View Full Version : Grey Wheels for Titanium GT
mdmaclean 08-01-2003, 08:52 AM I am considering grey/black wheels for my Ti GT, and then use the stock wheels for Blizzak LM-22 snow tires.
Any opinions on what wheels would:
1) look great
2) not be too expensive
3) be light weight
4) be 18", same size as current stock wheels
BOOSTD 7 08-01-2003, 09:00 AM What's your idea of not to expensive? Give me a budget you're looking toward. Do you want a 2 piece or 3 piece rim? Or does that matter to you? Do you like something with a lip, or the spokes flush?
Give me some idea of what you're looking for, and I can give you ideas.
mdmaclean 08-01-2003, 09:27 AM I was thinking $1000-1500 for rims.
For the rest of your appearance questions, I was looking for opinions from you (since I don't even have my car yet)!

BOOSTD 7 08-01-2003, 11:10 AM Are you wanting the rims to be the same as stock size so you can put the factory tires on them? Stock, they're 18x8 ... how about getting some 18x8.5 or 18x9 rims. The stock tires would still fit just fine, and then when they're gone you could step up to a wider tire like a 245. That's what I'd reccomend. For that price, it's going to be tough finding something quality around $1000 in an 18" rim ... for $1500 you will have quite a few more choices. Here are some ideas:
Konig Imagine, around $900 a set

Konig Imagine in gunmetal

Fondmetal 6900, around $1000 a set

Privat Fahren, around $1000 a set

Enkei RPM2 in Hyper Black, a great choice if you ask me, around $1100 a set

ADR M-Sport in HMC Chrome, about $1200 a set
http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/ADR/msportchch.gif
ADR Kasai (also have HMC Chrome for about $250 more), around $1000 a sethttp://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/ADR/kasai.gif
ADR M-Classic, about $1000 a set
http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/ADR/mclassic.gif
These are all lower end wheels, except for the Enkei's. I'll post another one in a minute with more bling ... higher quality rims.
mdmaclean 08-06-2003, 10:04 PM I have been looking at some Canadian web sites to get an idea of price here.
I am not very knowledgable about the quality of various wheels, so I would like to pick 3 to get comments on. I definitely would need to know if these would fit, and does the price make a difference between these. I don' really know why you feel the ENKEI RPM2 are not lower end wheels and your other example are.

You willing to shell out the cash for a totally custom, forged 2 piece or 3 piece rim? If so, I can give you some much sexier suggestions :D

FritzMan 08-08-2003, 11:30 AM mdmaclean - had I gone with a Ti RX-8 I would have had the stock rims powder coated. Check out RLD Industries on Albion Rd they do a lot of excellent work and have a broad range of colors. Also, FYI they offer ceramic coating which I had done on my FD several years ago.

I am just thinking that I want two sets of wheels, one for summer, and one for winter. I had two sets of alloys for my BMW, and I liked that it looked nice all year round.
That is why I am looking to buy a second set, and not just change the colour of the stock ones. Thanks for the suggestion though!
md, wait a few days you should see how your car looks with gunmetal rims. Mine are starting to turn that colour from the brake dust.
I'm getting steelies for the winter, I can't afford another set of rims. I might get hubcaps though :D
mdmaclean 08-11-2003, 11:41 PM I found these wheels on Tires.com at a reasonable price. I am kind of down to these or the Tantrum, which would probably be best for winter driving, and are cheap in case one gets damaged.
Is Konig a good brand for wheels?
Konig Theory

Is that USD or Cdn? I found a bunch of nicely priced rims on a few sites like 1010tires.com and tirerack.com that are fairly inexpensive. Although I have been looking at 17" rims for winter only.
I have found some as low as $169 cdn.
Mike, you coming to the Tuesday night cruise tonight?

sun stroke 08-12-2003, 03:27 PM Has any of you put aftermarket wheels on your 8 yet?
I am curious as to what you did with the tire pressure sensor, there has been a lot of dialogue saying that it won't work with most of what is out there.
I spoke to the guys at yaw power since they plan on building 3 piece wheels specifically for the 8. I was told they will probably do a race version and a street version for people who want to keep the pressure sensor.
It would be nice to know what options have already been discovered?
hoffa 08-14-2003, 11:45 PM there is a great wheel/audio store in laredo, texas they have awesome deals check it out (956)722-3102
