CAMS is having a Tech day at the Trussville Mazda today.
I don't own an 8 but me, DON (HDP), and couple of other 7 owners will be there today.

Also, we will be re-organizing the MRCCAL again.. Hope this coming year, we'll have more gatherings (ie, trips to LeMans race in ATL, Races at Barber Track, Deals Gap event, Visit Jim Downing's shop in ATL, etc).Stay tuned for Barber info - last year the GA gang attended the Grand Am Cup race there and met the SpeedSource team. We got discounted tickets and a special car corral parking in a primo spot. I have been in contact with the organizers and we hope to have a similar program. It would be awesome to show up with 20+ cars and root for the rotary powered Grand Am Cup and Rolex GT racers. When I get the deal finalized, I'll post a thread with the details. You will be able to buy tickets online.

The tech day is thru CAMS (Central Alabama Mazda Society). Annual fee is $20, but its well worth it. I was going to go but I was sick with the flu. I think the next gathering is in May?? Best person to contact will be Rotary Taz (Ernie).

Hey Josh! Do you do any watersports at the lakehouse you mentioned, or is it strictly R&R? My husband and I go to his parents lakehouse on Lay Lake. We love to wakeboard, waterski, whatever.

I had a shop do the install. It took about an hour b/c one of the bolts didn't wanna break loose. It's a totally different beast now!! I can't wait for u to hear it!!

No, couldn't have been me. I haven't even had the chance to take the car out of town yet. Plus, the current tag I have on the car is FIREDUP.... Taken off of my 01 Firebird I traded in. I've got another post in the forums asking for ideas for a new one....and plenty have been listed in replies. So far I haven't had a day off in 2 weeks and I know this coming weekend I will be stuck here at work too! Ah, it's not fun to have a new car and can't even get a chance to cruise in it good yet. Probrably the 2nd weekend in April would be good for me, there is about a 90% chance I'll actually have the time off.

I am open the first two weeks in April. The second two weekends I will be at Barber's for the AMA race and the last week I will not be able to get out much due to the Nascar race that weekend. I live three miles from the Superspeedway and it is a NIGHTMARE during race week.

Well guys and gals I will not be able to make it unless something changes betweeen now and then. I ended up having to work this weekend but I am trying to get out of it. I just wanted to let everyone know incase I can't get off work. If not we need to plan another soon! I would like to meet everyone.

I seen a white RX-8 a few days ago on 78 near Eastaboga, I was wondering if anyone knew who it was. There is also a black and a silver one running around my area also I have waved at them and get no response.

If there's not a route already, I ran a short one over the weekend. It was 35-40 minutes, from Grants Mill to Rex Lake passed Barber, through Leeds to Hwy 119 to Lake Purdy, along Secard Hollow Rd (behind Liberty Park) to Hwy 280 for lunch.

If we want something longer, I've had a suggestion of driving Hwy 25 from Leeds to Calera (near 29 Dreams). I yet don't know the time or distance. Has anyone done Hwy 25? It's a popular route with lots of curves.

What say ye on a route? Lunch?

BTW, I passed a blue 8 at I-459 & Grants Mill Rd Monday evening. Was that you L-Co?

Some guys here @ work were telling me about a silver 8 that hit a jeep yesterday over by the summit. They said the car was heavily damaged in the front. Hopefully no one was injured.

Have any of you had any dealings with Med center Mazda's service/ parts dept? How come Trussville Mazda has cheaper parts since they are owned by the same people? Makes no since to me at all and I asked the question last time I was at Med Center and they could not tell me.

I have a guy that works there and he can't get the parts as cheap as they sell from Trussville and he gets them at cost supposedly. Just curious

I bought my 8 from Med Center back in December. So, I've only had one experience with their service (had an oil change in March). No problems. But, I know the Parts Manager, Brian, at Trussville Mazda fairly well. He has gotten me a few parts and has been extremely fair, helpful, and fast. I cant explain the cost difference between the two places, but will ask next time I see Brian. Good question.

I saw a lady driving a gray RX8 this morning at Brookwood hospital. It had a sunroof and she looked like she had dark hair. Unbelievably, she looked at me and I waved. Yay! At least she didnt turn her nose up. Anyone no who she is?

I'm game @ any point during the week. The next few weekends are bad for me.

Sorry L-Co I must have missed you asking that. It would be difficult for me to come over during the week due to the 45 min drive and all the thing I have going on with the kids in the evening time.

I have a suggestion... I have meets every two weeks at a Pizza Place... poeple have been liking the idea since its not every week... that may be a good suggestion...

Last meet there were a total of 34 Rotaries that showed up.

I am hoping to get paddock passes for Barbers. I would LOVE to get a parking pass too. That walk in the hot July sun would be brutal. But the free food and drink in the paddock makes up for it!

Hey everyone...a couple of weeks back i swapped out my oil (royal purple), tranny (redline), and differential (redline) fuilds with synthetic. You can really tell the difference, especially with the tranny fluid swap. The car shifts much smoother...like a hot knife through butter. The engine seems to rev much more smoothly and my gas mileage has increased dramatically. I normally averaged about 220 miles per tank. Now I'm averaging about 270!! I'm really saving on gas, considering I'm driving about 100 miles a day.

I've almost hit 60K miles and the car is performing better than ever!

Also, I've stumbled across 2 quarts of castrol 5w-20 in my garage that I have no use for now so, if anyone's interested, I'm giving them away....free to a good home!!


Now for the good/bad news....I've recently recieved a job offer that I would be stupid to turn down, so I'll be moving to tuscaloosa by the end of the month. Not to worry though...i'll still try to make our future meets.....if we ever decide on a set time and place!

BTW...i just ordered my ms cai yesterday. When it arrives I'll install it and my UR pullies, which have been sitting in my closet for about a year or so. I'll report back on the results ASAP....

What type of synthetic fluid are you using now? That is a big improvement on the gas mileage!!

I'm running royal purple 5W-20 (motor), Redline 75W-90 (differential), & Redline MT-90 (tranny). You'll need 2 quarts for the tranny and diff. I went ahead and bought a case of the royal purple for future use.

Funny thing this morning....I was on Lakeshore, and a policeman pulled up beside me and motioned for me to roll down my window. He said he had a 2004 RX8 and asked if I liked mine. I told him I loved it, but then the light changed before I could say anything else.

Last year, we had 120+ cars signed up but due to the weather condition, we had about 70 showed up (including 5-7 RX8s). Next year, It might be the BIGGEST rotary gathering east of MS. I'm shooting for 200 cars.

LisaWell, the car was right down the hill from you; my wife works (or rather, now worked - her last day was Saturday) at Pearle Vision in the Target shopping center.

We haven't moved yet, but are trying to buy a house here. Made an offer on one, and waiting on a reply. Hope it goes through, because they can be out fast and we can move fast.

So far I have seen no RX8s and very few Mazdas here, and only one MR2. So we'll be kind of unique with each!

I installed my UR pulleys and MS CAI over the weekend @ my dad's shop. Everything went smooth for the most part. Install took about 6 hours total. I was taking my time just to make sure I didn't make any foolish errors.

So far I'm very pleased with the results!

Next date: CAMS Tech Day on the 24th! I'll try to be there between 9 & 12. We missed you Ron, I looked for you. Good luck with the move. We needed your"s to add some balance to the color wheel. Somebody brought too many VRs. ;)

I am going to try to make it to tech day but I don't know what the wife has planned for the weekend.
