XDEEDUBBX 12-07-2005, 03:28 PM nice! hows reliability?
Have you guys taken it to the track yet? Any times?
His times were posted on RX8PR's thread. 1/4 mile in 10.4. 650+ horsepower daily driven.
Mugatu 12-07-2005, 03:44 PM holy cow - that's awesome!
Xyntax 12-07-2005, 03:45 PM ^ I wonder if he has traction problems with that much power on an RX-8...
Sapphonica 12-07-2005, 04:00 PM Drool
rgonza 12-07-2005, 04:20 PM This car is a daily drive machine runs on 93 octane fuel. with air conditioner, power steering
everithing like a stock , For traction i run on toyo Proses TR1 as soon the turbo reach 5 psi of boost it start to smoke them with out minor effort, in the track trim we use a 10" Slick in a 15" rims.
Regards
Rgonza
OneEvilRx8 12-07-2005, 04:32 PM how much did that project cost you, and how long it took from start to finish......
Did you loose TCS / DSC / ABS? What transmission? What engine management?
NgoRX8 12-07-2005, 04:44 PM Damn sweet. Again I'd like to know the answers to all these questions. :)
Raptor2k 12-07-2005, 04:53 PM His times were posted on RX8PR's thread. 1/4 mile in 10.4. 650+ horsepower daily driven.
:hitit:
rgonza 12-07-2005, 05:15 PM The cost Of total from scratch to end is around $7500.00 and project time was 3 mounth, The car have intac TCS/DCS/ABS aND HAVE THEIR TRAMSMISSION WITH FEWS UPGRADE TO MANAGE THIS KIND OF POWER HARDENED STEEL INPUT SHAFT HEAVY DUTY BEARINGS. THE REMAIN ITS COMPUTER WHY? BECAUSE THE CAR NEEDS THE IMPUTS FROM CRANKSHAFT TO OPERATE POWER STEERING, AND USE CAN BUS NETWORK TO COMUNITATE WITH THE GAGES CLUSTER TCS, ABS,DSC AND OTHER SUCH OIL PRESURE, WATER TEMP,AND A/C.
WE USE A MICROTECH LTX12'S JUST TO CONTROL THE ENGINE AND BOOST, THE STILL OPERATE BY OWN COMPUTER.
REGARDS
RGONZA
epitrochoid 12-07-2005, 05:31 PM wait did you use the 20b's native transmission or the oem rx-8 6 speed?
i haven't heard of any beefier rx-8 transmission parts on the market
Moostafa29 12-07-2005, 05:49 PM So you're using a Microtech also? Nice, that seems to be a popular ems.
rgonza 12-07-2005, 05:53 PM I USE THE RX8 6 SPEED, WE UPGRADED INPUT SHAFT AND BEARINGS, tHE iNPUT SHAFT YOU CAN SEND THE OLD ONE TO MACHINE SHOP AND THEIR CAN FABRICATE ONE TO YOUR SPECS. THE YOU CAN FIND IN YOUR LOCAL INDUSTRIAL BEARINGS SUPPLY, WE SELECT A DUAL ROLLER SEFT LINING BEARING IT MORE STRONGER AND CAN HANDLE MORE RPM AND LOAD. wE PROVE THIS TRANSMMISSION AND IT IS DURABLE WITH THE EXEPTION OF THE SECOND SINCRONIZER AND 2 GEAR CROWN. MAYBE YOU NOT HAVE PROBLEM BUT ALL DEPENT OF THE DRIVER SKILLS.
rgonza 12-07-2005, 06:02 PM The 20 B 3 Rotor Engine Not Come With Manual Tranny It's Come Only With Automatic Tranny, You Will Need To Order A Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel From Rx7 Of 1990 And Use The Clutch Assy. From Turbo Ii 240 Mm. That's Directly To Rx8 6 Speed Tranny Without Any Modifications, The Only Concern You Will Need To Use A 6 Spuck Sintered Iron Clutch Disc And High Performance Pressure Cover From Act. Why? Because The With Mere 6 Psi Of Boost It Fry The Organic's Disc One.
Nemesis8 12-07-2005, 06:07 PM Is everyone taking notes:
wE PROVE THIS TRANSMMISSION AND IT IS DURABLE WITH THE EXEPTION OF THE SECOND SINCRONIZER AND 2 GEAR CROWN (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=72972).
That sounds like a quite impressive setup. Do you have a dyno plot? Is the stock RX-8 LSD retained and hardened as well, or did you use an aftermarket unit? Did you encounter engine-mount problems? Weight gain from the 20b+ turbo? Are you using variable-split timing?
RX8PR 12-07-2005, 06:22 PM Rgonza,
It's Manuel,
Don't forget to call me before friday..................to talk about the labels machine.
All of the members of this forum are great Rx8 fans, and they would ask you a LOT of questions!
Some times they would ask you for proves.......................
Rgonza do it by himself, the manifold and a lot of others parts for the convertion to a 3 rotor......so he saved a lot of money!
I already get a ride on his car and is really fast!
Manuel
TeamRX8 12-07-2005, 06:24 PM I don't need to take notes ....
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=72972
