. He agreed and then his sales manager said since we have already made money on the first car that they can deal alot more on the second. Also, because I will be paying cash for the car - so financing to deal with.
TJRX8 09-02-2003, 08:41 PM Today 9/2, postmarked 8/29.
RX-8 Zoomster 09-02-2003, 09:40 PM Received today 9/2, with postmark of 8/29.
o_town_racer 09-02-2003, 09:46 PM I haven't received my letter yet. I'm currently out of town (can't drive my 8...boo hoo...stuck with a Pontiac GP rental). If there's no letter when I get back to town on Friday I'm giving my dealer a call.
ViviMiamiRX8luv 09-02-2003, 09:56 PM Also received mine today - Sept 2. Purchased 8/16...letter postmarked 8/29.

wizardrummer 09-03-2003, 04:51 AM Got mine on Tuesday 9/2.......like many others, I'm going to hold off until closer to the 10/1 date to return.
BTW-I'm DEFINITELY keeping the car.

Chrisbert 09-03-2003, 01:33 PM Bought mine on 8/23. No letter yet. Wonder how long it will take. I'll most likely keep it, but I'll wait until closer to the deadline to decide.

jchavezona 09-04-2003, 12:16 AM Bought my RX-8 on 8/23 and received my letter on 09/02. I am opting for the scheduled maintenance and $500 debit card..

autoxr 09-04-2003, 01:07 PM Purchased 7-23, received letter 9-2.
QuantumTheory08 09-04-2003, 02:27 PM ...got the letter 9/2 then, interestingly enough, the dealer calls minutes later to ask who I like my car!
....I do like my car - and - I'm holding my letter.

OmegaBob 09-05-2003, 11:10 PM Received my letter today, Friday 9/5. Postmarked 9/4 from Lansdale, PA.
Now, all I need is my car (and mug set).
edit: I just read through the letter and my two options are to take the $500 + free maintenence or to get my deposit back. No offer of a buyback.
allstate 09-07-2003, 06:46 PM Purchased on 8/2, still no letter, and getting more impatient everyday. Before anyone says it, I know I can call the 1-800# to expedite the letter, but why can't Mazda just get the letter to me without me calling! People who purchased later than me already have received the letter. That absolutely makes NO sense.
zoom44 09-08-2003, 12:04 PM letter was waiting when i got back from my vacation. no brainer after the 1,968.3 miles of curvy california/oregon coast roads. no way in hell anyone is getting my car. checked the line for the maintenance etc. and put it back in the mail this morning. :)
graphicguy 09-08-2003, 03:07 PM Talked to my dealer today to tell him I was keeping my RX8 (he said he wanted to know). I told him I'd sell mine back to Mazda if he could give me $2,000 off a new one to cover the $500 Mastercard and the free maintenance. He started laughing and said he's selling everyone he can get his hands on for MSRP.
Anyway, he said that the regional Mazda rep mentioned that those that keep their cars may get "something special" from Mazda in addition to the money/maintenance. I asked him what that "something special" was, but he said it would be worth it to keep the car, but wouldn't tell me what it was. He said Mazda wanted to reward those who were loyal.
Of course, he said we woudln't hear anything until after the Oct 1 deadline.
Hmmmmmmm??????
RX-Nut 09-08-2003, 04:19 PM Something special eh.. the only special thing I would consider worth something would be the missing ponies.
If it's some crappy little trinket, like a thermos, a die cast car, or some other doohickey, why insult us?

