View Full Version : NH RX-8 meet and coastal drive part deux on 3/5/06
my10ae 01-08-2006, 09:11 PM Hey folks!
It has been almost two years since our last NH/ME coastal run and I think its about time we do it again. Picking up where Speed Racer (http:///#) left off, I'd like to get some folks together (weather permitting) on Sunday March 5 to meet at Hampton Beach at 10am and then head up the coast to Old Orchard Beach. It is a nice twisty road that follows the coast and it should be fairly deserted this time of year. :mdrmed:
http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/498000-498999/498315_25_full.jpg
That should give us about an hour long drive up the coast and we can stop at some point to grab lunch. This will also give everyone a chance to hang out with fellow enthusiasts, check out some mods, and get some great photos.
Please reply to this post if your interested in coming to the meet.
Thanks!
P.S. If you own a FRS radio please bring it along as it makes it easier to keep in touch with everyone during the cruise.

I am in. I can't wait for spring. :) I drive that route all the time . Nice twisties.
my10ae 01-08-2006, 09:18 PM Excellent VW, glad you can make it :D
Spin9k 01-08-2006, 09:23 PM Yup, count me in too... I noticed today was 1 sec longer than the shortest day of the year... flowers any day now...
my10ae 01-08-2006, 09:26 PM Spin, also glad you can amke the run. Did you get my PM?
my10ae 01-09-2006, 07:09 AM Mods:
I tried stickying but could not. Could we make this one sticky?
I might be there if 2 things happen.
1) No snow on the ground.
2) I'm not heading to San Diego that weekend.
:)
my10ae 01-09-2006, 08:16 AM Highly doubt there will be no snow on the ground. The run will be cancelled if it is snowing, but not if there is already snow on the ground...
downshift 01-09-2006, 08:40 AM Count me in! :)
I'll probably still be on snow tires, but I might bite the bullet and swap out to summers temporarily just for this.
Tigger 01-09-2006, 10:19 AM Sounds intresting... if I can make it, I'll be there, probably on my snows as well.
nipmuck 01-09-2006, 12:08 PM Sorry guys, but I wont be able to join you this early in the year. The "8" is still put away for the winter, and I hope to wait until all the snow is gone before I wake her up.
However, I would love to join up with you guys durning the summer for another part three.
my10ae 01-09-2006, 12:11 PM Nipmuck:
Not a problem. I understand about putting away the car for the winter. I store my Miata for the winter and use his big brother to braize the winter. :D
I'm sure we'll have lots more get-togethers/tech days/etc this summer. Keep you eyes posted for upcoming events. :mdrmed:
Spin9k 01-10-2006, 08:40 AM I best add here that unless it is clear, dry, and a bit warmer than now, I'll not be able to take my 8 out (that is in storage) either ... as I only have Falken track tires (#) for it. Actually I'll have 2 pairs - including my new 275s by then. Even on cold roads they are pretty slippery, takes a while to warm them up enough to be remotely safe.
That being said, if you don't mind me showing up in my Turbo PT (http:///#) Cruiser :naughty: , with Bling Bling wheels... I'll still be able to join in the fun... maybe even create some as my alter ego vs. those torque-starved NA rotaries :yelrotflm you'll be in heehehheheh...
Feast your eyes :hahano: on these fat asphalt pulling numbers guys:
Engine Size: 2.4 liters
Horsepower: 180 hp @5200 rpm
Torque: 210 ft-lbs. @2800 rpm
Did I mention it was an automatic??? Opps!
Just found out that I will be in Sunny San Diego that weekend for the San Diego National Tour running someone elses car.
I'm out.
rodrigo67 01-10-2006, 04:47 PM I'm still running OEM tires, so if there's snow on the roads, I'm out, but otherwise, this sounds good...