Nemesis8 12-07-2005, 06:26 PM I helped him resize a couple of pics :) I had to drop them down to 1024 and lower the JPG resolution to get under the 200KB limit. The originals are 2080x1544.
epitrochoid 12-07-2005, 06:43 PM i've never enjoy reading broken english so much lol
but seriously, you guys have some serious juevos down there in PR. people in the states would talk all day about how they could do this or that to make half the HP you do and make a huge deal of it on the internet. you just show up one day with the fastest rx8 in street trim in the world.
im interested in some more details on the rest of the driveline, namely the driveshaft, LSD, and half shafts. also why kind of modifications were required to the front subframe and the chassis to fit the 20b in place?
RX8PR 12-07-2005, 07:42 PM Don't feel bad but is huevos, no juevos.
I believe that it would be worse if we write in Spanish and all the members try to understand or write in spanish!. In PR we speak english a lot better, write it is more difficult................
What is important that we can communicate and understand.
Manuel
epitrochoid 12-07-2005, 10:42 PM don't worry, 3 rotor is the same in any language
i was in PR last august for the first time. beautiful country with plenty of beautiful women around!
Greddyturbo1 12-07-2005, 11:24 PM Rgonza, sounds great. any videos.. I would love to know in detail how you did this all.
would like to hear what that sounds and looks like taking off.. Congrats, This is something
I would be interested in doing to my car. Let us know much more...Thanks
I simply cannot believe a Car that looks THAT GOOD has THAT Much Power...I'm SO Happy to see somebody do a huge project like this, and NOT destroy the car in the process. I'm thinking I'll start saving $...ship me and my car to PR for a couple months, and come back with an additional rotor. :D
AMAZING work...Have any dyno plots, etc, you can show?
Sapphonica 12-08-2005, 12:03 PM If you could make this into a kit, you would have a long line of customers.
rotary crazy 12-08-2005, 12:15 PM you puertoricans are amazing when it comes to rotary cars, this right here is the rx-8 mazda should make as the mazdaspeed RX-8 even if they make it NA.
RotaryRider36 12-08-2005, 12:21 PM hmmm....all i can say is.....DAMMMN. and it only cost you 7500 dollars? I cant understand this. Props to you guys. Thats amazing
rx8wannahave 12-08-2005, 12:40 PM All I can say is...
Coñooooooooooooo!
I can speak Spansih but if I write in it the hispanic people here will always have something to make them laugh here at the rx8club. :)
If I ever go to PR, and I probably will one day since my wife is from PR, I'm going to take a camera to take a video of that MONSTER.
Ohhh mama, by the way how much power do you think it makes without the Turbo? If it cost $7,500 with a turbo how much would it cost without it? While I love power, I really don't need 650HP so I wonder how much power the 3-rotor can make without the turbo.
Great job and thanks for sharing, MY LORD...650HP of rotary heaven.... :evil_laug :icon_droo
RX8PR 12-08-2005, 04:30 PM The $7,500.00 is basically on parts...............
Rgonza do it this job by himself.
He have on his house a lot of tools and machines
and maked the fuels rail, the manifold, etc, etc. and saved a lot of money...........
He knows a lot about rotaries and this RX8 is his street car he also owns a drag car!
Manuel
Sephiroth 12-08-2005, 06:03 PM holy macro, thats incredible! Congrats and good work there!
    :score: :UNCLESAM: :dragster: :smileysex
rob3379 12-08-2005, 09:36 PM Man we got to get some write ups from this setup. These type of projects is what will make this car stand out as a big contender. Good job Bro!!
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 02:34 PM Rgonza was working with me on my warehouse/office today..............
We decide to take a few videos of the car but I need a site to publish them.
The files are between 3.0 and 4.5 MB each one..............
Adrian1 let me know if we can publish them on the same site that we publish my videos.
You would hear the puertorican magic!
Manuel
gh0st 12-09-2005, 02:53 PM SOMEONE HOST THESE DAMN VIDEOS!!!!!!!

