Test fitting the mintblue spoiler I bought from another board member shows the very outer sides of the spoiler, where it's off the trunk lid and over the rear fenders, to have a gap on both sides. Is it supposed to stand up from the body, or be flush with it when the trunk is closed?

you want it to have space from the fender or else when you close the trunk the spoiler will scratch or dent your fender. it's common sense.
