I saw you drive off today, sorry I didn't get to meet you. About five people came up to me to say an RX-8 was in the adjacent parking lot! Glad you met Ed and took a ride with him. He is an amazing driver with excellent car control.

I was driving the sideways 85 RX-7 today. Come introduce yourself next time if I don't track you down.

Sorry I missed you too. Funny you should mention Ed - I was talking to him for about ten minutes and thinking to myself that he sure looked like Ed Harlowe, a guy I worked with at SwRI once. Then someone called him Ed and I knew for sure. He was hiding behind those shades! We had a great time talking and you are absolutely right about his driving skills - I rode with him once and was extremely impressed. My son also rode with him. I also rode with Bret Sadler (he's a coworker of mine). I'll probably be out there again, so maybe we'll have a chance to meet.

Ed is a nice guy. He's a mild mannered tech guy but a monster behind the wheel!

The next autocross will be Sept 21 at the Alamodome. It might be the last one of the year so don't miss it. You should really come to run, but if you want to spectate once before participating, at least get a ride with one of the good drivers and you will be amazed.

Just think if Ed was driving a car with 50% more power and 100% more chassis (RX-8)!

i was on military last night (12/08/03) and saw a gray 8 get pulled over. just checking what the boys in blue got ya for, if ur on. also im down to get tint spdspappy. the only problem im leaving to vagas the 28 till jan 3. so let me know when your going.

when do people got to bucks? ill go jus let me know. AEM and Injen have product numbers for the eight. but wont be released till early or late january. The greddy sp2 system is also sold out till the mid of january. went to my shop Maximum Velocity to find out.

Bucks is a Friday night thing. I probably won't go until January. The Forum's (1604 & 35) cruisin night happens every Friday night as well. shawrf1 has the prototype greddy. The tint thing won't happen until after you get back, so I'll talk to the guy @ work and let you know by the beginning of Jan.

well my car club is about to get sponcerd (sorry cant spell) by a shop and they do tint there. ill get back to u cuz the shop is being taken over by a new owner and they dont have the computers up probley wont be up till the new year, but ill let u know the if we can get a better deal on tint.

no web site yet cars: MY Mazda 2004 Rx-8, 2003 Nissan 350Z,1990 Talon TSI,2003 Mitsubishi EVO,Mitsubishi Eclipse 2003 GTS,2000 Celica, were picking up an S2000, and IS300. I got a call yesterday and a kid i grew up with said his big brother got a 350Z, and from my understanding he got the greddy twin turbo kit. I told him i need to see it to belive it. If u see any of the guys with the decal dont hesitate to talk to them they are all nice guys and love the import scene.

im going to talk to the guy today and get every thing on paper. i dont want to quote u any thing and he bump prices up out of no where. Is there a specific type u want (tint)? We go out to the strip. my friend takes the Talon and Eddy with the evo wants to get a boost controler before he takes on the 1320. Scottie has his Tsi in the low 13's. but its been a while and that was before his bigger turbo and his port ant polish job done to the intake and exhaust manifold. so well see later

That's going to be hard since most of the window (glass and tint) shops are local concerns. You might be able to ensure some guarantee through the manufacturer (3M maybe?), but maybe not.

I'm waiting until it warms up (to lessen any chance of flooding) before I approach my preferred shop in Austin and talk to them about getting the 8 done.

The manufacturer should guarantee it as long as their reputable.

Against defects in the product, I'd agree. Poor installation, I can see a mfr being less accomodating.

I plan on visiting my preferred provider this week and I'll ask about warranties & mfr guarantees.

thanks, i am proud to be one of the gang! it has around 750 miles on it, so it's just about there. i got it on march 5th and so far all is well. i don't see many 8s around new braunfels, so i get a LOT of stares. really cool.

5 that I know of. However, one/two of those is from texasrxs (we kind of overlap). I ran into DoobyWho yesterday and he's going to join up as well... The next major meeting will be April 10. spdsappy: man...i had to get the new french doors framed in before it started raining and it took much longer than i thought. it was a real bummer, but at least now its done. i am going to keep an eye on upcoming events and make damn sure i am free to attend future functions!

how did it go for you? learn any cool new techniques?

The class was GREAT! We had about 12 runs & I let the instructor (we had the same one the whole time & was also a Mazda fan) drive 3 times to see what kind of times the car could get (we were in a competition w/ the S2k & Mini). I learned a lot. I can't believe how well this car does in the slalom. I just kept pushing it faster and it never got out of control (in the slalom that is). There were some mini guys (cooper, not “vertically challenged”) that were talking trash to me in a restaurant during the event on the 21st, but their best run was over 1.5 seconds behind me. The course had a bunch of different types of maneuvers (Chicago box, slalom, etc.) to get us novices used to seeing some of them. I would definitely recommend it for everyone and I plan on going again next time.

