Carolina Regional Mustang Club Performance Driving School Series provides you, the student, an opportunity to improve your driving skills in your own car with an instructor on board on a real road course. IT IS NOT A RACING SCHOOL. "Racing" will NOT be tolerated. The skills you learn at this school can be applied to situations we all face almost daily on our streets and highways. By learning how to maintain control of your vehicle during unexpected situations, you may someday be able to avoid an accident or injury. SAFETY is our primary goal..
All Makes and Models, not just Mustangs, are Welcome!!!!! We are a Mustang Club, but we want to help improve the skill level of ALL the drivers we see on the roads each day.
There will be a limit of 75 students! Please register early to assure your spot. All applications must be postmarked no later than May 20, 2006.
On the advice of our physician, we do not accept applications from participants who are or may be pregnant.
Persons with a physical impairment, which may interfere with their participation, should contact Tom Hennig before submitting an application.

Young Drivers, 16 and 17 years old may participate with parental consent. Consent forms will be available only at the track during the event, and a parent must be at the track with their Young Driver for the duration of the school. All Young Drivers will be assigned to the D Group regardless of prior experience. Young Drivers may be on the track only with their instructors.

SilverEIGHT 05-03-2006, 07:35 PM OK, time to bring this one back to the top. I'm thinking seriously about driving this event. Is there anyone else interested? $280 for two days is a dang good price!
Kurt Bob 05-03-2006, 09:31 PM It sounds pretty good. The only thing is that CMP is so hard on your brakes, that I'd rather do one of their Turn One track days. Most of the time they have them on Fridays. It's $170 for one day, but I understand you get a lot of track time with fewer people.
Hey...I'd do either one. If we have a group going, I'd probably sign up for the Mustang Club event.
TrackAddict 05-03-2006, 09:44 PM I would if I could but I can't. Enjoy the track and tell me all about it as I will be there with NASA in July.
Big_Mike_4488 05-04-2006, 12:06 PM They have a beginner's class or is track experience required?
EDIT: Nevermind I just read the application. I might be interested. I'll talk to my good buddy and see if he wants to take his mustang up there if I take my 8. Anyone know if spots are still open?
SilverEIGHT 05-04-2006, 12:18 PM Yes, they do have a beginner's and you will have an instructor with you.
SilverEIGHT 05-04-2006, 12:50 PM I'll be in touch with James Ray and get back to you on openings.
Stop&TurnFreak 05-04-2006, 12:58 PM This is a good group, I instruct here every year. I love these guys/gals.
SilverEIGHT 05-04-2006, 03:14 PM STF, will you be there for this event?
SilverEIGHT 05-05-2006, 06:53 PM I'm posting this for James Ray, the Chief Instructor:
He was my instructor at Road Atlanta this March and I was very fortunate to have him.

Kurt Bob, are you interested in sharing a room? I'm printing the form out now and will be sending it in tomorrow. I'm going for it. :p:

SilverEIGHT 05-08-2006, 06:55 PM I just found out my instructor is "Mr. Roar Racing", Rob Whitener III. I think it is safe to say I'm pretty excited.
I shot this pic of him in August 2005 at Road Atlanta driving the #26.

SilverEIGHT 05-09-2006, 03:58 PM Sorry to here you will not be there. Maybe next time.
valpac 05-09-2006, 04:57 PM Good looking car that 26!:wink2: Too many stickers though.

SilverEIGHT 05-16-2006, 07:27 AM Kurt Bob, we are registered at the Executive Inn. May not be the best facility but it is only 4-5 miles from the track.
$54 per night.

SilverEIGHT 05-25-2006, 07:42 PM ------------------------------ I'm getting just a tad excited!
Kurt Bob 05-25-2006, 10:45 PM I'm looking forward to it.
I had a little scare a couple nights ago, when I hit a a big object that was right in the middle of my lane on I-20. I thought for sure it shattered the airdam. However, when I finally pulled over and inspected it, it appeared to be just limited to the underpan. I have since fixed it to the point that it is in pretty good shape. Close Call!
SilverEIGHT 05-26-2006, 06:15 AM STF & Steve are going to be there. Read it in the NASA CMP thread.