Yea, but whats it get for Gas milage... :D:
Cool-Blue-Dad 01-10-2006, 06:15 PM How late will the cruise run? I'd love to join, but I have to consider that I'd have a 6-hour drive home afterwards. Maybe I can just plan a business trip for Monday, March 6th and expense all the gas. ;)
my10ae 01-10-2006, 06:28 PM Hey Cool-Blue-Dad:
I'm thinking the run, with a lunch stop, should be done around 3pm or 4pm. Plan a business trip and join us! :mdrmed:
Spin9k 01-12-2006, 10:18 AM my10ae asked me to put together a map showing the proposed Spring run. It's just hand drawn, but you get the idea. We're gonna hug the coastline on tiny little back roads, maximizing twists and turns (56 miles going the highway - longer on our planned route)
Now on to the important bits!
As for lunch, if we do start at 10AM, we'll likely be in Old Orchard by 11:30ish. Depending, we could either try finding a decent place to eat in OOB, or zip back via I95 and catch a bite in downtown Portsmouth (Portsmoth Brewery/ Redhook Brewery are favorite spots there).
If we try finding a place in OOB, we could get lucky or not, but most coastal eatery places are closed for the season - therefore we may be out of luck. I have doubts there is anything worthwhile open in March (read: empty winter Maine Touristy Ghost Towns).
Alternatively, after the drive, and zipping back on I95, the two very best seafood places in the winter or anytime for that matter around here are either in Hampton called "The Old Salt' (10 miles south from the Postsmouth traffic circle) or a place in Dover called 'The Fish Shanty' (10 miles north of the I95 Porstmouth traffic circle). They both have great regular food as well for those not seafood inclined.
Ah so! - some 'food' for thought! Opps, after all this writing, gotta go get some munchies now.....:naughty:
my10ae 01-12-2006, 10:53 AM Spin:
Thanks for the overview and mapping of the run coming up in March. :worship:
I guess we could try to find a place in OOB. If not we can take a majority vote and hit what ever restaurant in Portsmouth we want via 95S.
So who else is thinking of tagging along?
Astral 01-12-2006, 11:27 AM I am definitely there!
VOODOO8 01-15-2006, 11:03 AM For now, please count me as a maybe. Bunch of things have to go right for me to hook up but I've got it on my list.
rxgrl 01-20-2006, 09:28 PM i think i may be in, weather dependant.
let me know if there is a hotel that is close to the start...since it is a decient drive from CT
thanks
my10ae 01-20-2006, 09:41 PM Rxgrl:
Being that we are starting in Hampton, NH, there should be plenty of of hotels you could stay at. Not sure exactly what's open during this time of year, but I'm sure we could find you something.
nhguy 01-20-2006, 11:27 PM I hope to attend and meet everyone! :icon_tup:
my10ae 01-21-2006, 03:04 PM I hope to attend and meet everyone! :icon_tup:
Excellent NHguy! I think you are the closest one to me in Goffstown. Glad you can make it.
bd32322 01-22-2006, 01:38 PM Count me in ..
Tigger 01-23-2006, 06:16 PM RXGRL,
If you don't mind the company of a Green 8, I have a full size futon (surprisingly comfortable for a futon) you, and any company you might have along in your 8, are welcome to crash on. I'm about 1hr from where we are starting out. Although I suspect there are a number of other people who might be closer with a bed to offer, can't remember who all you've met on the past runs!

Well, I'll wake up from my winter forum hibernation for a sandwich. :)
Dude, I can't believe after you and I spending the summer walking those PT Cruisers all over NHIS, you went out and bought one! :Eyecrazy: I better not see you at the track with that thing.
Ok, back to sleep. I should be at the run on the 5th. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Maybe you'll see it haulin sum giant R-compounds for my 8 to beat your :sleep:backside around NHIS :lol2:.
RPIRX-8, manage to get in any skiing this year? Except for today I was all set to go back to the track pretty soon ... almost .... it's been so nice...
Aydalh 01-24-2006, 12:29 AM Count me in too, I'm all over new england in OEM tires as well. :D

