View Full Version : Red Car - Fill in Middle part of hood with black. Cool or dumb?
Imidazole 02-22-2006, 12:17 PM Check the attached photo. I did a quick and somewhat sloppy photoshop. I want something to make my car a bit different than everyone else's... You know, a bit more than the usual 8.
Is this a cool idea, or just plain dumb?
RotaryManiac 02-22-2006, 12:21 PM i dont think it makes it look any better
Michael 02-22-2006, 12:21 PM I dont think it's ugly, but people will criticize you. Make sure you actually like it and aren't just doing something for the hell of it.
8 is enough 02-22-2006, 12:23 PM I do not like it
Glyphon 02-22-2006, 12:28 PM Mine's already like that. course my entire car is black so that's probably why :p:
although i have to say, if you are just doing that, it seems out of place. if it was part of a larger paint design, then i might work, but you'd have to be careful doing that or your car will star in 4F4F :lol2:
BigOLundh 02-22-2006, 12:30 PM I wouldn't do it.
XDEEDUBBX 02-22-2006, 12:48 PM Yucky
8is>enuff 02-22-2006, 12:59 PM Not my style, but if you do go that route there are vinyl inserts for that area.
Let's see.
Hold on...

I have no idea as to the quality of the product. Just showing you it's out there.
zoom44 02-22-2006, 01:26 PM get one of these in carbon fiber when they are done

I agree with this. If it was part of a larger paint design, I can understand, but alone I dont think it would do much.
i dunno........ i think it would look nice if you had black rims and a dark tint, but not if thats the only black color ur gonna have on a VR car........
my .02
tekk's 8 02-22-2006, 02:30 PM I don't like it, but then again, it's your car bro.
bascho 02-22-2006, 02:40 PM I am not sure how I feel about it. It doesn't look bad......but then again, it doesn't look 'wow, that's nice'......it's almost like, 'what's the point.'
XDEEDUBBX 02-22-2006, 02:42 PM It looks the best on black!
Imidazole 02-22-2006, 03:50 PM lol... well, I tried.
RichardK 02-22-2006, 04:47 PM It vaguely reminds me of a shaker hood on a 'cuda.
But, it's not on a 'cuda and it isn't a shaker hood.
Still, I don't hate it.
JRichter 02-22-2006, 05:11 PM Perhaps if it was transparent like on the Kabura...

Zuhalter Vati 02-22-2006, 09:53 PM You should cut it out, and insert a tinted Lexan. Then get a sweet painted engine cover.....
Overall it isn't bad, it would be somewhat unique...but not my style
cstokes24 02-22-2006, 10:02 PM Uhhh...I would go with plain dumb....good idea to ask first...people are brutal around here.
saturn 02-23-2006, 12:20 AM You're definitely going to get criticized for anything you do when it's outside the norm. It's definitely interesting because of the two toned upholstery you have. I would agree with a few others and recommend only doing it if it was part of a bigger theme (i.e. - you painted other parts of the car too). It's your ride, though, and you gotta do what you think works.
It reminds me of the last generation Mustangs (early 2000's). I saw a handful of red ones with black on the hood in front of the scoop. I only ever saw it on the reds for some reason.
4 years to Supercharge 02-23-2006, 01:10 AM Another option would be to just do the one inch strip that goes down around the bubble. :dunno:
NgoRX8 02-23-2006, 01:54 AM i don't like it, but whatever works for you.
yiksing 02-23-2006, 01:55 AM It will look all RICED up...
RX-Aight 02-23-2006, 06:30 AM Yeah, to each his own... and not mine.
L8APEX 02-23-2006, 07:45 AM or go the route of the MS hood that was on the tokyo show cars, and get a CF hood, and paint all but that center part the color of the car. That way the center section has something special about it, rather than just being painted black. That might not look bad, especially if you have any CF anywhere else on the car. Just a thought.
8at18 02-23-2006, 08:03 AM it wouldn't look to bad if you put black accents all around the car in certain places that didn't make it look to over done or anything i don't like how you have it now but i think it could by something pretty original if you get creative with the whole car
Umbra 02-23-2006, 08:07 AM Looks pretty bad, makes it look like your a 17 year old ricer who has no money but is trying to look cool with spinner hubcaps.
