I'm looking to get an oil catch can but don't want to spend $100 for the Greddy one. I mean after all its just a metal can. On ebay they have cheaper ones, just wondering if anyone has tried one of them. Are they garbage or just as good as the Greddy. I know the oil line diameter is 15mm for all of the ones I've seen and we need 9mm, but I'm sure I can make it fit. Does the Greddy catch can have any kind of internal baffling or screens to promote oil condensing that the cheap ones don't have?

No. Do a search, plenty of people have one. I got the GReddy one a few months ago for about $80, but have yet to install it. With the GReddy, you can either get 9 or 15mm. Ryan, pm thew, he may be able to hook you up.

My pal had the cusco oil catch can on his s2000. The hose that connected from the engine to his catch cans collapsed and cut thru once. In adddition, it is not easy to drain the catch can especially between track session (If it is full during that period of time). I think u should get the one with the valve can just drain the oil easily

ebay parts and acc. search for rx 8. will yield tons of them. i am tired of looking at them.

I've been using an E-Bay cheapie for a while and it works great.
It isn't a complex device. With the Greddy and HKS, you are paying for the name and, to some degree, the slick look.
Considering that mine is almost completely hidden behind the intake, I opted to save the $50 or so difference.

This is the one I have and it is the same vendor. They shipped it pretty quickly.

I have an ebay one, chrome with Mazdaspeed logo. Looks good and has two sets of inlets. It is not for catching condensation/oil vapors, but oil shooting out of the engine. Happened once to me, so I got the catch can. Did not happen again since, thank God... What a mess that was.... So I don't ever touch it, just check it once in a while to see if any oil got in there. There is no such thing as better ones. If it's sealed and installed correctly, it's as good as it gets. Do block all the scerws on it with paint before installation so you don't lose any from vibrations... The hoses are fine too, reinforced PVC (transparent), it will never collapse or disolve in oil. Will turn yellow in time from the oil vapors travelling through, but that's normal. Mount a T connector between two hoses coming from the engine to the air intake (the third hose comes from the oil fill neck, so it does not have to go through the trap). Plug the unused ports on the air intake.
If anyone gets oil trapped in there, there are some problems you should check for: oil volatility, oil fill level, PCV functioning... Only vapors should go through those tubes - small amount.