my10ae 01-24-2006, 09:45 AM Sorry Bodi, I just added you in :)
rxgrl 01-25-2006, 10:13 PM tigger,
sounds like a good idea
we will have to make offical plans when time gets closer :-)
ps. have u heard anything about the 'spring run'?
Aydalh 01-26-2006, 10:06 PM Wow awesome, other CT folks coming as far as NH :)
rxgrl 01-26-2006, 10:21 PM heck ya, i drove with tigger last year ...great lead car driver ;-)
fizzer 01-31-2006, 02:07 PM Count me in. If I get them done in time, it'll be a great chance to feel out my Koni's and autox alignment I should have by then. Got the front Konis for xmas, hoping to get the rears for my bday! If not, sounds like fun anyways :)
Kinda OT, but does anyone have a recommendation for a local shop experianced w/ performance shock/strut and alignment work? I'm just outside of Boston.
my10ae 02-01-2006, 10:39 PM Glad you can make it Fizzer. Let's keep our fingers crossed for nice weather. :lol2:
G-Force 02-05-2006, 10:10 AM Kevin, Happy to see you are setting up another run, Please add me to the attendees, looking forward it.
my10ae 02-05-2006, 10:45 AM Glad you can make it G
Capt_BunnyHead 02-09-2006, 04:50 PM this sounds like a great way to spend a sunday afternoon. It'd be cool to meet some other 8 owners too... seems like there aren't too many of us up here :)
count me in!
my10ae 02-09-2006, 04:53 PM Ey! Ey! Captian! :) Glad yo have you aboard... Eyyyyyyyy Matey!:mdrmed:
Tigger 02-10-2006, 01:23 AM Cool, send me a PM/email, or just give me a call. As for the Spring run, last I checked it was a definate, and that was just a month or so ago... I suspect we will see more details in another month or so! Should be great fun, hopefully the Mini will make it again.
This run is a beautiful run as well, and looks like we might have a decent turn out dispite the early time frame. I'm looking forward to it!

Hey Chris....if the Mini comes, can I come too
(Let's see how good you are at remembering names from last year's run )
Tigger 02-16-2006, 03:59 PM Oh, Boy... tail between legs... Anyone that know's me, know's I don't have a memory and I'm doing well in the morning when I wake up and remember my name... Let's see, St. Mary would seem to suggest a lady... I only remember us having two lady drivers in my group, and I know both of there names... was this a late night drinking thing :-) I may have had 1 or 2 too many cherries ;)

Well in that case... I'm guessing we share a common first name :-) And last year you were playing the part of a passenger, riding along with a beautiful young lady, who was putting all the moves on the twists and turns as you clung to the Oh s*%# bar :)
If my second guess is a bit better, then I hope to see a little American Muscle out to play this year... tagging along somewhere behind that Sunlight Sliver 8 you were in last year! ;)

haha, why thank you for that compliment :-)
if the goat is allowed to come...he should be the tail :-)
Tigger 02-16-2006, 08:26 PM Can't wait to see you both in your 8 on the 3rd, and then curising one behind the other this spring!
The run up the coast this spring is a great run. Even if most of us will have our winter sneakers on :0

