While looking at my exhaust, I noticed that there is an escessive ammount of condensation happening when I run my AC. Its a steady drip off the engine. I guess we have been having a really hot summer up here in Michigan, but was wondering if anyone was experiencing this or knew if it was normal. I think I heard people complaining about them not being cold enough, but mine is ice cold.

imo what you have is normal.most a/c systems need to release the water build up in it by way of a hose comiming out the a/c unit .otherwise you would have a big puddle of water on the inside passenger side floor area.if it come's out the exhaust like you said it should this is not normal.have it checked out while the problem is happening.(the dealer)

Sorry, when I was on the ground looking at my exhaust (as per my other post) I noticed it. It is NOT coming out the exhaust.

It's like down the side of the engine or right around that area. It is water, not coolant or anything bad. Just seems like too much condensation.

A side related issue: I've been trying to run the car with the windows open on my commute because A/C really saps the engine too much, but it was too hot today, so I had the A/C on. Not only did any remaining power disappear, but it actually shuddered to a stall when rolling up to a light in neutral. I had the A/C fan on the "2" setting, and the car idle just dropped to zero and the car stalled. This can't be normal, has anyone else experienced this?

Well, mine hasn't stalled but, it has come close. Almost the same fashion as yours, mine almost cut out on me pulling into the drive way after a spirited run on the highway...my fan was also on "2". I'm at a loss...

Ironically, I'm getting some of my best mileage in the last few weeks with heavy A/C usage (~21mpg in traffic) but if its going to stall on me it's not worth it.

A/C sounds fine, in Dallas TEXAS is 107 today, wife says the A/C is doing fine .
Also rx8 is brillant Black

It made a big difference for me and was very easy to do.

I use my A/C all the time. It's so hot this summer that anytime my car is on, the A/C is on. I usually have it on "4". My car idles fine, never had a stalling problem and the A/C is nice and cold.

It appears that some rx8s are sensitive to heat. behing in Michigan, where the summers are very humid, the AC works extra hard. On top of that (even stated in the manual), when you run the AC the engine builds up more heat because it needs to work harder in conjunction with the AC. \

I believe that the bottom line is that this car has not a very robust cooling system which causes the engine to stall on ocation when too hot...... Look at what happened to many rx8's in las vegas..... I hope Mazda comes up with a fix for all this before the rotary reliability stereotype starts building up for the rx8 as well...

If you're as humid in Michigan as they were in Illinois last week then it would be common to have alot of condensation.

I've never had any compaints about the A/C in the 8. And I spend most of my time in Florida so a good A/C is a necessity.

I need some help....If anyone has had to recharge there AC themselves, let me know cause mine needs recharged and im not payin mazda to do it. I just need some direction on how to do it. The guy at the dealership said to plug the freon into the lower pipe and start the motor and the car would pull the freon in. Where is this lower pipe located?

thats not normal, Check your car. Also, flash your car to the newest one because it suppose to fix one of the A/C issue with the car as well.
