Cattywampus 05-22-2006, 11:31 AM Ha! Thats all I have to say.
rodrigo67 05-22-2006, 02:35 PM He says he doesn't even have to use the brakes around the track, and thats why he can run with the porsche's. I wonder if it has anything to do with that big boxy shape and wind resistence where he doesn't have to touch the brakes because the wind actually slows it down for him... :Peace:
REV_ME_62 05-22-2006, 02:46 PM LOL.... This guy! Too proud on sumtin that will never get ahead of us!
dupa12345 05-22-2006, 02:52 PM this is hillarious .. whoever the 8 owner was on the track .. take your car back to the garage .. polish it up and leave it out in front of your house for show .. but do make sure that you never again take it back to the track .. cause you make box owners think that they are just as fast
though i am glad that kid has some fun with that car .. small things like that can be always driven to the limit with none or minor consequences .. that may sometimes beat the benefits of the 8
Nemesis8 05-22-2006, 02:53 PM That's really funny - better look in my rear view mirror more often for boxes...
ZoomZoomH 05-22-2006, 02:54 PM a nice burn (on us) by the course worker in the video 'you're not leaning like that RX-8 out there', lol
Josche 05-22-2006, 03:35 PM I've been reading the guy's site. Pretty awesome. How does he come up with the money for the M5, elise, etc.? Especially if he keeps selling them after 6 months, seems like a lot of money down the drain due to depreciation.
NgoRX8 05-22-2006, 03:46 PM check out that box. lol

 Where do you find these things?
That track expert sounded like true handling genius commenting on the body roll. Was that the guy from Blade?
http://www.uipduna.hu/dynuip/images/donal_logue_2.jpg
That is pretty funny running the "box" at the track. I bet the other drivers get a good laugh, too. I would transplant a beast of an engine in that thing (mid mounted) to get even more reactions from the other drivers.
Notice how quickly that BMW 5 series accelerated away from the "box" out of the corner just before the handling analysis?
dtorre 05-22-2006, 06:44 PM Where was the RX8?
JRichter 05-22-2006, 07:03 PM Where was the RX8?
I never saw an 8 either (unless it was the red car infront of the black BWM towards the end of the clip - or was that that red 911 from earlier?).
mysql101 05-22-2006, 07:47 PM the rx-8 must have rolled over and crashed into a flaming ball of fire after the first turn, trying to outrun the box.
presequel 05-22-2006, 08:46 PM yea the 8 got pwned, but we didnt get to see it. maybe thats a good thing.
DRKSYDE 05-23-2006, 08:33 PM I have to reply to this thread because I find it funny as hell considering the car I drive for work.... :jump:

04' Scion Xb TRD Lowering springs and TRD 18" wheels with 1.5 gerbils under the hood. I must say... it actually does corner very well.
DRKSYDE 05-23-2006, 08:34 PM Forgot to add that I agree with everyone that if the Xb was catching the RX8 then the RX8 driver...errr I mean OWNER should make their car a garage queen!
Xantium 05-23-2006, 08:51 PM Don't forget that shoebox only weighs 2500lbs
supergoat 05-23-2006, 09:08 PM it actually does corner very well.
Never say that again. :)
DRKSYDE 05-23-2006, 09:11 PM LOL. Did I say it cornered better? NOPE! But I know many people that would be SHOCKED at the handling ability of the Toaster Oven. I still wouldn't let that lil sucker beat my 8 though!
DOMINION 05-23-2006, 09:36 PM Don't forget that shoebox only weighs 2500lbs
Oh yeah and it has 50HP too! :rollingla
Never say that again. :)
You know in the new issue of importturner the comic is of a shoe box drifting... Um yeah ok :uhh:
maxxdamigz 05-23-2006, 11:27 PM Think if I trade in the 8 I can get a Box heads up? I hope so. That's how you get into the big time autocross scene.
lure3o1 05-23-2006, 11:40 PM it was my 8. u guys just hurt my feelings.
HAHAHAHA jk.
BigOLundh 05-23-2006, 11:40 PM That's how you get into the big time autocross scene.I can't wait for the day i see a scion at the autocross.

