so this E39 540i was in an accident. bodyshop repaired it. comes into our shop later for a rattle in the dash. someone finds the dash to be damaged, replaced the entire dash. car comes back again because of water leakage. someone else finds leak and repairs. car comes back one more time because of starting issue. i get the car this time and start it to verify complaint. next thing you know, body harness catches on fire. wtf?? tear the carpet up to find cause...shitload of water underneath carpet from where the bodyshop welded the frame. final result...replace entire body wiring harness. yipee. fucking body shops...

My friend left a pipe in his car when he traded it in once.

That looks like a NIGHTMARE. One of my friends worked at a shop that repaired an Audi RS6 that had spun in the rain over a curb and took out the entire suspension system and the front subframe. It was about 20 hours to do the suspension and front subframe [lots LOTS LOTS of shrouds and clips], but then they found out that some aluminum brace was bent...so they had to take the whole front end apart again. The brace cost $10,000 and was located at an Audi dealership about 10 blocks down. They got the only one in the US at the time.

Then there was this other horror story where this lady's jag got jacked and the person who tore out the radio decided he'd slice up the dash harness...