Manuel, if I remember correctly, the ones you had before were on streetfire. Are you able to put them on there?
:( That means I can't see them until I get home from work tonite :(
:)
Moostafa29 12-09-2005, 03:46 PM ^ That IF you put it on right now. Otherwise its another 6 hours from when it is first uploaded.
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 04:40 PM I would prefer to post them in other place than streetfire because
the other ones that I post over there was very difficult to see them.
Let me know any site where I can post them..................
or any one that give me his email to post them on his site.
Manuel
Nemesis8 12-09-2005, 04:49 PM Check your PM's Manuel... :)
I can host them for you tonite, if you still need. Can you transfer the vids via AIM, etc?
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 04:56 PM I can send them to your email...........
Manuel
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 05:05 PM I feel that everyone is crazy to see the videos! :Freak_ani
be patient!
I'm sending them rigth now to nemesis.............
I would send two files of 3MB............it would take sometime beacuse I don't have DSL on my house.
On the second video when you hear Robert say something in spanish "cien millas"
that means,
one houndred miles.......... :evil_laug
Manuel
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 05:45 PM I finished to send the emails to Nemesis8......................

Enjoy the Puertorican rotary passion!
Manuel
hondasr4kids 12-09-2005, 06:49 PM Como hecho de menos la isla!!!
I need a shopping list from you. I been thinking about this for a long time. But I had trouble figuring out the wiring.
How is the idle?
What is your redline now?
The funny thing is that your fuel milage probably stayed the same ;)
And to think Acosta Motorsports charges $60k for this (I know it includes some other stuff but still a lot)
Man the gears go by so fast when you have power.
Raptor2k 12-09-2005, 06:52 PM So how fast are you going in these videos?
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 06:56 PM On the second video at the end you can hear Robert say "cien millas"
that means 100 miles.........
Manuel
BlueAngel 12-09-2005, 07:13 PM WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW :ylsuper: ,

OneEvilRx8 12-09-2005, 08:17 PM if i send my car to la isla, how much b-side the $7,500.00 would you guys charged me for the labor.
Synergy RX-8 12-09-2005, 08:27 PM O.......My..........God........ that this is just plain AMAZING.
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 08:46 PM OnevilRx8,
Sorry but probably the next one is my car...............
Robert is goin to help me..................
But first he is goin to talk to a guy
to know if he can make the points for the new engine.
Rigth now that is the first step.
Robert's car is a really amazing work, he was using this car for the last
8 months as every day car and he drive it really hard!
Today he tell me a lot stories about the cars that he find on the street that
try to runs again him..........no losses for the RX8!
No problem of overheat, air conditioning is working, etc etc.
Is really a dream car...............
Manuel
Bart! 12-09-2005, 08:47 PM It may be fast, but from those videos ... it doesn't sound that nice. Amazing work though, im sure its awesome in person.
rob3379 12-09-2005, 09:06 PM That is just insane!! We need to get him to write a book or manual on this project. We need kits like this!! Again great work!!
Rob
RX8PR 12-09-2005, 09:15 PM Sorry but you would not find a kit for cars with big horse power...........
There is a lot of custom work.
Manuel
truemagellen 12-09-2005, 09:18 PM It may be fast, but from those videos ... it doesn't sound that nice. Amazing work though, im sure its awesome in person.
are you crazy? well it is personal opinion I guess
a 3 rotor is like a tank full charge ahead :ylsuper: until you've seen and heard that engine in person it is hard to understand how insane it is :mdrmed:
Moostafa29 12-09-2005, 09:33 PM
lourx8 12-09-2005, 09:50 PM Muchas gracias amigos Puertoriqueños!!! Puerto Rico es un cielo rotativo!!!!
army_rx8 12-10-2005, 01:03 AM Wow
carbonRX8 12-10-2005, 01:26 AM Love that pic with the engine cover back on. Ha! Devil is in the details. Sweet. I have to say that the $7500 price tag competes with SSRs turbo kit. Seems a little low, if you dont mind me saying. Awesome. Wonder how much it would cost to ship my car to PR. Seems they know what they are doing down there.
Nemesis8 12-10-2005, 03:09 AM Third one is up! (http://www.nemesis8.com/videos/Picture%20138.mpg)