SilverEIGHT 05-30-2006, 01:29 PM I'll be leaving around noon on Friday... 5 hour drive. Do you know who you will be instructing yet or are you even instructing this time?
SilverEIGHT 05-31-2006, 01:15 PM TWO MORE DAYS!
Till Tech Inspection!

Stop&TurnFreak 05-31-2006, 06:25 PM YEAH!!!! Only ONE more day.
SilverEIGHT 05-31-2006, 07:20 PM All prep work is done: Oil changed, new coils, Hawk HPs, Front Strut, back seats out, super-duper custom video mount, waxed and ready to go. Running with my street tires for the first few sessions then I may be changing over to my instructors extra set of Yokohama's. That should be fun!

With all of those mods SilverEight is probably going to be faster than his instructor, especially with some grippy tires. I am glad to see everyone is excited. I was prepping my car tonight and noticed I should probably change brake pads, but did not have the right ones. :banghead: Will order those tomorrow and install Friday before leaving. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time.
SilverEIGHT 05-31-2006, 09:24 PM Howdy Rob! Every curve I take wheather it's at 10 or 60 MPH, I'm thinking about apex's and exit and practicing my heal/toe when possible. Looking forward to Saturday morning. Looks like STF will be runing on Friday. Will you be as well?
MazdaratiRob 05-31-2006, 10:03 PM I was hoping to get down early enough to participate on Friday and get a good spot. However, my brake problem will prevent that from happening. I do expect to be there between 5 - 6 pm depending on how bad traffic is going through Charlotte.
Stop&TurnFreak 05-31-2006, 11:12 PM Well, tires are being mounted tomorrow, brakes are changed up front, and the car is 'basically' ready. I updated the setup to reflect the new track layout. I also took some rake out of the setup, which I don't think is right, but I am not sure that is the best thing to do.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
TrackAddict 06-01-2006, 08:04 AM Y'all have fun! Silver - why new coils?
SilverEIGHT 06-01-2006, 08:26 AM TA, I took my car to Charlie for a once over. He took the first coil off and it was fried. Took it to Sutherlin for a replacement and the warranty covered 3. The forth one was OK so I paid for it and got a full set of 4.
Stop&TurnFreak 06-01-2006, 09:38 AM I am leaving in the AM. Anyone else excited?
SilverEIGHT 06-01-2006, 09:50 AM Nope! :D:
MazdaratiRob 06-01-2006, 02:43 PM I stay excited, so this is normal for me. :wiggle:

