I hope the Mazda will purchase 8 with the lips as option; for instance, Toyota Corolla S. The Corolla looks like better after install lips. The reason that i always think the front bumper is miss something(lip):)

And then you can install your anti-aerodynamic 'lips' on the front. After most 'ricing' mods, I'll fly by you with my stock 8. irresistibo 09-28-2002, 03:35 AM The RX-8's front end looks fine the way it is. It looks like a blend between German understatement and Italian artistry. Very high tech looking too, if you notice the materials and the various layers of construction. Most front lips/aero kits do for front ends what chrome plated hubcaps do for wheels. Keep it stock for godsake. fuz 09-28-2002, 06:36 AM Lips do have a use. I mean, it makes it a lot easier to tell when you parked too close to the curb. :p Sputnik 09-28-2002, 06:43 AM Originally posted by Brian_RX I hope the Mazda will purchase 8 with the lips as option; for instance, Toyota Corolla S. The reason that i always think the front bumper is miss something(lip):) Well, you have to remember that the Corolla is primarily an econo-box that wasn't designed with too much aero in mind, and the optional lip was a half-assed afterthought. This is the case with a LOT of cars. With the RX8, it was already developed low enough, so there is no immediate need. Of course, with most cars today needing that add-on, the general public considers that "bolt-on" as a necessary item, just like a big-fat aero-innefficient wing. But if you think it looks better, then who am I to argue with that? ---jps Grimace 09-28-2002, 09:53 AM Originally posted by fuz Lips do have a use. What are lips anyways?? wakeech 09-28-2002, 11:44 AM he's talking about a small airdam which would bolt (or screw) aroudn the underside of the front of the car... these devices (air dams, i mean) are used to block air from flowing under the car, thus (as the air expands to fill the volume immediately behind the dam) creating a slight low-pressure area at the front of the car, making a bit of downforce. he likes them 'cause they look good, and well, "look good" these days means "radically unfunctional" most often... now, for me, i do love the look of a nice airdam, or diffuser on the front, even though the df is never used (velocity of the vehicle is too low, and generally not raced around quick road circuits); by nice, i mean something like on the front of Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R... that "lip" at below the intercooler duct with the holes in it... :) |