Haha, good call man. Wouldn't want to step on any toes though. Already cool that the Miata guys let you join up.....but I'm sure that people might be a little upset seeing me show up
MAZDARATTI 02-23-2006, 06:41 PM I was just wondering if the run was still taking place? If it is I will probubly be there.
my10ae 02-23-2006, 07:01 PM Mazdarati:
Unless there is snow flying or on the ground to make drive a hazard, the run will still be on. Where are you coming from?
Tigger 02-23-2006, 10:52 PM Wow, if my count is correct, including Mazdaratti, we will have 17 cars! That beats the first run! Though considering how new the 8 was at the time... we did pretty well, heck I even remember like 3 of the cars just showed up! That was amazing!
One week to go, what a great run, I can't wait!
Spin9k 02-24-2006, 08:05 AM Hey guys & gals! How time flies THANKFULLY -- did I hear someone mention SPRING - WhooHoo :)
Fingers crossed for continued global warming and a :shocking:REMINDER:shocking: that everyone needs to go get at least one of those $10-$20 2-way radios at Walmart or Radio Shack. We'll sync up channels in North Hampton. Then we can communicate instantly with everyone and with such a lengthy snake of cars - it's about the only way to keep a coherent line, warn of road hazards, and problems with traffic lights, and regulate our passage thru the countryside.
Until the weekend.....
fizzer 02-24-2006, 12:34 PM everyone needs to go get at least one of those $10-$20 2-way radios at Walmart or Radio Shack.
Thanks for the reminder :) I've been meaning to get one for a while, just picked up a two pack at Radio Shack, cuz thats all they had. So, I have a spare if someone wants to claim it to use if you don't have one of your own.
MAZDARATTI 02-25-2006, 11:59 AM MY 10ae I'm comming from Manchester NH. By the way what is the correct type of radio we need to have?
DRKSYDE 02-25-2006, 01:30 PM Hey all,
My name is Ian and I JUST bought my 04' 8 a week ago today. YAHOO! Although I have found out that OEM tires do absolutely NO GOOD in the snow I just ordered Dunlop M3 Sport Winters to hopefully get me through March. They should be here Tuesday and I will have them mounted this week, so maybe I will be able to join you guys!
I am in Lebanon NH and it would be great to get my new baby out and about. As I am writing this the snow is falling quite heavily outside and we already have 3 of the 8 inches weather.com is predicting.
I told all my snowmobile friends... "Don't worry, after I buy my new car you guys will get snow..." Boy I hate being right!
Send me more info on this little cruise!
Lata! Ian
RaizelRotary 02-25-2006, 05:39 PM Me too! Me too!!!
Spin9k 02-25-2006, 05:53 PM anything like these - they can be had everywhere http://www.walmart.com/catalog/search-ng.gsp?search_constraint=0&search_query=two+way+radio&ics=20&ico=0&Continue.x=25&Continue.y=7
my10ae 02-25-2006, 08:09 PM Mazdaratti and Ian:
If you guys want, we can meet somewhere in Manchester on Sunday am and head over to Hampton Beach together. Let me know if you want and we could meet at Hooters in Manchester. It exit 6 off 293. Let me know if that works and we can set a time.
Kevin
DRKSYDE 02-25-2006, 10:17 PM Sounds sweet! I know where Hooters is! Killer Cloverleaf exit if you are southbound like me. LOL I will enjoy that corner... We'll see if my new "high performance" snows can handle it! Just set a time! Let me know exactly what radio I should pick up as well. .
The good news is I just looked at the 10 day outlook on weather.com and they are saying it will be 40 degrees?! Ok so 37 - 39.. but either way.. Outstanding!
Here's the 10 Day outlooks:
Hampton Beach Weather Outlook (http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/outdoors/tenday/NHSPHB:13?locid=NHSPHB:13)
Old Orchard Beach Weather Outlook (http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USME0295?from=36hr_fcst10DayLink_undeclared)
Everyone take it easy on me! This will be my first drive!
PS I have a good buddy of mine in Portland that may be interested in joining but he has a new Nissan Type R Sentra which I hear is pretty badass. Thoughts??
MAZDARATTI 02-26-2006, 10:17 AM Just let me know what time to meet at Hooters.
my10ae 02-26-2006, 10:53 AM I suggest we meet at the Hooters parking lot and then caravan out to the coast. Lets meet at Hooters at 8:15am to leave at 8:30am. That gives us over an hour to get there and then shoot the breeze while folks arrive.
See you next Sunday at Hooters in Manchester
RaizelRotary 02-26-2006, 02:04 PM I'm going to try to come next Sunday. The early weather report looks like clear and sunny, and not much in the way of precip between now and then. Do these things usually start and end on time? Ordinarily, I wouldn't care, but I do have to get myself to work mid-afternoon...
Spin9k 02-26-2006, 02:56 PM I'm not sure what time 'on time is' lol! But as we're planning on lunch in Portsmouth, you should have time afterwards to get back, or just skip lunch if it's too tight, timewise. Hope to see you there:)
MAZDARATTI 02-26-2006, 03:12 PM Sunday at 8:15 sounds good. I just bought my radio. So I'm all set. Does any one know the total of people going yet?
DRKSYDE 02-26-2006, 03:18 PM 8:15 sounds good to me too! I will have to check into getting myself a radio. Where did you get yours?
My wife has to work so I'm trying to find another hot chick to bring! LOL
Yeah weather looks great so far! Hopefully the forcast remains the same or gets better.
I myself am curious about how many people are going as well. What color cars are going to be attending?
I have an 04' Brilliant Black GT 6 Speed. Totally stock. So far! :mdrmed:
See you all soon!
Ian
MAZDARATTI 02-26-2006, 04:23 PM I got my radio at Radio Shack. It was $30. My 8 is yellow. See you Sunday.
nipmuck 02-27-2006, 12:05 PM When I first read about the costal drive back in January, I couldn't image waking up my "8" from it's hibernation, so early in the year. I put her up for the winter, just after Thanksgiving.
However, based on the mild winter, all of the possitive responces, and my iching desire to drive it again, I am seriously thinking of joining up with all of you. Sounds like it could be alot of fun.
So, if you can squeeze in another into the long line, then count me in.
DRKSYDE 02-27-2006, 12:20 PM I think another would be great!
Oh yeah, I wasn't able to find a hot chick that wasn't busy so we all had some eye candy... but you guys can stare at my brother in law if you want! LOL :101384_l:
See you all Sunday!
Kevin, Ratti.... 8:15 sounds good. See ya there!
my10ae 02-27-2006, 12:35 PM Nipmuck:
You are more than welcome to join us this coming Sunday. Where are you at in NH? A few of us are meeting at the Hooters parking lot in Manchester off exit 6 at 8:15am. Let me know if you wanna meet there and we'll wait for you.

