View Full Version : Rearview mirror doesn't darken

My rear wing is blocking the light that is sensed by the rearview mirror. On the highway, with cars in different lanes, it's not a problem. But when there is a vehicle directly behind me, the rear wing casts a shadow on the sensor of the Homelink mirror, so the mirror doesn't darken. Anyone else experience this? Solutions?

I run into this same exact problem. I have the mirror pushed up as high as it will go (so it doesn't obstruct my view).

I don't understand why a sensor is used instead of just relying on whether your lights are on.

I don't have a good solution...

The sensor is used so that it will dim the mirror when headlights are right behind you, and brighten it when noone is behind you so that you can see to the rear in the dark (especially when you are going in reverse).

make sure your front sensor is not block either, which is shouldn't but do check
