What type of spare tire does the RX-8 come with. What's the spare tire package.... ??

Gee why didn't I think of that???? Maybe it's because at the time I posted it didn't seem to be functuning. I am in the middle east and don't really have the time to keep rechecking the se..arch engine... I am lucky I have internet access at all... I didn't mean to put you out but if it had been discussed you didn't have to read the message . I wish i had as much time as you to surf the net but I have to save some lives every now and again..

If you tried the search and failed, great, thanks for at least trying. We do get a whole lot of folks here who are too lazy to even try looking for answers before asking their question - glad you're not one of them.

BTW2, if this is your first time on the forum, chances are good that the slowness you're seeing is not because of your internet connection - the forum itself appears to be having some performance issues at the moment. Welcome aboard!

My assumption (probably most) is that your question pertains to the US market. I know it's optional here ($395, I believe) - but I think it's standard in some markets but I gave up trying to keep up with the differences a long time ago. Hope you so save some lives - I think it's close to time to bring our troops back home. At least I hope it is! oh, thanks, too (for saving lives over there!)

Thats what I was afraid of... When I am in the states I am 45 miles from the nearest town so a full sized spare is a deffinate need.... thanks for the info....

There is NO option for a full size spare. It's a $400 donut. A number of sports(y) cars today come with runflats or kits. I took the donut out of my Miata and use a kit...if necessary. Risky, but that's what life is all about! IMHO

Oh, and if you're going to opt for the spare, get it installed as a port option. The port-installed option is complete with mounting bracket, wheel and tire, while the accessory version you can buy through your local dealer doesn't come with a tire - just the bracket and wheel! (Nobody has yet come up with a good reason why Mazda does it this way.)

Damn that's good information to have b/c I will be ordering mine over the phone as soon as I get orders to come home....