rickeo 05-24-2006, 12:26 AM Scion xB at the track.. yea, its funny, i agree. But before you all go passing judgment on the the guy, spend a little time on his site. Ive been on his site reading his material for almost an hour now and wow, I would bet that he knows more about cars and track racing then most of you making fun of his Scion. Which btw, happens to be his daily driver and was only at the track for fun. It complements his "other" cars: '06 BMW M5, 2 Lotus ELises, Mini Cooper S, 2 BMW M Coupe's, 2 Ducati Motorcycles, Yamaha R1, Yamaha FZR-600, and MANY others listed here: http://dpcars.aprsworld.com/old/thepast.htm , not to mention the track only race car he BUILT here: http://dpcars.aprsworld.com/dp1/index.htm . Spend some time there, this guy is VERY smart, I know I learned something.
shinkuu 05-24-2006, 02:28 AM here's a scion on auto-x
http://gosubaobei.googlepages.com/DSC_3910Medium.JPG
and some more on track
http://www.bbist.com/Streets%202.jpg
and lastly, he was out braking the other cars into that chicane and catching up to them. yea his car came in slower and didnt have to brake as much but the cornering capability of a xB compared to all the other cars out there should more than compensate for the braking. it didnt and his xb was able to close in time after time on the chicane. or maybe he sacrificed exit speed, because he had none, for entrance speed. guy does seem really knowledgable and very fast.
Asmoran 05-24-2006, 09:00 AM Yep, a good driver can make the worst car in the world look good. He's done quite a bit of upgrades to that thing, and was probably the best driver out there. I'm not surprised he did well.
zoned 05-24-2006, 09:25 AM So the guy has an M5 and 2 M coupes and he uses an XB as a daily driver? WTF!?
DRKSYDE 05-24-2006, 10:38 AM Hey that tC doesn't count! :)
It's a whole different machine than the Xb. Celica engine and lower center of gravity.
Like I said above, the Xb does corner really well. Just has no nut...
Zephyr Words 05-24-2006, 10:55 AM So the guy has an M5 and 2 M coupes and he uses an XB as a daily driver? WTF!?
Right now his daily driver is a pretty nice Mini, he got rid of the xB a long time ago.
Josche 05-24-2006, 10:56 AM Scion xB at the track.. yea, its funny, i agree. But before you all go passing judgment on the the guy, spend a little time on his site. I've been looking at his site off and on for a couple days and I've gotten through most of it. The really exciting stuff is how he's designing and building his own race car, which will weigh around 800 lbs and use a custom 375hp V8 that's built from 2 hayabusa motors grafted together.
And he sold the Xb, no more track days with it, but he's got video of himself passing a C5 Z06 in his freaking mini! Awesome web site, I'm glad it was posted here!
shinkuu 05-24-2006, 03:07 PM Hey that tC doesn't count! :)
It's a whole different machine than the Xb. Celica engine and lower center of gravity.
Like I said above, the Xb does corner really well. Just has no nut...
the tC actually has a Camry engine.
OnRails 05-24-2006, 03:47 PM There was a guy at the local autocross a couple of weeks ago running one. Check this link http://www.ccrscca.com/results/solo2/ax3_06_pax.htm of the results. He placed 109 out of 118. I thought his time was pretty good considering.
DOMINION 05-26-2006, 06:21 PM So I take it that some of you guys root for the under Dog? I still think that shoe box is a POS. Just like the Mazda 3 rental I was in for 1 month. However it did out coroner a STI on a turn lane that was cool. But that STI would kill me anyday in that "bucket" so it was all on the driver.
DRKSYDE 05-26-2006, 06:42 PM Really? I the vvt-i was a Celica engine? I may be mistaken. Not really a yota guy. Never really cared.
RotaryRider36 05-26-2006, 08:20 PM Really? I the vvt-i was a Celica engine? I may be mistaken. Not really a yota guy. Never really cared.
Yea it is a camry engine. Toyota uses that motor in everything from the camry, to the solara, and apparently the TC. The older Toyotas were awesome. Im not really a fan of where they are currently going. The TC is the only toyota out right now besides a couple of the new Lexus (LexI??) that I find pretty good looking.
As for the box... :boring: But kudos to the driver for posting good times.
DRKSYDE 05-26-2006, 09:12 PM Figures I was wrong. Like I said, not to excuse my ignorance... I love cars and grew up around them my whole life. (father restores antiques) Just never been a fan of the Yotas so i never really paid much attention.
Thanks for the education! I will have to read up on them now.
shinkuu 06-01-2006, 08:50 PM yea i root for the underdog but i am no fan of the box. i was just pointing out the driving skill of controlling that box to catch up to faster and better cars on the S turn entrance. VVT-i is on many of Toyota's engine. tC has the 2.4 liter found in the Camry and is tuned for more tq. 160hp 163 tq. The Celica engine has two versions, 1.8 VVT-i and the 1.8 VVTL-i. L stands for lift. I love Toyotas but theres just nothing exciting from them anymore. I'm hoping to see the Supra in 2008.
Detrich 06-01-2006, 09:16 PM love the siggy dom...
Rootski 06-02-2006, 12:49 PM You can see the whole windshield pitch relative to the horizon. Someone explain how that is not body roll.
foxman 06-02-2006, 01:45 PM I couldn't find the 8.