I'm from Jersey and made my first visit to Texas this past weekend to attend the Air Force recruit graduation at Lackland AFB. I spotted only one RX8 in my three full days in San Antonio. On Friday evening (23 April) at about 6pm heading east on 90 right before the Ball Park exit I spotted a yellow 8. Was that anyone on the forum?

Yeah, you don't see a whole lot of them here (unfortunately). I don't know anybody in my group that has a yellow one.

Sorry about that. They were calling for flooding, so I didn't go. We have a couple events this weekend, but I'm not going to be able to attend most. The first is tonight (SAR), the next is a Wimberly run on Sunday. Check out the Calendar in the yahoo group for info on all the events. I asked if anyone was going to the Wimberly run & I didn't get any replies back. I may or may not go on the Wimberly run since my wife is leaving for 4 weeks next week, but I posted the instructions on the Yahoo group.

One more thing, the activities guy in the vette club you saw is a friend of mine (pewter C5). You should have stopped & said hi. Oh well. Also, if you don't see anyone, stick around for a little while. Other people may have done the same...

I bought my 8 in SA around Nov. and drove it to North Carolina were I am stationed. I am US Marine currently in Haiti. I will be back in SA in the beginning of Aug. for good. Taken my car down Military Dr. and Commerce. Looking to join a club when I get back.

I saw a Blue RX8 @ North Star mall earlier this week w/ an exhaust I hadn't seen before (it was more of a rectangle than a circle). I tried to leave my business card w/ info about this forum as well as the Alamo RX Club, but the security guard removed it (long story... I'll be contacting mall management about that one). I've also seen a green 8 quite a few times up here on my side of town (NE) w/ the license plate hld fst. Are either of you on here???

The AlamoRXClub I think changed the weekly meeting to thursdays at Bennagan's (I-10 & Wurzback). I tried to make it last week but was too late, I did see a couple of FDs in the parking lot but I didn't see anyone out there.

just checken how everyone's doing? havent herd from anyone in a while. B-nez i saw your car at ipac earlier this week.Yeah I took a week off from work to get some stuff done I've been putting off. I brought it over there to get my A/C knob replaced and have them check the wiring on my shock sensor. The dealership in FL bungled the diode wiring when they installed the update kit to the sensor. After holding my car all day, they managed to get the sensor sorted out, but did not have the correct knob replacement. The real bummer, is that while "confirming the customer complaint" (I guess), they managed to break the knob even worse than it was. The post had only been cracked - allowing the knob to turn past the stops and allowing one to easily pull it off. Now the post actually has a piece broken out of it and it falls off when you step on the gas. I've been keeping it in the glove box (got tired of chasing it around the cabin every 5 minutes), but the exposed panel lighting is pretty annoying. Hopefully the new part will come in VERY soon. Hopefully it won't take them all day to pop a knob on this time.

This morning I am refilling the diff with Royal Purple over at the Lackland Auto Hobby shop. I had wanted to get an estimate from Jack's Paint Place for repairing my door this week, too, but I've run out of days...I'm taking more time off in 2 weeks, so I'll have to be sure and get over there then. Plus, I'll install my SS clutch hose and refill the MT with Red Line.

3 days before we moved from Florida, a lady at our church parked next to me in her SUV and her son flung open his door - making a huge dent with a deep scratch on my passenger side above the door handle. Scratch was down to the primer.

After I got home from refilling my differential, my speedbleeder had arrived in the mail. I knew that would happen - that was the last piece I've been waiting for to install my SS clutch hose.

Well, I do service myself, but I've been getting my TSB work done at IPAC, 410 between Culebra and Ingram. There should be something decent closer to you, though.

Been getting excellent service from World Car on Fredericksburg about a half-mile inside the loop. I've got nothing but good things to say about sales and service.

I got the L-flash in Florida, and IPAC flashed me to M. I had it in for the a/c knob, and said somrthing along the lines of, "I haven't had the latest PCM update, and I know that Mazda has made that pretty much mandatory." Mark said, "no problem we'll flash it," and they did.

Anyone else going to the UTSA orchestra concert tomorrow night? They're going to have a solo violinist. I am so stoked - it'll be my sons' first time.

Try Tim at maximum velocity, off of eckert., you also got tommy at speed elements, off of perrien biettle (sp) im pretty sure they can do a install.

Are exhaust upgrades helping RX-8's much?

from my understanding and reading through the threads everyone says no. since we lack the turbo there is really no need for a bigger exhaust. HP gains of about 3 i think.

well i went to the meet this weekend nothing big at all. alot of civics. there was a older man there with his wife who had a 240sx which was converted into a s13. he did the install of the sr20 by him self very impressive. there was a tiberon (s/p) club, along with the civic club as i stated earlier. a wrx, some eclipses, integras, a supra, but i was the only rotary. my friends went along in there rides a evo, hyabusa, an r1. any thing going else going on in san antonio?