Thanks for the offer, but I live in New Durhan. So, I will be couming down NH11 and the Spualding Turnpike from the lakes region.

DRKSYDE 02-27-2006, 02:38 PM WEATHER UPDATE
Just wanted to let you all know that I have been keeping a close eye on the weather and it could be nasty out for those of us traveling from the north...
But Hampton and OOB still look clear and sunny for Sunday!
Krankor 02-27-2006, 03:22 PM Hmmm. 10am is rather early for me to be able to get there, but I'm toying with the notion of coming. If I could but figure out exactly where it is, how to get there, and how long to estimate it taking me, from Stoughton, MA (south suburban Boston).
my10ae 02-27-2006, 03:23 PM Thanks for the update 9K. I will be running winter sneaks anyways. Everyone, please remeber, this is a FUN RUN, not a speed/distance race. Reckless driving and the such will NOT be tolerated. This event was to have fun and meet some 8 folks and check out mods, etc.
With that in mind, come on Sunday! :)
DRKSYDE 02-27-2006, 03:29 PM I will be running my brand new winter sneaks too... Having them mounted Wednesday! I look forward to being able to drive in the white stuff finally. Its no fun when a 1/2" scares the :piss: out of me!
Krankor...
I actually bought my "8" in Brockton and I would estimate no more than 1 hour 45 minutes. It only took me 2 1/2 to get to Brockton and I live way up on I89 10 miles from VT.
Should be smooth sailing for you to go up 95.
I will continue to be the weather man!!
Spin9k 02-27-2006, 03:58 PM Hmmm. 10am is rather early for me to be able to get there, but I'm toying with the notion of coming. If I could but figure out exactly where it is, how to get there, and how long to estimate it taking me, from Stoughton, MA (south suburban (http://www.rx8club.com/#) Boston).Suggest you (or anyone needing directions help) mapquest the drive to:
200 Ocean Blvd
Hampton NH 03842
that's roughly the spot on Hampton Beach (in a public parking area by the beach - refer to the 1st post- there is a map there) where we'll meet up or at least you'll bump into/see some of us in our cars (#) there! Mapquest will give you 'a map', driving (#) directions, and distance and time estimate. I'd guess it may be 1.5 hrs away, but I don't know for sure about traffic..

Mapquest will give you 'a map', driving (#) directions, and distance and time estimate. I'd guess it may be 1.5 hrs away, but I don't know for sure about traffic..
Right on the money, according to Google maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=stoughton,+ma&daddr=200+Ocean+Blvd,++Hampton+NH+03842
my10ae 02-27-2006, 04:21 PM I got my radio at Radio Shack. It was $30. My 8 is yellow. See you Sunday.
So far we are looking at 19 to possibly 20+ 8's. Should be a fun ride. :mdrmed:
Krankor 02-27-2006, 06:02 PM Thanks guys, just the kind of info I was looking for! I'm not a morning person, but I'll see if I can get up early enough to do this...
my10ae 02-27-2006, 09:22 PM I'll put you down as a possible Krankor...
Tigger 02-28-2006, 07:08 PM Looking forward to the run this weekend! Hope the weather is nice, offcourse, nothing would keep me away, not with my studded snows!
And to help out the colors... I'll be the token Green 8, as always... someday maybe another Green will show up to joing me... Last one I saw standing still was in Boston, I ran over to say high to the driver only to find out he was simply vallet parking the car :(
But I know where out there!
--Tig!
Tigger 02-28-2006, 07:17 PM OH, and FRS radio's! For those looking to pick one up, you can get them most any where, from Walmart, to Radio Shack, to Best Buy, Staples, and Circuit City...
Note: You get what you pay for... but if your only planning on listening in on the chatter most any will do. The better ones are a bit clearer and definatly sound better to others when you talk into them... of course the way you speak into the radio, and how far you hold it from your mouth can make the diffrence between clear English and distorted garble.
If you have questions on how to use the radio, just ask someone there and they can give you pointers... really they work best if you hold them 8-12 inches from your mouth and talk normally... for some reason people assume you need to eat the radio when talking into them... which is sure to generate a lot of "what did you say???" as everyone hears distorted screaches and the like.
Oh, and make sure your radio is fully charged, or has new batteries! They really make a diffrence, particularly at the end of the day when they have been working hard all morning and accidently left on through out lunch ;)
DRKSYDE 02-28-2006, 08:16 PM Hey I have a couple Motorola Talk-abouts... Will these work?
my10ae 02-28-2006, 08:18 PM 9K:
Yup those Motorola's should do the trick...
DRKSYDE 02-28-2006, 09:10 PM Great Thanks!
mlaird 03-01-2006, 10:44 AM Someday can you guys organize a drive like this on a Saturday instead of Sunday? I'm always busy at my church on Sundays, so I won't be able to make this drive. It sure sounds like fun; please take some pictures for those of us who can't make it.
Michael
my10ae 03-01-2006, 03:37 PM Michael:
I'd love for someone to take the reins and oragnize some runs on Sat. I started this run on a Sunday as I am also the President of a lcoal Miata Club, and all our events happen on Sat also.
With the winter hopefully going away in the next few months, I will not have weekend time to do anything other than Miata events, so this is why I wanted to get this run in for the time being.
Kevin

