These plugs were designed for 86-95 RX7's. Unfortunately, they will not work on the RX8. I've heard that HKS is considering making a specific RX8 Super Fire Plug! :)

Someone IS using rx7 plugs, I remember RG said its ok to use 7 plugs in 8s. Actually u know what, I wonder what will happen if I put these plugs into my 8.

it wont "blow" my Renesis I think. what you guys think? should I be the "brave" dude and give it a shot ? :O

I thought there was an issue with the length of the plugs being too long for the Renesis??

Since the casting thickness for the spark plugs is the same between the Renesis and other rotaries, I don't see why there would be an issue. On RX-7's I actually remove the spacer washer from the plugs to get the plugs right up against (but not touching) the chamber!!!

The best, most reliable plugs I have found to use in rotaries, including the Renesis, is the RX-7 plugs. BUR-7EQ and BUR-9EQ. If you must have platinum, add the letter "P" to the end of that number. They are less than $2 additional per plug for platinum and the standard plug is only a few bucks itself. Don't waste your time with the HKS, Greddy, etc plugs. Only buy the NGK plugs. You can get them at O'Reilly. Don't even use the Nippondenso plugs that Autozone sells. They don't last as long.

I want to try some HKS plugs, I dont think they made those plugs probably just a re-brand. but I still wanna try some first.

So RG, are you saying the BUR-7EQ and 9EQ are better than the RE7CL and 8BT?

Or are they preaty much the same?

As it stands the RE's are 2x as much as the BUR's.

do we need extra shims when using BUR-7EQ and BUR-9EQ for RX8? or it is just plug and play. :fingersx:

Just install them like you would any other plug. Scott uses them on his turbo RX-8's. You won't notice a difference in performance but your wallet will thank you. They are totally different looking plugs from the stock ones.

If I use 7's plugs, will my engine flood easier?

cuz I thought that Mazda changed the leading plug to something else ?

I think the stock ones are Iridium. I'm not sure. Whatever they're made of, they aren't any better than the RX-7 plugs.

I'm just not one to believe that one plug is responsible for flooding engines. That's a tuning issue combined with the fact that the ignition system as a whole just plain sucks. Then you've got the original starter. What a slow turning piece. There are many things that contribute to flooding issues but I'm not willing to claim one heat range different on spark plugs is going to do it. That shouldn't even matter.

Im using the 7 plugs. the BUR7 and BUR9's platinum tipped. I have no isses, car starts fine and runs even better at the higher RPMS. Sometimes theres start issues, but im sure its due to the pussy starter and the battery thats in the process of dieing..

hey abbid, was your starter and battery changed? I had to have mine changed earlier this year cause she wasn't even trying to start. Flatbedded and carted to dealer for replacement (that day sucked).

If what guys say is true, I think I'm going to pick up a set. I'm about due for some more plugs.

Because the stock plugs are in fact iridium, and they (NGK and/or Denso) feel they can get that kind of money for these plugs. The way it sounds from Rotorygod though, the iridium isn't really worth it in the end.

Hey RG, if the factory iridium are supposibly good for 35k miles (per Mazda), how long have you run or going to run the 7's plugs? All based on a N/A 8 of course.

It depends how hard you drive. There's no reason why they can't go 35K.

Based on their website, our plugs cost $19.95/plug + s/h..so..way below $35/plug...for 2 Trailing plugs & Lead plugs, that totals to $80 + s/h..add that to how often we change our plugs..that is like $26/yr if you do 10k/yr and change it out every 30k..

I did the change myself. I dont qualify for the upgraded started since im at 55k miles now :[

The Stock plugs are NGK Iridiums...

I'm using a set of NGK Racing Comp Plugs 9L10T if you are interested...
