Hey has anyone experienced this? When I get up into high rpm's (usually above 6500), I get a loud, loose rattling noise from under the passenger console. I'm scheduled to take my car in next week, but I thought I'd ask if any of you have had this, so I can know perhaps what it is before they say it's "perfectly normal" and I shouldn't rev it so high.

no rattles here, get your car checked out.
I experienced something similar to what you're saying. Do a few searches. I believe I started a thread on this a while back.

Mine rattles above around 6500~7000 as well. and yes it seems that its from the Passenger side. It sounds like something is "going loose" when the RPM is high. Its back to "normal" as soon as the RPM drop below 6.5~7K point.
I guess maybe I should have it check.
Oh, you started a thread ? What results u got? and do u know what makes the rattle noise ?

I checked out your thread, and it seems you had the same problem. Did you ever bring it in again to get it fixed? People seem quick to call it pinging or normal noise. This started happening in the past hundred miles, around 1200 for me, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that is normal noise. It sounds like something is loose in there.
I called Mazda just now to move up my appt. to thursday, so I'll let you guys know what happens. These guys had problems even booking my appointment, so my expectations aren't too high  . I'm also getting the headlights leveled, flash checked, and tranny looked at, since it's incredibly hard to put it in reverse, and sometimes hard to put it in second at high rpm's. It feels like they filled the transmission with water instead of oil. I really don't want to have to Lemon this car.

Sound like marbles in a can?
If so, it's the SDAIS. Common occurance. Search "SDAIS" and "rattle," and pick Zoom44's thread, read the first page and click the link about halfway down.