Tigger 03-01-2006, 05:23 PM Hey Michael,
Sorry you can't make this run... it is a great drive and it looks like there will be a lot of 8's in attendance!
If Sundays are a problem, have you considered the Spring Run? If your interested, post up on:
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=82865
or send me a PM and I can get you details. It will be a Saturday run, though most of us will probably spend Friday and Saturday night as well.

DRKSYDE 03-01-2006, 11:33 PM Hey all! Its your local weather man!
Just letting all now that weather is still looking great for the drive! Can't wait!
Peace, Love and Wenkels!
my10ae 03-02-2006, 05:54 PM WEATHER UPDATE:
As it looks like some folks in Mass are getting snow right now, us folks in NH are getting nothing :) Forecast for Sunday: Sunny and 38. That works for me! :biggthump
RaizelRotary 03-02-2006, 11:17 PM Is anyone else coming down from the Portland area or north? How about we meet in the parking lot at Exit 42 (old Exit 6) of I-95 in Scarborough at 8:30 AM and go down together?
DRKSYDE 03-03-2006, 12:46 AM Who Dat?
Saw someone in a RED "8" this morning, headed North on I-91 in Vermont. Anyone on here?!
I was driving my company car South.... (04' Scion Xb Black, lowered and 18" TRD Wheels)
1.5 gerbils and a rubber band under the hood... LOL
my10ae 03-03-2006, 06:58 AM RaizelRotary:
Shall I put you down to attend?
9K:
Sweet company ride :ylsuper:
my10ae 03-03-2006, 09:15 AM Hey folks:
I just came up with any idea and would like people's thoughts...
I'll bring my laptop and setup an Excel SS to gather people's names (real), forum names, email addresses, yr/color of their 8's and any mods. I would compile this info and pass it along to all who wanted a copy. This by no means is a requirement, just through it may be a good idea.
What do folks think? Like I mentioned this is 100% voluntary. I just thought it would be a good tool to get to know the folks you meet Sunday and continue to keep in contact with them.
Spin9k 03-03-2006, 09:26 AM At My10ae's request, I'm bringing route maps and lunch direction maps for everyone (made 23).... Not that anyone will get lost, but just in case someone gets sidetracked... or needs to escape in the middle of it.
... almost :mdrmed: time to wake my 8 from it's winter slumber and let it stretch it's legs...yawnnn
..til Sunday
my10ae 03-03-2006, 09:29 AM Thanks Spin, its much appreciated.
I gotta vaccuum out my 8 tonite and give her a good bath, she just grimy from the winter weather.
Here's to Sunday :D:
RaizelRotary 03-03-2006, 10:53 AM Yes -- I am planning to be at the meet. I'll have to bail at Old Orchard Beach, because I have to go back to work near Portland.
I think the list idea is great.
DRKSYDE 03-03-2006, 12:01 PM The list idea is great! I plan on doing the same spring cleaning on mine tomorrow as well even though I know by the end of the drive it will be covered with salt dust! GRRRRR gotta love black cars and New England! Well Maybe...lol
Can't wait till Sunday!
my10ae 03-03-2006, 05:34 PM The list idea is great! I plan on doing the same spring cleaning on mine tomorrow as well even though I know by the end of the drive it will be covered with salt dust! GRRRRR gotta love black cars and New England! Well Maybe...lol
Can't wait till Sunday!
Yeah the color black sucks on a car when dirty, but when clean it looks like a million bucks! I know the feeling, got me an 04 BB GT myself :D
my10ae 03-03-2006, 05:38 PM Also folks, don't forget to bring your camera's, digi camera's, video camera's, digi video camera's and FRS radio's :)
Astral 03-03-2006, 08:29 PM I am getting up early tomorrow and driving to Ayer to buy me some QEW, then I am washing my car, and maybe I'll polish the exhaust tips.. although not sure...
my10ae 03-03-2006, 10:00 PM Those folks who are coming Sunday are in for a surprise. That's all I'm gonna say about that.. Man that sounds so "Forest Gumpish".. :D
DRKSYDE 03-04-2006, 07:52 PM SO whats the final count for tomorrow? :us4allswi
my10ae 03-04-2006, 08:33 PM I think we are looking at 20 8's tomorrow, not sure as to the total number of folks. I'm off to gas up the 8 and give her a quick wash.
See everyone in the am!
RaizelRotary 03-05-2006, 01:59 PM The run this morning was fun -- even though I had to split early to head to work. The sound of 20 8's revving around the twisties was just awesome! Even though it was a bit chilly, I kept the window open so I could enjoy!
It's time to start planning the next gathering and I have a suggestion: let's get together somewhere near Portsmouth or Kittery and head up to Scarborough -- and go play at www.maineindoorkarting.com! The owner is an RX7 guy, and I'm sure we could make arrangements for a special play date! Also, if we do this before the tourist season, motels in the area are less expensive.
