Well there is a difference between "the little things" and what you like best about the RX8.

For example, if I were asked what part of the female body I like best, I would have to say the legs. But if I were asked about "the little things" I love about women, I would have to say I loved it when they smile.

I love the interior.

But it's hard to pinpoint a favorite thing.

To me the neatest aspect of this car and the trait that sums up its character (IMHO) is that if you drive it conservatively you will hurt the engine. That is just ingenious.

Oh yeah, also the handling, the style, the rotary engine, handling and the handling.

My dad taught me to drive when we lived in Italy (Sicily actually, the Italians call Sicily "Africa" and allways acted like they didn't want to claim it, but I digress). Learning to drive in dad's Alfa Romeo Spyder on winding mountain roads was a thrill. Part of my driving education included learning how to drift the car. He made me get 'checked out' on every new set of tires he put on the car.

The RX-8 is the only car I've driven since then that makes me feel the same way about driving. Fast straight ahead has never been that important to me. 28 mph around a common 4-way intersection corner is a thrill. Drifting in a broad sweeping turn is a hoot! I truly relish the sure-footed handling this car provides.

First is what I'm willing to bet is the smoothest engine in existance, followed by a perfect combination of handling and ride comfort.

The car is the sum of it's whole. It's handling, engine and styling. The RX8 reminds me of the Acura NSX. I can look at a 1990 NSX and still appreciate the car's genius. I'm quite sure when I look at the RX8 many years down the road, I will appreciate Mazda's genius even more.

Handling, the engine isn't that spectacular in my opinion it revs high and it's smooth but it makes no power or torque when you need it. I much prefered the 3.2L I6 in my BMW M3 but I prefer the sharp turn in and neutral handling of the 8.

I also think the fact that it has a stock CF driveshaft is pretty cool

a tough choice really with so many different aspects to like...but I'd have to say that the smooth and responsive attitude of the rotary engine, causing that infamous "whine" never ceases to amaze me...I'm hooked on the rotary engine! :)

The engine's sound is like no other. Ther car really makes you feel like you are one with the road, even if other cars around you are "faster"

I LOVE the engine's whine... but I got a question for those that either have an intake or exhause: does the whine go away after they're installed? Cuz that would suck.. for me anyway.

Gosh, it has got to be that burbble when the engine first lights in the morning. Reminds me of what the rest of my ride is gonna be like.

My favorite physical part of the car is the stainless steel strakes. Soooo hot.

My favorite part of the experience is the ride: Tight steering, excellent handling, comfortable suspension, and stability at high speeds. I mean HIGH speeds, like say... 140+

The suicide doors that let me put a boxed air conditioning unit or my bicycle into the passenger seat of a car that has the same exterior dimensions as a Porsche 911 and close the door! Second is the handling which is better than just about anything out there. Third is the price. It's an amazing car for what it costs.

Has to be the front. I love the way the hood fenders and bumper come together.

Actually, my favorite part of my RX-8 is how it pisses off the resident "Kool Kar Klub" in my town. They sit around at the car wash with their EVO's, Cobalt SS's, Tiburons, and Civics, and glare at me whenever I go by. Why? Because I don't have to park at a car wash for hours to get my car noticed.

I like how it takes a second or two for the HID lights to come on....I don't know why, but I think that is cool!

Actually, the HID lights are one of the reasons I bought the RX 8 and not a Mustang GT. That and about $5,000!

Hmm. In my area, they were going for about the same price ($27k). I considered a Mustang GT but didn't get one because EVERYONE has one.

I see you promptly dropped your savings into mods for it. Good boy. :yesnod:

true that! Around here, it's the mall parking lot from about 9PM to 1AM. I can't stand the autoclub...

Is leaving yur car primed and unpainted still cool around anywhere else? Cause I swear it has got to be one of the STUPIDEST things I have EVER seen...and just about every ricer in the region has some part of their car that drives around like so! :dunno:

Maybe that way they can pretent they are working on their cars all the time to make them so "cool."

My favorite thing is pwning one! ;)

I actually called a couple dealers today to inquire about leftover '05s since my girlfriend seemed she was finally ready to move on from her Altima (brought up getting a new car last weekend). But she came home when I was talking to some dealers and her frugal side is taking over and she's thinking she'll just drive the Altima into the ground. We're supposed to drive an '05 RX-8 and a couple VWs this weekend, but I have a feeling she's going to back out...

So with your vast knowledge of cars and knowing what you know about the 8, are you encouraging or discouraging her purchase of an 8? Or are you totally leaving it up to her to decide?

It's the Rotary engine. No other car has it.
But we all do !!!

She thinks all Mazdas are ugly, so I'm the one telling her she should give the RX-8 a go. Her first choice is a Jetta, go figure... So my plan is to have her drive the Jetta, GTI, and RX-8 and hopefully she choses the GTI or RX-8. Luckily she's insisting it has to be a manual or else the RX-8 wouldn't have been mentioned by me.

If it had a piston engine, I would never own one.
