Anyone have experience with a 60-1?
Cool, I have decided to get rid of the stock Greddy turbo. The guy that is doing my car is getting me a 60-1. I have custom made low compression rotors, ported motor, walbro fuel pump and 720cc injectors for my secondaries - Thank you Scott from Mazport, the fit right in! I'm taking my car in on Monday.

turbonetics sucks.
this is actually a semi-custom turbo. i had the shop stuff the t70 compressor into a smaller t04s housing. kinda like the 60-1 hifi's in the t04b housings.
not as efficient, but more space conservative.

I love the 60-1. It's a good turbo that is realistic for street use. BDC on the 7 forum has put down 425 rwhp with a street port at 15 psi of boost using the smaller version of that turbo the 60-1 HiFi. I don't think it's too small at all. In fact I think anything larger is a waste of time unless you have a dedicated race car but I also don't like having the powerband of a Supra. That's just me though.
Update:
I saw the car today. They were just done with the down pipe and installing the wastegate. Here are the pics. The turbo brand is Precision and the wastegate is Tial. I am looking at early next week to get it tuned.

Just for the record, how fast a turbo reaches full boost has nothing to do with whether or not it is a good turbo for the job. When I say I like the 60-1 over larger turbos such as T-66's or higher, I say that from an efficiency standpoint at a certain boost level. At 15 psi, that turbo will put out more power than a T-66 or larger turbo can on a rotary. Even the smaller 60-1 HiFi will. If you want to go up over this boost pressure up to 20 psi or more, a larger turbo is in order as they have the efficiency up there at the neccessary flow rate.
Many RX-7 people just hit the 400 rwhp mark with T66 turbos at 15 psi. Some do a little better. A 60-1HiFi (the small one) can get up to about 425 rwhp at 15 psi. That makes it a better turbo for that boost level. What it does lack is the efficiency to push it much higher and this is where the larger turbos start to gain the advantage. This is why I like it. I consider 15 psi to be my personal street limit and 400 rwhp is nothing to be ashamed of. There is no need for a larger turbo on the street.

point taken, but that example is wrong. even though a 66 doesn't really wake up until you're almost in the 20's, it'll still put out more at 12-13+ than the 60-1.

....Turbonetics T70? I was thinking about putting my turbo on the side, but seems really crammed down there....I take it, your tossing the air pump?