You know ... frying those coils is bad for your cholesterol. The heart healthy method is to bake or grill them. :wavey:
SilverEIGHT 06-01-2006, 08:42 PM LOL... OK I'll try that method next time.
Stop&TurnFreak 06-01-2006, 09:16 PM Camera, check, RA1's check, new pads, check, less boost (unfortunately) check, helmets, check, release forms, check, CMP setup applied, check, some new tricks, check......
handing mustangs their butt all weekend......:) check.
Ok guys, you have to root 32V on, he is up to break the 2M barrier at CMP. It is a milestone considering how little power his car has. Send him some words of encouragement......
As for me, I am looking to go sub 1:50. However, with the heat, and less boost, it looks like I will be lucky to get 1:55's. Either way, I don't care, I am out to help my Steve this weekend.
SilverEIGHT 06-01-2006, 09:51 PM Go Steve Go!
Loaded the GA RX-8 Club E-Z Up and Banner. I will be taking my camera and my DV Cam but I will not be my usual SilverEIGHT Photo Freak this weekend but I will try to capture us in action occasionally if it doesn't interfere with my concentration. I learned at Road Atlanta that driving does not lend it self to taking photos. When I take photos I have to concentrate as much as when I'm driving and I ain't got that much concentration to give.
legokcen 06-01-2006, 10:27 PM Alright guys have fun at your track day. I'm going to the Gainesville Road Course with the G35 and 350Z club. I'm going to be passing some much higher horsepower cars. You all have fun, I know I will. You'll have to tell me all about it because I'm going to experience CMP in July.
Phlash 06-02-2006, 06:36 AM You guys have fun and be carefull...I'll be doing virtual laps with you from the two (yes two ) kiddie birthday parties I HAVE to attend this weekend........Silver...remember....slow is fast......B-safe.
SilverEIGHT 06-02-2006, 06:50 AM Thanks Plash! Slow in fast out not fast in ass out, right?
Interesting note on my video set up. I tested it this morning on the way in. I stuck the mini mic into a chunk of sponge and ran an extension from my camera audio in to under the dash and secured it. Then noise from wind has always bothered me when editing because I think the sound of the car is important and the wind always renders the audio useless. My test worked perfectly. I cruised down I-985 and onto GA 20 without any degradation of audio (within reason). If anyone is interested in my set-up, I will take pics and publish after this weekends event. Stay tuned for some interesting vids.
SilverEIGHT 06-02-2006, 10:28 AM I'm out-a-here! Catch you guys later!
Stop&TurnFreak 06-02-2006, 07:44 PM Steve ran some 1:57's, but I believe after reviewing the film, we will find some faster laps. :). He is the track machine now.
MazdaratiRob 06-04-2006, 10:29 PM Late Breaking News from CMP in Kershaw, SC.
What a fantastic weekend. A great time was had by all at the Mustang Club event. There were certainly some fast Mustangs, but there were some fast RX-8's as well. SilverEIGHT and Kurt Bob really showed everyone what the little rotary can really do in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. I had the priveledge of instructing both and am extremely proud to say those two boys can drive. I thought it particularly interesting that near the end of the day on Sunday both said they were going to "dial it back a bit" and maybe to them they thought they did. However, from the passenger seat, both were more relaxed and focused and actually were driving faster than they had all weekend. Congratulations to both of you and thanks for the great weekend. There are tons of pictures and some video from SilverEight (who else?) that will be forthcoming so everyone can enjoy a small part of the experience.
I look forward to meeting more forum members soon. From what SilverEIGHT tells me there will be quite a few of you attending the Grand AM races at Barber. See you there if not before.
SilverEIGHT 06-04-2006, 11:12 PM Just got home, I'm too tired to try to make sense of a post so I'll just keep it short.
DSC did not play ANY part of my weekend. I turned it off for my first couple sessions then I forgot to turn it off for my third and it never kicked in... not once! I left it on for one more session on Saturday and Sunday as well. It just wasn't a factor. No matter how much I pushed it and trust me, I did push it.
Some really interesting vids to come. Me smoking Mustangs and a 3 lap battle to get past a Mustang that I won and immediately following I set my site on a BMW and took him only to go hot into turn 1 and have to give it up right at the end of the session. Turn 11 will be a short vid of me in hot and not getting on the brake hard enough and digging up a little grass. That was a tad exciting.
You guys are going to love this course when you come up with NASA. I promise it will become one of your favorites.
Now for our instructor. Rob (MazdaratiRob) was fantastic. He knows the RX-8 and knows how to drive it. It was a pleasure to have him in the seat next to me and coaching. Thanks Rob! Oh, and thanks for letting Kurt & me drive your Farrari. That was a hoot. (Pics to come!) Enjoyed meeting Ravelle (spelling) and evening get togethers in Kershaw.
Guys, you need to venture outside of the NASA organization and experience some of these other events. You will find that many of the same people participate in driving, instructing and managing.
OK, I gotta go to bed cause 5:20 will come early. Expect more post. Especially from Kurt bob. He has a really exciting one to tell you. Maybe?
AWESOME!
Stop&TurnFreak 06-05-2006, 12:22 AM Silver,
Sorry, I didn't get to hang out more this weekend, but I wanted to say, seeing you on track this weekend, you looked more relaxed than I have ever seen you. Being able to push the car, and not have DSC come on is a 'testament' to your growing abilities.
Kurt, you looked very comfortable behind the wheel in the A group. I got to see the car in action, as I sneaked out with that group for a few sessions. The car looked settled, and was carrying great speed.
Rob, never got to share words, but did share the track. I was impressed with your demeanor, and your ability to drive in a crowd. I haver never seen someone push an RX to the limit, and look like they were on a sunday drive. Next time, I would REALLY like to catch a ride. Maybe at some point, you could jump in my black Evo (you can pick either seat), and teach me some pointers. I am always up for a lesson.
To all, missed you guys at the track, look forward to the next event. As for me, I have a lead on a race at Beaverun this coming weekend. (I am the true track whore).
Bigpinekey 06-05-2006, 07:20 AM I'll chime it, too, and tell everyone what a good weekend it was. It was nice meeting folks and putting faces with names. I saw Kurt exhibiting smoothness on track and gave Don a ride around.
S&TF, where'd you go Sunday? Did you came back to the track? I didn't see you in the paddock or on track.
Here's a short clip I posted on another forum. It is a hi tech G-Meter to demonstrate the forces at work on the car, while in hard turns.

