DeeDeej 02-17-2006, 09:53 AM Call me stupid in all this but I am really lost, I read everywhere about the washer fluid trick for the flooded engine...... now this is where im stupid i guess, after you inject the washer fluid, do you unplug anything before you try to crank it? i.e. spark plugs, sensors, etc....
Now to be curious, I am really new as a rx8 owner!!!!!! what is N flash, M flash and all thoses expressions?????
Next question is......... should i just get rid of this car before i get attached??
(btw.. i have automatic)
thank you

strokercharged95gt 02-17-2006, 12:45 PM Do this....
1. Jack up your car (front left)
2. Remove your left tire (loosen bolts prior to jacking)
3. Remove inner well lining (so you can get to spark plugs)
4. Remove 4 plug wires (noting the location of each)
5. Using a socket set with extensions, remove all 4 spark plugs (again remember which is the leading and trailing plug for each rotor)
6. Pull the fuel injector and fuel pump fuse from the fuse box (your manuel will tell you which fuses to pull)
7. Get in car and crank your motor over like 10-20 secs watch the gas eject from the spark plug holes
8. Clean up your plugs, reinstall them, hookup the wires, put back the fuses, put your tire back on, and lower it from the jack.
9. Crank the car over once it starts try to get it to spin around 3k until the smoke shooting out of your exhaust has subsided.
10. Let the car fully warm up before shutting it off this time
11. Done
DeeDeej 02-17-2006, 07:30 PM Is there a trick to unscrewing those damn spark plugs..... they're thight as #@$%...... pardon my language but jesus christ...
dannobre 02-17-2006, 08:28 PM I don't want to be a jerk...but are you turning them the right way...they shouldn't be in there that tight unless they are galled to the rotor housing ( that's bad :( ) Sometimes when your upside down it's easy to get mixed up...turn counter clockwise to remove...
No slight intended...just trying the most likely thing to help :D:
DeeDeej 02-17-2006, 09:19 PM Thats fine *L*
I was once asked if I had gas in the car.... when I said yes, I was asked if I was sure.
The vehicle is an accident repair. it may have been flooded for several months now!
DeeDeej 02-17-2006, 09:22 PM I am turning counter clock!!! they are jammed in there real tight.
as tight as the bolts on the wheels were....... i had to stand on that crow bar?? and jump on it to get the bolts to come off
DeeDeej 02-17-2006, 09:33 PM while I'm looking more than stupid already.... can someone please tell me all the rx8 lingo?!?!?!?!?!
Nflash, Mflash...... I've seen several others!!!!
please and thank you
Georgia8er 02-17-2006, 09:43 PM If you have to put that much pressure on the spark plugs to take them out, you'll most likely strip them and then you will have a VERY expensive problem on your hands. I'd reccomend taking it to someone else.

The letters "M", "N", etc refer to the firmware/software update levels for the PCM (the car computer). If the gas tank recall has been done on the car you should be at the current level. If you want to check that, have a dealer hook up their WDS equipment to read out the software level. See pages 12-13 of the service bulletin at the link below for more information.
BTW, "flash" is a generic term referring to the process of updating a firmware chip in a computer system. For example, you flash the system BIOS when you update it to the latest version.

Blue87Sport 02-18-2006, 10:21 PM A lot of the lingo you see on this forum is explained in the FAQ section

There's also a wealth of how-to information in the DIY section

Good luck with the plugs. Have you tried hitting them with some penetrating oil?
DeeDeej 03-12-2006, 02:12 PM Thank you for all the help with the spark plugs...... car is running good now.
My next problem is my CD player..... I have 6 CD's in it, and now it just wont play, I can't change any of the disc, can't take them out, can't play.... I did read somewhere to let the car warm before trying to play CD, but still no luck!!!!
What do I do to take my cd's out?
rogue2 03-12-2006, 02:46 PM I find that laying on my stomach, pounding my fists and kicking my feet and crying, "Why, why, why?" can be very helpful in this situation.
Seriously though, what happened to your car? Why no warranty?
DeeDeej 03-12-2006, 09:00 PM that didn't help!!!! I already tried that! cd's still will not come out!!!! I can hear something trying to move around in there! but no ejection and no play!!!!
No warranty.... beacuse it was in an accident..... it was a write off, and I bought it and fixed it!
DeeDeej 03-12-2006, 09:01 PM before someone says well maybe that is why the CD isn't playing..... it was playing before! no prob!!! I managed to put 6 cd's in! they all played!