So -- does this sound appealing? I don't know how to post it as a new discussion thread, so I leave it to more experienced folks. I'll be happy to assist with the arrangements. Also, someone will have to suggest a date... I vote for a Saturday!
Let's here from lots of people!
Spin9k 03-05-2006, 05:13 PM Hey I think I've seen more RX-8s today than I ever have in the last ~2 years! Great turnout...lots of fun... 20 something 8s all in a row:Eyecrazy:... very very nice looking ...esp the yellow..can't say I've ever seen a yellow and it was sweet! Sorry we didn't get to go a bit faster on those twisty bits, but you know how Sunday drivers and cops are about that.
Til next time..where ever that may be ...karting...tracking...riding...eating
Thanks to all who made it ... and made it a great day to be out and about :ylsuper:
Astral 03-05-2006, 06:01 PM Yup! It was fun and it was nice meeting everyone! Thanks again Spin9k for the demo!
I will sort through and post the pics up in a few days, probably won't have time till Wednesday.
fizzer 03-05-2006, 06:40 PM Hey everyone, had a great time today! The scenery was great, but of course I can't wait for the more performance oriented runs
I think the karting idea is awesome. I've been doing a lot of that reecently at racing america - www.racingamerica.com. Its a ton of fun, so i'm all for it. Those karts handle almost as well as an 8 ;)
Forgot to mention, thanks a bunch to my10ae for setting everything up and the mazda swag :)
bd32322 03-05-2006, 06:51 PM Awesome to see so many rx-8s along those roads ..
here are my pics ..
Bodi
It was nice to see all the eight's that showed up. Sorry we had to leave early, but we are heading to PA. can't wait to see all the picture's.
Aydalh 03-05-2006, 07:55 PM Had a blast, folks. Came out with a dizzy head after all the twisties but definitely with a long wishlist:
- Borla exhaust - seen on "black and tan"
- Sway & strut bars - seen on spin9k's beast of a car
- Some sort of kickass audio system - seen on Astral's car after we had to pretend we found the "dude on the boards who wanted to check out" his audio system
- Front splash guards - they look great, but I also have to look into that matching front sideskirt idea (I have the stock skirts on the back)
- "Flood Mazda" logo and license plate - seen on Bodi's VR
^---- I nominate this mod for the best-of-show award :Eyecrazy:
Will post pics when I'm done with all this work crap.
Spin9k 03-05-2006, 09:06 PM Here are a couple snaps from the camcorder footage...kudos to my10ae for organizing this affair  and the amazing number of attendees...too many fit into a single picture :jump: !
my10ae 03-05-2006, 09:46 PM Hey Folks:
Outstanding turnout today! :) I first want to thank Spin 9K for putting together and printing off the colored maps and for leading this huge motley crew :) I also want to thank Mazda North American Operations for the cool RX-8 models and Zoom-Zoom keychains. I hope everyone liked the little surprise :)
I'll post up some pics tomorrow!
Tigger 03-05-2006, 09:51 PM We had an awesome time! Can't wait to do it again!
VOODOO8 03-05-2006, 10:31 PM Kudos to all!!! I know this stuff takes work to pull off and I think it was a Grand Day!!! Looking forward to the next run...
DRKSYDE 03-05-2006, 11:16 PM Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for having organized this run.
Certainly as the newest owner of an 8 in the group at 2 weeks, I wanna thank everyone for the warm welcoming to the group!
Had a close call on the way back home with TWO other cars trying to turn into the same lane on me at 85mph! One from the left and one from the right. We talk about the blind spots in our cars...GEEZ! :scared: I think these two drivers were all stars at the Performance Driving School for the Blind..... Thanks to the phenomenal braking ability of the 8 I was able to avoid any contact with these two morons but it was certainly only inches away.:cussing:
I saw some mods that I liked and talked to a lot of great people and can't wait to do another one! I will definitely be attending the Spring Run in June...
Spin and Kevin, great run!
Thanks again to all!
DRKSYDE 03-05-2006, 11:20 PM P.S. Yes everyone I will get my tail light replaced ASAP! LOL
Aydalh 03-05-2006, 11:58 PM This is one of the lights where we all made it through even though it was a left turn and like 20 of us going in :) And that's a lot of food signs...
Aydalh 03-06-2006, 12:01 AM Good panoramic shot... spin checking out my nonexistant front license plate :)
Aydalh 03-06-2006, 12:06 AM My personal favorite... outstanding regional marketing :)
midlifer 03-06-2006, 07:05 AM Looks like a great time. Wish I could have made it but the 8 is still in storage. Next time though for sure.
Bob