Congradulations.
-Mr. Wigggles
RX8PR 12-10-2005, 07:10 AM Yep,
The car makes 0-100 miles in 8.00 sec. with 7-8 psi of boost with
14 psi of boost I don't know how much make.
Manuel
rgonza 12-10-2005, 07:13 AM Manuel Sound's great!
Thanks For posting it
Rgonza :Eyecrazy:
RX8PR 12-10-2005, 07:23 AM Yep,
Robert all this guys whants a ride on your car,
They whant to send all their cars to Puerto Rico!
Next week we can take more videos to post them here.
Don't forget to call the guy that you tell me about my car.
Manuel
4 years to Supercharge 12-10-2005, 08:00 AM That is inspiration for the majority of us as you can tell.
Those vids are such teasers.
:mdrmed:
We could use one that shows you launching like a rocket down the strip.
epitrochoid 12-10-2005, 12:06 PM i want to cry
everything is so neat and clean too, and that giant intake pipe is just beautiful. you should really consider entering in sport compact car's USCC. With a little more work on suspension, I think that car would win hands down.
truemagellen 12-10-2005, 01:23 PM did you relocate the battery to the trunk?
OneEvilRx8 12-10-2005, 01:59 PM tell me how much would you charge to do this project including evrything, all i would do is send you the car to the isla..
gracias, papa.
rgonza 12-10-2005, 02:05 PM Yes, We relocate the batt. to the trunk. Thanks ,epitrochoid i will take in considaration.
TeamRX8 12-10-2005, 04:01 PM LOL - I can push 500GB a month currently
are you sure? not working for me now ... :Freak_ani
Sapphonica 12-10-2005, 05:02 PM It's too bad the revenue prevention team at Mazda is so powerful.
Otherwise, they would have a turbo 3-rotor RX-8 like this with a trick suspension & sell it for $40-45k (at least). It would pull a lot of gawkers into the showrooms, too.
This is totally sick...I wish I had the mechanical chops to do this myself!
:hitit:

TeamRX8 12-11-2005, 01:50 AM d'oh, sorry the problem was on my end
SomeGuy_sg 12-11-2005, 10:08 AM Mm..interesting project there with a relatively small budget. How did you get the MTX8 to work with the stock ECU ? How about a couple of pics of the engine mounts too. Did you make a custom oil pan ? or go dry sump ? more information please :)
More Videos please :D ;) hehe...
JeRKy 8 Owner 12-11-2005, 11:11 AM That's incredible.
Too bad I'll never have one. Would probably cost like $15,000 for us non-mechanics out there.
Synergy RX-8 12-11-2005, 11:29 AM Did anyone find out what the new red-line for this 3 rotor engine is?
RX8rider 12-11-2005, 11:44 AM How does this PR RX8 differ from the Acosta Motorsports 3 rotor turbo RX8? They're charging 60k for the mods and work and you guys did it for 7.5k, that's amazing!
RotaryRider36 12-11-2005, 12:06 PM How does this PR RX8 differ from the Acosta Motorsports 3 rotor turbo RX8? They're charging 60k for the mods and work and you guys did it for 7.5k, that's amazing!
Well they did say they did all the custom work themselves which saves a sh*tload of money. Dont get me wrong, I think Acosta is charging way too much as well, but you'd be surprised how much you can really save when you do the work yourself. Unfortunately I dont have the mechanical know how to pull off a project like this. However, 7,500 even seems a little low just for parts. Whatever though, the vids were great, car looks factory, sounds beastly. Amazing job!
SomeGuy_sg 12-11-2005, 12:29 PM Does 7.5k including the engine ?
epitrochoid 12-11-2005, 03:40 PM aside from the motor, turbo, and ems, what more off the shelf parts would you have to buy? obviously the mounts and tranny work were all custom made.
RX8PR 12-11-2005, 06:46 PM In PR you can buy a 3 rotor engine in good condition for $3000- $3,500 .........
Again Robert do it a lot of the custom work buy himself and saved a lot of money.
He do it this job by himself for the love and passion that he has for Rotary cars...........
not for saving money.
This car is not finished yet. Now he is goin to change the suspension and other works,
In the future he would go for the 900 HP range, but first he is goin to change a few thinks on the set up.
Manuel
timbo 12-11-2005, 08:49 PM This is an amazing story! Sort of merges my dream of having a Cosmo 20B as a cruise car, and the RX-8 as a daily drive (oh, yeah, my other dream is for my father to own an oil company;) )
Interested in the work you did strengthening the gear box. Did you do this yourself, or send it out?
Great work!
Greddyturbo1 12-11-2005, 11:05 PM This is one of the most exciting threads for me , because I'am just not all that happy with myRX8 with the Greddy turbo after all. I have 284whp with the Greddy but I want so much more, this just might be what I'am looking for, so keep up all the good work and please keep us informed with all updates and any videos you can..
I also heard Cam from Pettit has a 20b in his RX8, I haven't talked with him yet to confirm. Does anyone know if this is true.
JeRKy 8 Owner 12-12-2005, 03:23 AM I'am just not all that happy with myRX8 with the Greddy turbo after all. I have 284whp with the Greddy but I want so much more
I can't believe one of the lucky few to get that much power from their GReddy turbo still isn't happy. You're sick. I guess those are the consequences of being addicted to speed.
TeamRX8 12-12-2005, 03:49 AM Speedsource is building 20B RX-8 race cars, there are several threads on the forum, try a search
CarlRX8 12-12-2005, 05:32 PM This is the best thread ever .! :mdrmed:
I had no idea the carbon fibre tail shaft, modded G/box and the diff could handle this power. Maybe the RX8 was intended after all to be modded after all
Great news for FI people
Carl
rgonza 12-13-2005, 09:39 AM Hello, OneEvilRx8 in these moments we are just in development of the system so prompt we have all the data I itself the supply to yours with photos and details. For DIY.
Thanks

rx8ultra 12-13-2005, 10:48 AM With No Renesis, it isnt an RX8, right?
truemagellen 12-13-2005, 10:57 AM If your father underwent a successfull heart transplant and now had a monkey heart would you call him Mr. Monkey?
RotaryRider36 12-13-2005, 12:00 PM With No Renesis, it isnt an RX8, right?
Of course it is. The true soul of this car lies in the fact that it is a rotary powered vehicle. That is what makes it so unique. By swapping in another rotary engine (ie. super powerful 20b) you're still keeping the one thing about the car that truly makes it stand out from other models. Now, swapping in a piston engine, thats just blasphemous to me. (puts on flame retardent suit to shield self from LS1 7 enthusiasts).
P.S. rx8pr, you guys wouldnt happen to have any video of that 1/4 run where robert ran 10's would you? The other videos were fantastic.