RX-Nut 09-08-2003, 04:29 PM Ya, only if it's not 1:10 scale on paper.. then showed up at your door at 1:18 scale hahahaha..
allstate 09-08-2003, 07:02 PM Just got home from work. Monday mail has now come and gone with no sign of any letter. I will call my dealership tomorrow and let them handle it *Sigh*. Is anyone else still waiting for a letter or am I the only one?
red_rx8_red_int 09-08-2003, 08:45 PM I'm still waiting for my letter. Purchased (took delivery) on 8/25.
I've been doing major house cleanup for the past week or so, and I seem to be missing my form to send into Mazda for my free service and money :(... Can someone please scan the form and put it up here (or PM me), or if this has already been done, please give me the link. I'm looking for the form, not the letter, which I have just fine (I cleverly kept the form somewhere safe while I carried the letter to show to all my friends...)
graphicguy 09-10-2003, 07:59 AM The folks at the 800 # have been real helpful to me. Just give them a jingle. They'll send out a whole new package to you. Just give them your VIN# to so they make sure you qualify. You'll get the papers about a week later.
lilhondi 09-10-2003, 09:41 AM VERY CONCERNED:
Sept. 10th, and still no letter has arrived. I spoke to Clarita at Mazda and she assured me it was coming. I am afraid ithat the time line in the letter won't allow all of us to meet the dead line. Are we being ripped off??? Yes, I agree with a previous poster, it might be time to involve the news media or even a lawyer.
silver RX-8, 6 speed, touring PKG
RX8Lover 09-10-2003, 10:12 AM Cool your jets, dude!
They have your VIN number that shows you received the car before the cutoff date to qualify for the deal (if that was the case for you). When I took delivery on August 26th, they already had a letter that asked if I wanted the free service and $500 debit card, and I checked the box that said YES.
I think that you expecting to get your letter a week or two after the announcement is a little extreme. As long as you placed your order/took delivery of the car on or before August 26th, you're fine.
PATIENCE!

Are we being ripped off??? Yes, I agree with a previous poster, it might be time to involve the news media or even a lawyer.

How did you get a hold of her? Was it just dumb luck?
I have called at least 5 times and left two seperate messages
on different days. She has not called me back yet.
As far as the letters, I will scan all of mine in for you. I think you need to call and have your vin # on record for the buy back. At least that is how I understand the letter.

racerx7 09-10-2003, 01:14 PM These are all the letters I have received from Mazda.
letters from mazda (http://www.laserpoint.net/rx8/)
The first two should have gone to everybody. The third is because
I called the 800 number requesting to do the buy back program.
TybeeRX-8 09-10-2003, 02:53 PM Car was built on 6/27, delivered to me on 8/27, and I received the offer letter today. I had asked my salesperson about the letter yesterday and she said she remembers the sales manager calling in the VIN numbers of cars ordered/sold before 8/26, but couldn't remember the exact date. For those who may not have gotten the letter, the problem nay lie with you dealer???
BTW, I'm keeping mine!:)

Racer: thanks for posting the return letter. I haven't decided what to do, but was wondering what they sent if I called the 800# about the return.
Oh, BTW, I did get the letter. Purchased 7/27, letter post-marked 8/25.

After I played on the phone for several days
( 150 minutes never got through, several other
times gave up after 10 minutes). When I got
through and spoke to somebody they took
my vin # and then sent the third letter.
third letter - click here (http://www.laserpoint.net/rx8/MED/buyback_rx8.jpg)
I am screwed though. We paid with cash. I am waiting for dmv to send me the title. There is
a good chance that I will not get the title until
after Oct 1. Mazda has not return my calls.
mikeb 09-10-2003, 05:13 PM allstate, did you ever get your letter
I didn't receive the letter yet and I'm going out of the country for the remaining of the month. I got really worried when I saw in the letter (someone post it in this forum) that the timeline for answering the letter is Oct-1st.
I'm travelling tomorrow, so, yesterday I got really stressed out and called the 1-800 number in the letter. After some frustrated trials (nobody answered) I left my work phone number and rested my case for the day.
This morning I received a call back from someone from Mazda - a very polite guy, btw - which asked for my vin number and said he was going to see what was going on.
So, here's the important point for you guys: to be elegible for the deal, you have to have bought the car before Aug-26th. I did buy it on Aug-7th, but the dealership didn't report that until sept-2nd!!!!!!! I don't know why they wouldn't do that in the correct time (mess up? balancing monthly sales? I don't know!), but the fact is that they didn't!!
I faxed the guy my sales papers and he was able to escalate the problem there in Mazda and, to make a long story short, I was added to the elegible list and was able to apply for the deal.
Lucky me! :)
In my case (which is slightly more special, due to the fact that I'll be out for some time), I opted right there, by the phone, but I'll still need to send the letter, when I receive it, even if after Oct-1st.
If you are lazy to read all the story above, the one thing you have to get from my experience is: if you didn't receive the letter yet and did buy your car before Oct-26th, call the Mazda number (1-800-662-6779). DON'T wait someone to pick up! Simply leave your name, phone *AND* VIN number. Ask for the status of your letter.
If they are as responsive with you as they were with me, they will get back to you pretty soon with some answers.
If you want to give it some more days just in case, it's your call. I didn't have this choice.
I hope you all get your letter (and deals) in time!!!
brothervoodoo 09-10-2003, 07:51 PM I received the letter but if you want the buyback you have to call them anyway. They should be able to fax the letter since the person I contacted just faxed me the buyback letter. Also, somebody on this board scanned all the letters. Just print his out and decide on what you want to do and turn them in. I think the only problem for people choosing the buyback is \getting the "Title" on time which some may not recieve by the cut-off date.