10kRPMS 03-06-2006, 04:48 PM Hey the first and last pic above has that good looking guy from all the videos, but that ain't me, good :mdrmed: looking dude though!!!
rodrigo67 03-06-2006, 04:52 PM Had a great time. It was good to put some faces to these web names. We have to do this again...when it get warmer...
I want to thank Kevin and mazda for the nice BLACK rx8's and keychains.
I have a few pics, but it's pretty much the same as every one else had.
and to captain bunnyhead ( or anyone else who's interested), I'll post the third brake light decals. They are the perfect size when printed from adobe photoshop, but you might have to play with the size from another program.
...take care all and see most of you at the Vermont springrun...
downshift 03-06-2006, 07:37 PM It's great seeing new faces and thanks go to my10ae, tigger and spin9k for keeping the convoy together. A 20-car convoy is quite tough to keep together through small towns with 3/4-way stop signs :).

Damn! Are you a pro photographer or something? These all look amazing, especially the ones with the silver car in them. :cwm27:
Krankor 03-08-2006, 03:13 AM My thanks also to all who made this fun event go. It was nice meeting everyone.
My vote for best mod remains the hula dancer in the back window, pity my feeble memory can't remember whose it was.
And regarding my10ae's 13.jpg: I ended up having dinner at Warren's Lobster House that night. :) Yum!
10kRPMS 03-08-2006, 04:48 PM Thanks to everyone for a great day, the kids had a blast
fizzer 03-09-2006, 09:18 AM My vote for best mod remains the hula dancer in the back window, pity my feeble memory can't remember whose it was.
Lol, yeah, that gets my vote too. I got to follow behind it for a while, a little distracting, but a nice touch ;)
Krankor 03-09-2006, 04:31 PM Yeah, you have to have followed behind it to truly appreciate it. :)
downshift 03-10-2006, 08:31 AM Damn! Are you a pro photographer or something? These all look amazing, especially the ones with the silver car in them. :cwm27:
Nah, I'm no pro but glad you liked how your car's pic came out. :)
Spin9k 03-10-2006, 09:02 AM I agree, you certainly have the eye for composing pics.... I know...we'll nominate you to be official cub photog for any meets downshift :)!
MAZDARATTI 03-10-2006, 09:34 PM I'd like to say it was nice to meet every one. I had a great time. I'll probubly see some of you again on the VT. run. I'd like to thank spin9k for the compliment on my ray of sunshine.