rx8ultra 12-13-2005, 02:23 PM True Magellen: The problem with your post is that in order to be called " Human" you need to have an Orthotopic transplant" (Another Human Heart). If you transplant a "Monkey heart" (Impossible by the way) that person can't be called a " Human" anymore, ...", lol :) . The intrigue of the RX8 is the new concept of the renesis engine. RX8= MAZDA NEW RENESIS ENGINE, not an rx2,rx3,rx4,rx7, cosmos, etc.
truemagellen 12-13-2005, 02:51 PM the Renesis is just a fancy name for the redone engine...a new beginning for the rotary
really our engine's core design is not much different
Renesis is a marketing/branding icon (ie gimmick)
as for the Monkey heart thing, well I was just having a little fun :) :)

probably we make a few short videos with a little more boost!
rx8ultra,
I don't remember and RX7 with a 20B that people don't call it and RX7!
you can put a Renesis engine on a RX7 and you would call it and RX7.
This is and RX8 but with a 20B................
Trumagellen,
you make my day! (with that joke)
Evil,
I talked with Robert last week and he do it all this work for fun..................
He don't make money doin this type of work, He is the owner of a company.
I was making a list and extimated on parts is near $12,000 plus additional labor.
If you consider to send the car to PR back/forward is near $4,000.00
I think that is cheaper to make it in Miami or any other state that has good rotary mechanics.

:scared:

If you have any plans in the near future to visit any of this places, please drop me a note. Also I would like to see your comments regarding (Siguel) Major League.

Don't buy anything until you have the person to do the job.
For the job of put the engine on the car is near $1,700.00
they need to work on the rack & pinion, extend the wheel connector, etc, etc.

truemagellen 12-29-2005, 10:01 AM 12K really isn't bad at all when you think about it
you'll have LOTS more horsepower than a Viper, you'll weight less, and it will handle like a dream in comparison. Heck you'd kick the new Corvette Z06 in the nutz it would start crying
if $12K plus lets say $28K for an RX-8 to have a Supercar level performer (in numbers and I imagine on the track too) that is a bargain!

My friend Robert has $500.00 extra on his pocket!
Manuel
That is the best story I have ever heard. :ylsuper: Do you have another one? I am sure everyone on this forum would love to hear about the 8 kicking the s#@t out of other 'Big HP cars' down in PR.
RENESIS_NEENJA 12-29-2005, 12:55 PM 8-10 car lengths!? JEEBUS!!! :shocking: thats insanity!! was it an older model Z06 or the new ones??
truemagellen 12-29-2005, 01:12 PM 8-10 car lengths!? JEEBUS!!! :shocking: thats insanity!! was it an older model Z06 or the new ones?? it wouldn't really matter as the new Z06 puts down 505hp at the crank and is a 7.0 liter ogre around 550lbs engine
the 3rotor strapped into the RX-8 is running minimum 650HP at the WHEELS and there is still room for more power (to be fair the Z06 is too) only weighs 319lbs
once you see a 3rotor in person you'll understand it is insane :) (I've seen one in a second and third gen 7 but only the second gen install was functional)
I haven't seen a 4 rotor in person but that is like a freight train :mdrmed: (weight 396lbs)
don't forget Abel Ibarra’s 1,500 hp 3-rotor RX-8 :) but probably cost 50 times as much too :)
to really mess with your mind how about this :mdrmed:

Well I've gotten the chance to take a ride in one of the new Z06's.. and for me anyways it's hard to imagine many cars faster.. especially THAT much faster.. :Eyecrazy:
truemagellen 12-29-2005, 01:29 PM like break the wheels loose at 120 kind of fast :)
RX8PR 12-29-2005, 03:58 PM The corvette was one of the new one's,
and that was not the first one that this RX8 kills...........
This 3 rotor RX8 has 657HP at the wheels with 14 psi of bost (aprox. 750 HP at the crank)
If you see the videos posted here the car goes from 0-100 in 8 sec or less and that run on the video was with 8 psi of boost.......................
Robert sometimes goes to run on montehiedra mall
some people goes to the montehiedra mall area and make races on wednesday
(the runs begins near midnight to 2:00 am) he can tell you about other cars that lose against him..................
Robert has a lot of stories of peoples that lose some $$$ runing against him.
I would ask him to write a few ones here.
Of course that the translation to English is not the same fun!

Charles R. Hill 01-02-2006, 05:22 PM A question for the P.R. guys(Robert and Manuel):
Did you find that the RX-8 drive axles' weak link is the center bar like on the RX-7 axles? I am wondering if the CV joints, themselves, are good but we need stronger shafts. From what I read in this thread it sounds like you are using the stock CV's but made stronger shafts. If that is the case I may be able to quickly offer a rear axle upgrade for the RX-8 in case any one stateside would like them.
Thanks for any info/advice you have.