This is not the case as far as I'm concerned. I ordered in April and purchase the car the day it arrived at the dealer, August 27th, and I have my letter with the option to return the car. But, I'm keeping mine!!!
Bought OR ordered, I should say.

well i put $1000 down on august 7th and signed an order agreement and got a VIN but never filled out a sales contract and my dealer told me no delivery no buyback and that i can still get the $500 and free maintenace or my deposit back but i cant sell the car back to mazda since i dont own the car. i spoke to clarita and she said the same thing. either way i have no letter at all. does anybody know the official stance of mazda? budaman? anybody?
allstate 09-10-2003, 10:17 PM Well, on Tues. I called my dealer and they gave me the Mazda customer service # 1 800 222 5500 (don't think if this is the same number found in the letter). Turns out they did not have my APT NUMBER on file. Maybe this was the reason for the delay in receiving the letter. The gal I spoke with added the apt number and sent a request to resend the letter....we'll just have to wait and see. If all else fail I'll just ask them to fax it.
BTW....you will get extreme tired head from the continuous repetition of the ZOOM ZOOM song while on hold. (I held for about 15 minutes).

I think your problem is with your dealer. Call Mazda and ask them.
wildwhl 09-11-2003, 03:25 PM Today via email. I'll try to post later, however, be advised (and this is a good thing) the repurchase IS FOR THE FULL AMOUNT INCLUDING THE AMOUNT PAID OVER MSRP IN MY CASE.
Worry not, folks. If you are opting for the repurchase your needs will be taken care of in a timely manner. If concerned, just keep calling Emma at ISG (Impartial Services Group)

You've stumped me here.
They are saying you can get your $1000 back or you can buy the car with the $500 & free maint.
You want an option to accept the car in order to have Mazda buy it back.
I must be missing your motive. Why do you want to do that?

i don't want to sell it back but i just wanted to know if i qualified for that option in case i did want to sell it back due to a big difference in stated MPG and actual for example. aren't some people doing the buyback option for that very reason? at any rate i spoke with Mike at mazda today and he faxed me the form to accept the $500 and free maintenance. my car is at the port and i expect it by month end. i'm taking the money and maintenance. if i get one of the cars with the bad MPG it will be too late to do anything about it but i guess i'll take my chances.
I had an order in that was in time to get the letter. My dealer says that he turned in my address and that they even called back to verify the address to send the letter to.
Unfortunately, I still have yet to recieve the letter. I called him back and he said he doesn't know and that I might not get the letter until I take delivery of the car. I tried calling the 800 number but sat on hold for 3 hours and got a bit bored.
Does anyone know if I won't recieve the letter until shortly before I take delivery of the car? or should I have the letter in hand and need to call my dealer back? I'm just scared I will miss the oct 1 deadline everyone talks about.
thanks

Don't know for certain, but I would think you would have to be in physical possession of the car to qualify for the offer. Otherwise, if you were unhappy for any reason, you could just decline taking delivery of it and have "no deal" with the dealership you are trying to purchase it from.
RX8driver 09-17-2003, 04:55 PM It's nice to see who's received their letters or not, but how long has it been taking from the time you take possession of the car until the time the letter arrives?
graphicguy 09-18-2003, 08:55 AM Well, I got my car the first week in August. Got the letter the last week in August. Already signed and sent back. No way I'm giving this car up.
