View Full Version : Texas Rx's meet in Austin on 8/6 xulong 08-01-2003, 10:43 PM http://www.texasrxs.com/ It's at the Rudy's on 183N. map (http://members.fortunecity.com/austinvw/meetings/maps.html) eccles 08-02-2003, 01:09 AM Yeah, I'll probably be there. Trying to find out what time thay start their meeting, and if they still meet at Rudy's - their web site is way out of date. xulong 08-02-2003, 01:41 AM I'd love to see/ride in your rx-8! r0gu3 08-02-2003, 02:39 AM I'd like to go but the FD is down and the FE isn't in yet!!!!! ;) Boozehound 08-02-2003, 08:36 AM You guys are meeting on a Wed? Doh. Looks like no Rudy's for me. r0gu3 08-02-2003, 01:56 PM They always meet on a wednesday. ;) MrWigggles 08-02-2003, 02:24 PM Originally posted by r0gu3 They always meet on a wednesday. ;) Then their "Texas RX' meets" will always be "Austin RX' meets" -Mr. Wigggles DrKillJoY 08-04-2003, 09:35 AM note ** TEXASRXS is the name of the local Austin area club. see also : www.dfw-rx7.com - Dallas / Fort Worth www.houstonrx7club.com - Houston area Currently there is no San Antonio club, most of the real club types hang with the Austin group. MaRX8 08-04-2003, 11:39 AM Well, I found this information on the website. I'll try and be there. But should we decide on a time, or use what's listed below? (When: We meet the first Wednesday of each month. Everyone starts gathering around 7:30pm with very informal meeting at around 8:30. During the summer months we try and meet a little earlier to take advantage of the extended daylight hours. This is a great time for pictures and to really see the stories we tell. Where: Rudy's BBQ located on 183. Be sure and look for the reserved parking spaces for the club (non-members too!) They are marked with the traffic cones. Someone is usually there a bit early to direct parking (be sure and thank them as it is typically a club member, its a great way to get to know the other club members). What: Eat BBQ and chat about our cars. There is no formal format. Who: All Mazda RX owners. There have been a few notable Miata converts but so far no one has held that against them. Dues: As of April 2001 we have started collecting annual dues. The dues were set by a vote of founding members. Individual memberships are $30.00 and Family Memberships are $40.00.) DrKillJoY 08-04-2003, 11:44 AM you guys might want to cross-post with the RX-7club SOUTH forum, to see about turnout../ www.rx7club.com : then go to the South Forum. enjoy. r0gu3 08-04-2003, 12:12 PM Yup, San Antonio people just make the drive up because we don't like getting together down here for some reason. twifosp 08-05-2003, 05:07 PM I'll probably be out there tomorrow evening. I hope to see some 8's! eccles 08-05-2003, 06:21 PM Originally posted by twifosp I'll probably be out there tomorrow evening. I hope to see some 8's! The Blue Toy and I will be there. I was going to be attending a Tejas Miata Club function, but the RX's won out. :) r0gu3 08-06-2003, 03:00 AM I wish I could come up there in a rotary powered vehicle. :( TomsterRX8 08-06-2003, 01:33 PM I think I'll be there.........was hoping to have my side strakes in by now but has not arrived. I'm hoping to NOT get a bunch of ideas on how I can turn this into a screamer! THe last thing I need to do is drop another 20 grand into performance parts. twifosp 08-06-2003, 09:40 PM Wow! GREAT turnout this evening! All in all we had about TEN rx8s show up. Woohoo! Plus twice as many rx7's. All in all one of the larger RX meets at Rudys in a long time. Kick ass showing 8's! I'm glad to see all you guys out there! MaRX8 08-06-2003, 10:02 PM It was awesome meeting everyone tonight, certianly a great turn out, and WOW some of the most beautiful & powerful RX-7's I've ever seen. There was even a 3 rotor RX-7. Awesome... But it was also cool seeing all the RX-8's also. Roger Beasly South even had one for test drives. "Smooth Marketing there" Every color RX-8 was represented, except Green and of course no white. I took some photo's so I'll try and post them up tomorrow... xulong 08-06-2003, 10:56 PM FYI - Mazda South service writers aren't that smart. I asked about 120k service. All I needed was a tire rotate and oil change according to them. Riiiight. Mazda North has more knowledgeable people, slightly. But I'd still just take my car to North Park Mazda in San Antonio if I needed any real work done to it. twifosp 08-07-2003, 08:17 AM Originally posted by xulong FYI - Mazda South service writers aren't that smart. But I'd still just take my car to North Park Mazda in San Antonio if I needed any real work done to it. That'd be a first. In the rotary history mazda south has always been the better dealer. No right-minded rx7 owner would ever take their car to mazda north :) Then again, I'd still try and avoid all dealer contact if I could.... rotaries and dealers don't mix! :) MaRX8 08-07-2003, 12:21 PM I posted some pictures of the Meetingn, feel free to add your own if you've got them.