Hello My Friend'
Yes one's of the weaker's link is the center bar between the tranny and the rearend you must have to weld 4' x 1/4"x 4.5" steel bar across the link bar with this mods youre avoid the wheel hoops during hard aceleration. the othe mods is increase the diameter of axles shaft to 52mm from 4243 tools steel. i broke the stock ones at the first drive in the streets.at the moment with the stock CV's we have no found any problems at the moments. But i still making mod.s if i found any
problem i'll do post them it and the solution, i using the car for every day drive to work and for fun after the works.
Thanks :)
Charles R. Hill 01-02-2006, 06:59 PM Oh, you're referring to the PPF as well as the axle shafts. I am working on an aluminum PPF but if higher h.p./torque levels become more common I guess I'll have to go back to making a PPF out of Titanium. A bit costly but you know the axiom.... I found a larger rear swaybar to help control wheelhop but I am nowhere near the power you are making.
On the matter of the axles; do you think that Titanium shafts would help? Maybe I just need to get REAL serious about these things I want to make
Thanks for the response and info.

RX8PR 01-02-2006, 07:45 PM Charles,
Nice to see that you're writing here...............
Robert,
Charles is a great guy and can help us...........
Do you check the web site that "Gaby" recommend for the shafts?
Manuel
Charles R. Hill 01-02-2006, 09:13 PM No, I haven't. I did look at the Driveshaft Shop's website. They don't have anything for the 8 yet but they did talk about the 7's shaft's. DSS says they use stock CV's but replace the shaft. With that being the case and your experience with the 8 supporting that idea, the 8 sounds like it only needs the shaft replaced for levels above, say, 400 h.p. or so. What mildly surprises me is that the factory rear diff/case is doing okay so far. SR Motorsports led Sport Compact Car magazine to write that the factory is "known to fail at power levels above stock". That was in last April's issue. I wrote SCC mag and corrected them on that error, and a couple others, and they printed my letter. I just didn't realize at that time just how strong the driveline actually is. I have been quite confident in Mazda's engineering but now I am really looking forward to driving again and pushing the envelope a bit more. Perhaps p.m. me on some of that help Robert talks about. I would be flattered and honored to pass on whatever it is I know.
Ya know how much money I could make with a 20B in my car racing in my town(Detroit area)?
CRH
Charles R. Hill 01-02-2006, 10:09 PM R+M, I am going to call my machinist tomorrow and talk about making some really kick-ass axles, or at least the shafts, for you guys. I think we can come up with something pretty exotic and bulletproof for you. With that larger diameter(52MM) how much suspension clearance did you lose?
CRH
Sponge Bob 01-03-2006, 12:06 AM Un-FREAKING-Believable!
I came in late on this thread (been busy). I was just over at Rick's Rotary on Friday. He has a Cosmo with a 20B (Right hand drive and all). He was guessing that his stock unit might have 340 HP. But, you guys (Manuel and Robert).. Wow! I'm speechless. You guys are living the dream. Keep it up!

RX8PR 01-03-2006, 09:48 AM Charles,
Robert we like to see pictures of your aluminum PPF, we are interested on see it and know the prices................let me know if you can make it harder.
Talking about the axles Robert don't see problems using the car on daily drive but if you go to run the car on the drag you can't launch the car from the hole,
Robert all ready break a few axles. If you can make something bulletproof we are very interested! Let me know the price and extimated time..............
We really don't understand when you talk about how much suspension clearance we lose,
Please, can you be more especific?
thanks

rgonza 01-08-2006, 03:29 PM Rob, did you use the stock 20B oil pan in your RX-8? Any modifications done to the subframe?
R.P.M.,
Yes i'm still using the stock 20B Oil pan but when i'm installed this it is 1 1/2" more deeper than the stock renesis. i'm going to fabricate an aluminum one with 1 1/2" less than the 20B stock. For the subframe you'll need to modificate it. i can send to you a pics of this mods in the subframe, it's easy to modificate if you have some welding skills. :)