Bigpinekey, you have one sweet ride. (Notice his "G" indicator hanging on his rear view.) I love it! Thanks for the ride in the vette. I really enjoyed meeting you and laughing with the crowd and your quick-witted humor. Your instruction while a passenger in your car helped me a lot when I got back in the driver seat. Also, thanks for the contribution to the GARX8Club, we can definitely utilize your old rotors for tie downs on our E-Z Up. Now I need to acquire two more.
Stop&TurnFreak 06-05-2006, 09:34 AM BigPineKey,
I was there on Sunday, just not driving. I was poisoned at a Fast Food joint on the way home Saturday. Undoubtedly, they heard the Evo was destroying all, and the Mustang guys had the folks at the local Wendys slip me something to slow me down. Well, they succeeded. :).
I wish I could have gotten a ride in the Vette, but I am sure I will see you at least one more time this year (if not many more).
As for the rest of the RX guys, where are you guys at the morning? Slow start to the week?
legokcen 06-05-2006, 09:43 AM BigPineKey,
I was there on Sunday, just not driving. I was poisoned at a Fast Food joint on the way home Saturday. Undoubtedly, they heard the Evo was destroying all, and the Mustang guys had the folks at the local Wendys slip me something to slow me down. Well, they succeeded. :).
STF, Sounds more like they "Sped You Up" instead of "Slowed You Down." :rollingla
SilverEIGHT 06-05-2006, 05:41 PM See what you guys missed! I got to drive this puppy! Kurt did too but his ride was a tad faster than mine. I was being polite. Thanks for the pic Kurt and THANKS for letting me drive her Rob.

SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 04:50 AM For anyone that is interested in requesting Rob for an instructor, the following is his upcoming schedule, two of which he is instructing:
June 17 & 18 at VIR with Mazda Drivers HPDE, ROAR Racing will have at least one maybe two of their race cars there for that one as well.
June 23 & 24 Grand Am race at Mid Ohio
July 8 & 9th Road Atlanta with the Peachstate BMW Club HPDE. The chief instructor for the BMW event at CMP said they still have space in all run groups. Jody and Rob are going to be instructing with them. Jody is the Corvette driver that I rode with and a dang good driver.
July 28 & 29 Grand AM at Barber
SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 07:26 AM Working on vids. Hopefully have one this evening, late. My favs are:
1. Mustang chase down, took half the session to pass him then hooked and realed in a BMW
2. Start behind the pace car and held it till just before the end of the session. Dang Mustang!
3. Started 7 cars down to see how I could do passing. I love this one.
Is anyone reading this thread or am I all alone? :jerkit:
L8APEX 06-06-2006, 08:18 AM hey silver, I noticed that the two other flags for Classic and Grassroots were not on the EZ-UP. Were they not in the EZ-UP bag. And did you get to drive the Ferrari on track, or just around the paddock area. Either way, I am extrmely jealous.
SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 08:28 AM The flags were not in the E-Z Up bag or rolled up in with the banner. I guess you still have them at your place.
I drove the Ferrari out of the facility and up the road for a couple miles. Did not get it on the track, but who cares! Seat time in a peice of work like that is seat time.
L8APEX 06-06-2006, 08:32 AM yep, I would love to pilot one of those one of these days. I guess I need to ask TA and the guys that were at Roebling where the flags are. I had to leave Roebling early, and was not there for takign them down. I am sure they are around, I will find them, they need to be all kept together.
SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 11:34 AM Video #1: Hot in turn 11 (http://silvereightstudio.com/movies/CMP060306/Hot_turn_11.mov)
L8APEX 06-06-2006, 11:46 AM :Eyecrazy: nice, I don't know if that could have been caught, you just cooked that corner. but nice save anyway, and no harm no foul. Just don't tell the wife :Freak_ani
and that is one rock solid camera mount, any chance at a limited production run on another one?
SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 11:59 AM Thanks L8.
As for the limited run on one camera mount... I already have an order for 3. I just have to figure out the cost and production and I think I'm going to market them as a specialty item for the RX-8 and maybe even look into other cars as well.
L8APEX 06-06-2006, 12:04 PM well, if the price is right, I would like one. My ghetto camera mount does an ok job, but the video is shaky, and not so great. That mount you have is solid as a rock, even when you spun, it moved with the car rather than flail around.
I still need to get some of my video from roebling up for public consumption, maybe I can do that tonight.
Phlash 06-06-2006, 12:07 PM Nice Silver.........now the big billion dollar question.......do you know what you did? I have my own idea.....been there, done it......turn up the volume.......
PS - remember us peon's when your camera mount takes off and you beome a zillionare and start buying or building your own tracks.......:0)
SilverEIGHT 06-06-2006, 12:12 PM Phlash, I did not get on the brake hard enough and accelerate through the turn. That's my story and I sticking with it. But, I'd love to get your take on it.
Phlash 06-06-2006, 08:06 PM Phlash, I did not get on the brake hard enough and accelerate through the turn. That's my story and I sticking with it. But, I'd love to get your take on it.I, by all means, am no track ho or certified track freak such as TA or STF...what do I think? I can't really tell how much or how long you were in/on the brakes, but if you crank the sound I don't hear any throttle in that turn......my take, because I've done that same thing, is stay in the throttle, even a little, to keep the rear planted........just my .02.......use at your own risk.......
Sidebar: The video brace seems to work great! You are a lot smoother than the last time I saw you drive at TGPR....way to go!!
olddragger 06-06-2006, 09:47 PM nice vid SIlver----:)
Better understanding now of " slow in--fast out?" On that type of turn? Happens fast doesnt it? It is invaluable to experience that so you know how the car handles in that type of slide.
You are running stock shocks aren't you. Rear end does get a little dancy under high speed hard braking with the oems. But you may just had done as you said "too hot!"
Looks like a fun hard braking track--check your intake this week--see if any blow back is in there. WElcome to the coil club!
Olddragger
Kurt Bob 06-06-2006, 09:50 PM I'll chime it, too, and tell everyone what a good weekend it was.
Hi-Tech G-Meter (http://userpages.i-america.net/austin/cmp060306gdemo.wmv)
OK. My turn to chime in. First of all, thanks for the kind words Rob, STF and BigPine. It was a perfect weekend except for my "brain fart" on Sunday morning; y'all were kind enough not to mention it. If anyone sees a video of a blue RX-8 doing a dramatic spin in turn 10 at about 100 mph, it wasn't me. I apparently left my body for a short time. When I returned to my body, I found myself in the grass facing the wrong way. It was a little bit embarrassing, but provided a good lesson.
Rob was a great instructor. He and his wife Ravelle are terrific people to hang with. I'll definitely keep in touch for other events.
Big Pine, you crack me up! Your G-meter would make me dizzy.
The Mustang Club that put on the event was first class. Everything ran like clockwork. No session ran more than 5 minutes late. We got lots of track time!
I'll definitely sign up for this one next year!
SilverEIGHT 06-07-2006, 04:44 AM I, by all means, am no track ho or certified track freak such as TA or STF...my take? Sidebar: The video brace seems to work great! You are a lot smoother than the last time I saw you drive at TGPR....way to go!!Thanks Phlash, I agree with you and OD. I was hot coming in because I didn't brake hard enough and like you said I was not on the gas. After that incident I never had that problem again in that turn and I started hitting the brakes later and harder and on the gas much better. It was a good thing it happened and I did learn from it.
Edited another one last night and will get it posted this evening when I get home. I still need to finalize and compress it.
Phlash 06-07-2006, 06:54 AM ...............and I did learn from it.
That, my good friend, is what these events are all about! Keep up the good work!
SilverEIGHT 06-07-2006, 04:36 PM Video #2: RX-8 vs Mustang (http://silvereightstudio.com/movies/CMP060306/RX8vsMustang.mov)
It took a while but it was my sweetest victory all weekend. Then I set my sites on an Audi. Too much fun it is! I used music on this one instead of the actual audio because my audio in the car got turned off somehow.
EDIT:
I deleted the music and left it without audio after the sound went off. The music was obnoxous! No sound is better than sucky music.
Bigpinekey 06-07-2006, 04:56 PM It took a while but it was my sweetest victory all weekend.
This is Driver's Education, not racing! :nono:
:mdrmed:
SilverEIGHT 06-07-2006, 05:55 PM Well, I didn't time it!
SilverEIGHT 06-07-2006, 08:00 PM Video #3: Start in back (http://silvereightstudio.com/movies/CMP060306/Start_in_back.mov)
I asked to bring up the rear to see if I could pass through the crowd. So I had to deal with slow traffic. A fast Mustang passed me but after a brief two-wheel encounter with the dirt that earned him a pull-in. I didn't see him again.
SilverEIGHT 06-08-2006, 12:16 PM I'm compressing my last session now. I started on the lead position. This is a complete 20 min. session with no edits. As we were pulling out on the track, I told Rob, my instructor, I was going to dial it back and just make sure I didn't screw anything up but what I actually wound up doing was making my best laps of the weekend. I will have it uploaded this evening.
Edit:
Stupid spelling of my instructor corrected! :dunce:
MazdaratiRob 06-08-2006, 03:02 PM Ray? Is this video from your Road Atlanta event?
SilverEIGHT 06-08-2006, 04:50 PM Ray? Is this video from your Road Atlanta event?
Ah, no... (ducks under the table) Not shure why I miss typed your name... sorry!
That's Rob! :o:
SilverEIGHT 06-08-2006, 06:09 PM OK, I believe this will be the last one. I have to get some other things done around the house.
EDIT:
Video is temporarly down. I need to re-compress it. Seems to have a glitch at 2 min.
EDIT II:
I'm moving the link to a later post.
olddragger 06-08-2006, 08:58 PM ok I am waiting to see this vid---agggghhhhh!
OD
SilverEIGHT 06-08-2006, 09:05 PM It's compressing right now. Then I will have to upload it.
SilverEIGHT 06-08-2006, 09:20 PM Video #4, Full session: From the Front of the Pack (http://silvereightstudio.com/movies/CMP060306/Front_of_pack.mov)
Pretty boring unless you want to learn the course.
SilverEIGHT 06-10-2006, 07:31 PM More photos from our gracious photographer, Thanks Ravelle!
SilverEIGHT 06-10-2006, 07:33 PM More...
SilverEIGHT 06-10-2006, 07:49 PM another couple:

