I didn't know where else to put this.

If any of you get Road&Track, in the September issue, it had some 3 pages of new concept cars. I was looking through them, and I stumbled upon the "2006 Mazda RX-7." What was I was thinking right then, is, "If they are going to make a new Rotary car, why are they using RX-7? Why not RX-9?" Yes, I understand that they are going to make it a true 2-seater sports car again, but why dont they just follow what they were doing before, instead of using the old name? Any of you guys know why they did this? aside from that, I think a Miata with a rotary engine is pretty neat.

The RX-7 is Mazda's flagship sportscar and is the car that made what Mazda is today. They're probably going to introduce the 4th generation RX-7 in 2006. The RX-8 is not following the RX-7, it's a completely different kind of car that happens to be powered by a Rotary engine thus the RX terminology. They don't need an RX-9...

I agree, but it's not going to happen. That's a rumor that has come up dozens or hundreds of times, and it keeps getting shot down. Do a search either here or on www.miataforum.com (try searching on "bwob rotary miata").

It is the perfect engine for the Miata, but it's just not likely at all.

itd be sick if they dropped a renesis into a miata for like, a limited production, a really small number, like 4000 for the US or something, and called it the miata but had like an RX subscript or someting to show its a rotary and a special color and body kit and such
