Does flywheel and clutch need to be changed in pair???
guys, i did some research in the couple few weeks.
finally, i decided to go with the ACT flywheel, however, the perfomance shop recommands me to get the clutch change in the same time because it will get much improvement than change the flywheel alone.
so what you guys saying??

it doesn't need to be changed at the same time, but it is cheaper to do both at once than to do them at different times. I plan on getting an aftermarket flywheel once I need a new clutch.
so that means you will change both finally and the time is the only difference??
actually i am not planning to get supercharge or turbo in the future.
so is that really need to change the clutch??
what actually do the clutch use for?

ok are you asking what the clutch is used for? if so its whats clamps together with flywheel and causes the engine rotation to link to the transmission. it basically connects engine and tranny. by upgrading you will get a more firm pedal and a much stronger clamping force (more holding power) many clutches in higher stages reduce the amount of slip a more on off engagment. if you don;t plan on making bigger power later than get a stage 1 or oem clutch. but another benefit with some aftermarket clutches is they weigh less. less rotational mass = faster revvving which is the same reason your doing the flywheel. the main reason to do both at the same time is cause you have to disconnect engine and tranny from each other to install either so why not do both together. and hell a clutch is a wear and tear thing so new is always better than current. just remember when you do it to break in clutch properly. ALL clutch companys have a reccomended way of doing it. most just say go easy on it for a few hundred miles
ok i hope that helped

I placed a new aluminum flywheel into my RX-8 when it was brand new ~2000 miles on the car. I did not replace the clutch then, because it was brand new...why waste a good clutch? I figure I will have to replace the clutch soon enough as you would have to with any clutch... and when I do I will upgrade the clutch then. So you can use the OEM clutch with the aluminum flywheel.
Most people tend to change the clutch with the flywheel simply because of the amount of money that is spent on labour when doing work that requires taking down the tranmission...
That labour alone when you have to replace your clutch later in most cases is more expensive then purchasing clutch itself..