I took me a while, but I'll be posting the video soon. It's getting approved on google video as we speak. I am the driver that taped Kurt Bob's car spin through the kink at CMP

not only is that what I believe to be the only video of kurtbob, but a scary one at that. That looked insane. Is there any chance you have that file a little less compressed, I would notmind having a copy of it, somehow.

Hi Stimpy! Enjoyed talking with you at CMP. I wish you could have seen your face when you came by our EZ-Up and was telling me about the vid and the spin. your eyes were WIDE open and you had a huge $#!t eating grin on your face like you had just won the lottery. I loved it!
It's interesting, the video does not really show the speed at which he was going when he made that exit of the track. I think we are talking over 103 MPH. His instructor was the same as mine and after that spin, Rob kept telling me ever time we entered the kink, "On the gas!" which is the same thing your instructor was telling you so you would not let up and do the same thing Kurt did. Actually that turned out to be a good lesson for us all. (Pay attention guys that are driving with NASA next month.)
Thanks for posting.
Stimpy 06-23-2006, 09:04 PM I had a lot of fun that weekend. That event was very well organized.
I am going again tomorrow for 1 day with Turn 1 Motorsports.
Hi Stimpy! Enjoyed talking with you at CMP.
Same here, I was glad to see some other cars out there besides mustangs :eyetwitch
Is there any chance you have that file a little less compressed
I can encode it in MPEG-2. I can put it up on my server (slow), you should be able to get it if you are patient enough. I'll let you know as soon as it is up there.
SilverEIGHT 06-23-2006, 09:09 PM Thanks, great shot!
Stop&TurnFreak 06-23-2006, 09:15 PM STimpy, I will be down with Turn1 tomorrow too. See you there.
L8APEX 06-24-2006, 07:51 AM thanks stimpy, I will keep a look out for it. It will be a good addition to my RX-8 track video collection. They hold me over between hits on the go fast track pipe.
